Intercooler Spray Kit

I had a very simple setup.

Bought a washer kit from Repco. It's a water bladder (3L?) with a pump, 3 nozzles/jets and a length of piping.

Had it all hooked up simply on a switch in the cabin. On or off. And just using a single nozzle spraying onto the cooler.

Had the syphon issue, couldn't find anywhere to get a check valve, so ripped it all out. Never tested it.

Just got the instructions to use the spray function on my XEDE. So, gonna get it all out again, hook it all back up, do some more searching for a valve and see how it goes.

Definately gonna need a bigger bladder though... Might head to a wreckers and find a washer bottle. Mount it on the opposite side to the factory bottle behind the front bar.

Get a Fuel shut of solinoid for a LPG car, use it as your anti syphon valve, they cost about $35. from a forklift spare parts shop, and are ratted for continuous use. you can natural closed, which is what you want, so when you poer up the pump, the solinoid opens and lets the water flow, put it close to the pump, and run all the power through a relay so you get good voltage at the pump and shut off.

The xede setup is cool, you can set delays, over run, booost presure etc etc to trigger the spray, but make sure you only use the xede signal wire to trigger a relay, I doubt the chip would enjoy too much load.

I used a brass garden spray nozzel with a 45 deg fan shape, set up low on my old cooler, worked great, now I just need to refit it all to my new cooler.

I think if you had a good pump, two sprays, one top and one bottom would be good.

How about using a boost controlled water injection kit..

Even old 707's used water injection to increase engine performance on hot days.....

there are kits available that spray dry ice but I have heard they are expensive!

A kit similar to what I have cost around $550 I think and greatly reduces intake temps.

At least twich as expensive as a water spray, but a bottle of CO2 from BOC is dirt cheap, at least, its a plus.

I've been looking at doing some sort of cooling for a while, water spray seems cheapest/ easiest. If you got adventurous you could always put it to kick in at a certain RPM or throttle position then have it run for a period of time. Wouldn't be too hard. I think Jaycar maybe sold a kit that turned something on at given throttle position. (At least they did when I worked there)... OR you could do it from scratch

I had not thought about headlight washer bits, they have a heap of spray power, and would look OK too, great tip, thanks.

I am only now strugling with the idea of putting GMH bits on my car, but it is for the greater good, so to speak.
