Bilsteins are definately one of the best out there, but I have been told they need to be rebuilt a fair bit. Problem is a rebuild costs close to the price of a new shock.

Only what I have heard.

Can anyone confirm???

Chris :nono:

Can anyone confirm the rebuild being close to the price of a new set? My rears are farked :pickeat:

Depends on the extent of the rebuild, but in general terms...buy a new pair...

Why are they farked?

Put stiffer springs in and you may not feel the same way. On corregated road mine is a b#$%$.

Albeit on smooth windy road......like :crybaby: to a blanket.

Cheers

PS.

Good choice

Yes I agree mate I have them in my FG XR6 Turbo with ssl front and SSSL rears, smooth roads are awesome, corregated roads the ride is pretty harsh

Seven years on and the thread is still useful, wow! Not much changes in the suspension world it seems. Bilstein and Koni then, Bilstein and Koni now :)

I bought mine from Heasmen in Sydenham for the BF...the Bilsteins are a very firm shock...(this is the first thing you will notice)...the next thing is the reduced body roll when cornering...cost just for supply was around the $1,100 from memory.
