  2. Happy Birthday Dr Z!

  3. Thanks for scanning the dyno charts. Here are my views: 1. In stock form, that dyno reading of 164.9 rwkw is on the low side. In fact, I cannot recall seeing any lower on an auto XR6T unless there was something amiss with the car. Anyone else recall lower? Given this, I would have the car totally checked over, all hoses, intakes etc to make sure everything is OK. 2. It would be good to see your AFR's if you have them. Like gogo, I am concerned that your torque is not very strong down low then tapers off quickly. With some more adept tuning with the AFR, tining and boost you could get that fatter torque earlier holding up with AVERAGE power being higher. 3. This may seem like a silly question, though lets check everything. How much torque management has been adjusted? How much do you feel comfortable with? Do you want the torque tags taken down to their lowest levels? If so, check with CRD that this is what they have given you. I hope this helps and no doubt other community members will share their insights too. Safe and happy driving...Dr Z.

    Abuse Mode

Good point. I guess an engine manufacturer's reply would include that they are quoting a maximum power figure. What I was hoping community members would share, is their noticeable experiences of this "Abuse Mode" kicking in with "bumometer" or "seat of the pants" differences in power delivery. What did you notice? When did you notice? How did it come about? Did you do anything about it? etc

    Abuse Mode

The April 2006 issue of Motor Magazine is a great read and is a keeper for posterity since it heralds the beginning of the Ford/FPV domination era over Holden/HSV with the Australian PCOTY results. With VE Late model camira expecting to lug a lot more weight than the VZ, that domination is expected to continue, hopefully for a LONG time. On page 120 and 121 there is a good read on "Abuse Mode" or Torque Management. For anyone who ever wonders why their car appears inconsistent in power delivery, this is a good read. The second last paragraph specifically covers the turbocharged Barra in the XR6T and F6. I have scanned and attached the article here. It would be great to hear how our community members can relate to this article. Share your experiences. How can you better manage this Abuse Mode? Edit. Safe and happy driving...Dr Z.

    Xr6t Mods

Transmission oil cooler as soon as possible with that tune.
  7. Glad its not C&V. You now have good benchmarks provided by our community to share with CRD so they can be more in touch with your tuning expectations matching those achieved by other tuners. If they dont sort it out for you, PM me. Best wishes.
  8. Sloppy work. Tell him Dr Z said so too and by all means print this thread out so they are more in touch with what other tuners are delivering for their customers down the strip. The early low down torque that Edit can deliver, particularly with the Torque Management benefits the Edit provides, is the massive difference in strip times compared with comparable piggyback tunes. PM me for more details and I can also share my dyno graphs. Hope you sort this out soon.
  9. In that case, forget everything I said.. ..they are SO out of touch!

13.0 is lean and 11.5 is getting richer Good pwr figure Marcus but I would be concerned about it leaning out to 13.0 though CYA JEFF <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, as I said, "richer starting from 13.0 then sub 12.0 down to 11.5 AFR.". 13.0 is clearly the leanest mix.
  11. Congrats Sutty! Hope you get on top of your new challenge soon to set even quicker times! Safe and happy driving...Dr Z.

Interesting tune because of the way the power delivery has been managed. In the 110 to 160kph area there is a considerably richer mixture starting from 13.0 then sub 12.0 down to 11.5 AFR. Starting at 15 PSI and sliding down, in this 110 to 160kph area it may be about 12-14 PSI still? There's a lot of torque happening down low, which is what people enjoy most about their wogtune I guess. that's clearly achieved by lean AFR's and peak boost of 15 PSI, which while conservative for engine internals if boost is less than 16 PSI with AFR's not much higher than this, this low down torque is producing the highest stress on your box at high throttle applications. I agree that the box deserves the highest priority for next modification attention in order to maximise its functional and structural integrity. Wishing you the best of driving experiences...enjoy the harder, longer, spirited WHOOSH! Safe and happy driving...Dr Z.
  13. I am puzzled why you would assume a tuner may be at fault for a slower than expected ET and lower than expected trap speed? There are any number of variables that could account for this without implying any particular tuner has not adequately tuned your car. The slow 60' time is clearly a launch technique issue that once again may have a number of variables associated with it. Why am I posting this? I would not want to see an important thread where you are working out how to better apply your power down the strip tangent off into a tuner witch hunt when there may be more plausible reasons offered by the strip gurus. Safe and happy driving...Dr Z.

Interesting tune, got a boost graph? What boost levels are you running?

    Go The Aussies

I dont want to appear critical though hopefully Punter has learned a valuable tactical lesson that when one of your bowlers is getting knocked around for more than 10 runs an over after 7 overs with NO wickets, and you DO have other bowlers, give the other bowlers a go. Congratulations to South Africa! They have been on the losing end of critical Australian wins, such as 1999 World Cup. Any time an underdog gets up in ANY competitive game, it is good for the long term profile of the game, especially in this historic match.

    Tyre Questions

I have used 18 inch Pirelli Nero Zero's and Rosso's. With my power output, I really do appreciate the extra grip in the dry and wet. The wet weather grip is outstanding. I wrote a comprehensive report on my experience with the Pirelli Nero Zero's HERE in post #70. With even more power now than when I wrote that report, the extra grip is even more beneficial. Clearly, I feel at least the same way about the Rosso's as the Nero's. Safe and happy driving...Dr Z.
  17. Interesting to see that the Auto XR6T has the same trap speed as the F6. Congratulations Ford/FPV! The more aware people are of the OEM performances from blown 6's, let alone slightly modded with Edit etc, perhaps we may see a continued growing generational trend away from traditionally loved V8s? Finally, if the Holden/HSV's are NOT now as competitive with the Ford/FPV blown 6, imagine how poorly they will rate in comparison when they add all that extra weight on the VE's! Folks, enjoy making history...enjoy being part of this new Ford/FPV performance era! Safe and happy driving...Dr Z.
  18. Keep the blue and white colours, drop any hint of red..something along the lines of this flag is what I had in mind..
  19. Now you are psychic.. *twilight zone music* ..you read my mind perfectly.
  20. With any luck, Shazzy might get her next 4000 posts just in this thread alone..
  21. Awesome Saleen! Wishing you and your dear ones a great driving experience.
  22. CONGRATULATIONS SHAZZY!!! Now might be an appropriate time to admit to a secret fetish I have of repeatedly reading all 4000+ of Shazzy's posts soaking up all her quality wisdom...
  23. Dingah, sounds like we have an almost identical setup with: APS Phase II - Unichip + Edit + PWR Intercooler + Valve Springs ..so I know exactly how you feel! Excellent informative write-up. Enjoy lots of spirited and fun driving. Safe and happy driving...Dr Z.
  24. Great to see you chose an XR6T! Wishing you and your dear ones the very best of driving pleasure. Safe and happy driving...Dr Z.
