Police may seize the vehicle 'on the spot' or up to two days after the offence, or serve notice on the driver within 10 days of the offence, or 28 days if detected by a speed camera, demanding the vehicle be surrendered to a designated location. Police may also obtain a warrant from a court to search for and seize the vehicle from private property, if it is not surrendered voluntarily.I cannot find anything regarding the hoon hotline and laws that govern what the police can actually do...I would still think they have to prove beyond reasonable doubt you was actually hooning, if your floor mat came loose and somehow got stuck while the accelerator was down and 20 people saw you doing 150kph and all dobbed you in it would be an honest mistake, you should still be able to defend yourself.edit.Well, I found out you cannot defend yourself... never knew that one before.
