Intercooler Spray Kit

to the front mount intercooler using a one way check valve, I have seen people do it to the wrx's and they seem to think it makes a fair difference.

Has anyone here fitted one?

I have a spare kit sitting in my bedroom with a 20ltr alloy tank for the boot, so even if I upgrade the intercooler I was wondering if I should get this fitted aswell,would cost bugger all to install.

Even with an aftermarket/better cooler, it will make a difference, on a stock cooler back to back runs saw about 4 rwkw go away with each run done in a close time.

after several runs the cooler was sprayed with a Garden sprayer bottle as the car ramped up, but not for the full dyno run, difference was 18rwkw from the best previous run.

I know on the road there is better air flow across an IC than there is on a dyno, but it will make a difference.

you need a check valve or solinoid valve so it wont syphon out when not required, then a hobbs pressure switch, say 3 psi, to turn on the pump when you have boost, some of the better kits have a timer that keep the pump running after the boost dies down, so if your on and off the throttle in a winding road, the spray keeps running, ussualy for 5-8 seconds after the boost stops.

A mater switch in the cabin can turn off the pump for an empty tank/cold night etc etc.

I will be hooking mine back up as soon as I have a decent tank made.

you could buy the kits fairly cheaply I thought, around $550 for the tank,pump etc.

I just need to get a new hobbs switch, sprays and a check valve so the tank will not syphon.

I am keen on this, any idea how much a simple setup would cost? I had one on my starion, but it involved re-routing a hose from my washer bottle to a spray attachment infront of the cooler, worked well!

there are kits available that spray dry ice but I have heard they are expensive!

A kit similar to what I have cost around $550 I think and greatly reduces intake temps.

There is some realy good articles on the topic at autospeed.com(its worth the subsricption)they even sell some very good kits for a intercooler sprayer for a very reasonable price. also they have a spray controler (user adjustable) that works buy measuring intake temps and injector duty cycle so it only comes on when its needed like when your fanging it so you save water and you have to fill it less.
