I can not help but wonder if the guys that talk about being scared to drive a 1000ph car on the street have ever had a fast car?

I have been behind the wheel of a few fast car's, well car's that run 10's and 11's on the track.

A 3500 pound car with 1000hp can go 8.8 @ 154 mile an hour. Are you telling me you've driven this on the street. 10 or 11 second cars bear little resemblance to 8 second cars.

But I might add it's nice to see or hear a girl beating her chest.

Where did I say I have driven a 1000hp car on the street? I didn't!

I would hope it would run better than a 8.8. I know a heavy old v8 Fairlane that does better than that.

But I might add, if you have driven a 1000hp car on the track, it's nice to see a boy having a go!

All the car's I have ever owned that have been modified, I have been no problem going to the shops and doing my shopping on a daily basis, as for fuel, once again.. no issues with me, sure they drink it, if you drive them hard, but driving normally around town, I use as much as I do in the standard every day v8 driver.

I was involved with a team that ran a 1000hp car at willowbank and have been for many a drive in it, I was never scared, it does as you tell it, you can drive it around at 20k's , or light it up, you choice!

I guess at the end of the day, the guys that admit they could not handle a fast car is a good thing, it makes the roads a safer place for all of us.

More of a case that I could not trust myself to hold back on giving it a squirt, which may be fine for strip or track but street..

I drive a 500rwhp/ 1165kg hoon mobile nearly every day. Once your talking this amount of power it can get you into trouble very easily with. The main problems with breaking traction at high speed and not being ready for it and also getting to high speeds without realising it and not being able to pull the car up. You have to learn to respect it and learn to handle horsepower if that's your addiction.

Todd Wilkes killed himself with his twin turbo V8 which made 1000+ horsepower cause he underestimated how quickly this amount of power can get you into trouble.

And yes the power I have does scare me sometimes and I'm no *beep* either.

Sounds like a weapon you've got.

It might sound ridiculous now, but I remember when I first got my Calais turbo back in 88, with all of 150kw. I almost crashed it after driving it for 10 minutes, as I underestimated both the acceleration, speed and stopping capability.

In term of 1000hp in a Ford T, the most risky situation I could think of right now, in a practical sense, is losing traction, and hence control, in an overambitious overtaking situation.

yeah 8.64@160 is the best I've done.that was last july,I've done the heads and a few more mods and confident of a 8.30.should be at calder next friday if my new tail shaft is ready.I've got a 1meg movie I can email you its of a lazy 8.7 pass with no bottle pressure.just email me.

As you can see that was last year, last I heard he was doing around the 8.3 and has close to 1300hp now.

Not to shabby for a old heavy Fairlane.

Have seen the 'old' Fairlane run at Calder a few times, and yep, it one is mean mutha!
