Wouldnt speed limiters be just as dangerous, in certain circumstances?

What if you were overtaking someone that was going way slow, then you notice a big truck coming in the opposite direction, you then proceed to give it a boot full to overtake and get back into the safety of your own lane, but the car cuts out, or no more power is available?

Wouldnt that be as dangerous?

And besides people would find ways to get around them anyways, if people want to speed they will speed...

I can see Edits coming out to get around speed limiters...

No buddy, don't you realise that if you exceed the posted speed limit by even 1km/h YOU WILL DIE! Don't you watch the ads on tv?

Absolutely fricken rediculous :gooff:

That's an interesting point, I was only thinking about 120km/h on the highway, but in most cases where accidents "at speed" happen it's usually some person speeding around the suburbs, and to be honest a car vs a kid at 120km/h (or even 50km/h) will be just as fatal as at 180km/h.

Ultimately the question should then be posed, why was the person able to get their license in the first place, they obviously weren't ready for the responsability of driving...

I find it strange that the 9 Deaths are all atributed to speed, how about the other things that contribute to crashes, Poor driver training, shi1te roads, driving on unfamiler roads (holiday travel) etc...etc. not one mention of these problems or away to fix it.

Why is it smart people act like idiots when they have a position of power.

Hi All

I have also noticed a couple of other points.

Most of the deaths were on secondary roads (not dual lane or expressways)

Double demerit points does NOT reduce the road toll (revenue raising)

A point in question, I was on the Newcastle expressway on Good Friday, parked on the side of the road was 3 highway pursuit cars and a police bike.

The traffic was flying along at 20 kph so they pulled over a bike doing about 40kph in the emergency lane, then 4 cops surrounded him.

Why don't they patrol the black spots.

The Governments and people with big agendas to tow come out with stupid solutions to a complex problem. This gives them more publicity to justify their speed cameras and pathetic attempts to appear to reduce the road toll.

Watching the news over the long weekend they were saying things like "2 people killed in a head on accident, believed to be caused by speeding". It is a joke that the media tow this line, where they should be accurate in their reporting. How about 2 people killed due to inexperience and excessive speed for the conditions ?

It is pathetic that the governments do not acknowlage that the ONLY way the road toll will be reduced is to teach people to drive, not teach them how to pass the test.

Owel if they do it we will have to have our own 'US style civil war' or 'french style' revolution. We never had a big independance struggle maybe it will come :)
