The Governments and people with big agendas to tow come out with stupid solutions to a complex problem.  This gives them more publicity to justify their speed cameras and pathetic attempts to appear to reduce the road toll.

Watching the news over the long weekend they were saying things like "2 people killed in a head on accident, believed to be caused by speeding".  It is a joke that the media tow this line, where they should be accurate in their reporting.  How about 2 people killed due to inexperience and excessive speed for the conditions ?

It is pathetic that the governments do not acknowlage that the ONLY way the road toll will be reduced is to teach people to drive, not teach them how to pass the test.

I regards to that specific crash, if it was the one in outer Sydney between the WRX and the HQ, the news the next day reported that the Subaru driver speeding on the wrong side of the road had his license suspended 2 weeks earlier but it took 28 days to process the suspension so he still drove.

Heading should have read

"2 killed by bureaucratic ineptitude"

campaign to reduce deaths due to these other causes - $$

Better driver training - $$$

Better roads with concrete dividers - $$$$

or

I had a speed limiter fitted to my car for 14 years..... and then I divorced the b.itch. I can confirm that if you don't speed, you can't kill the b.itch because I tried so hard during that 14 years of not speeding..... :spoton:

I think they should go further.

start with a black box in your car.this is linked to a gps system that knows the speed limit of the road you are on.

this is connected via satalite to big brother.do more than 3kmh over the limit and they just direct debit your bank account.

more than 25kmh and a divvy van will be waiting for you to arrive home to take you to jail.

50kmh over the limit they fire a missile at your car and your toast. :rl: :nono2::police:

I work on a main road with a speed limit of 40kph.cops have a field day.(dont get me started on parking officers either),but thier are drug deals and people shooting up everywhere.call the cops for this and they dont show up.makes me mad!

Yep crap idea, just put all wouldbe drivers through the traffic offenders program or similar, show them these arent just cars but very dangerous pieces of machinery, (if you work in a factory no way would pedestrians be aloud that close to heavy machinery, moving at such speed) thoroughly test all drivers, including tourists.

my 2c on the subject.

Yep!! We need more driver training.young kid I work with(17 y.o.) has had 3 motorbike crashes in 4 months.last one into a parked truck.now he is in hospital in pieces.will probably be there for months.he had zero training before being handed his licence. He evan FAILED the eye test, but they gave it to him anyway.

Why cant they put back some of the money into training?

young blokes learn quick enough.

A week ago prentice (mechanic) at work ribbin me sayin the motor in my T would be glazed because I have never smoked the tyres in it on purpose and drive it like it is made of gold (around young impressionable kids anyways). Laughed my arse off when he came to work on Tuesday this week and had parked his xr6 AU ute into a strainer post at the end of his driveway on the weekend, must have been part of the deglazeing process I guess. I was only doing 30!!!!!!!

I've repped a fair few kays on dirt roads and I know exactly how you loose it on a dirt road/track, simple answer, goin too fugn fast! I've done it a few times to know.

Funnier even is how his excess is way in excess of mine.

yeah, fanstastic idea, why didnt I think of that.

so if I do a track day, and the satelite reads it as a road, ive lost my licence by the end of the day (or I have a missile (?) shot at me  )

or someone steals my car and breaks the limit, so ive lost my car and licence, even though I havent done anything.

well thought out idea, that one.
