Hi guys, as most now know I have bought Jeff's (xr6ikness) car. The car has extensive mods and is fantastic.

The engine has been rebuilt with stronger rods and it also has the APS intercooler. It is currently tuned @ 297rwkw's and runs great.

I have a few options available to me.

1) I can leave it as it is and sell my Xede (which ever chip I dont use has already been sold).

2) I could take the car to APS in Melbourne and get Peter to have a look at it possibly get a bit more power. This would give Peter a great photo op of me with an APS car.

3) I can take it back to Amberley and get them to install my old Xede. I would get it set up with a 270rwkw map for normal driving and a 320(or higher)rwkw map for racing and fun. These would be changed by a switch mounted in the car. I would then sell the Unichip.

Option one will cost nothing and leave the car in its current set up which is great.

Option two will probably cost a couple of hundred for a retune.

Option three will cost a little bit more again as it will involve changing chips and 2 tunes.

Please dont start a slanging match here about each chip. I'm only after constructive imput.

Also please don't offer other alternatives unless they are going to cost less than option 3.

Thanks,

Geea.

Mate you know my thoughts, I know you like to be individual and that's great.

You currently have APS products on the car and even if some people don't like Peter all that much I don't think the product itself has ever had anything but praise from this forum.

You have picked up a real bargain I feel, and I agree that you should drive it around for a bit and see how it feels.

If it aint broke don't fix it, just tune it for a bit more grunt if you feel the need and if you leave it as is you can use your money to get your auto done again.

Having been in the position of dealing with Amberley and APS I found both to be very good workshops, but I don't feel I have lost anything going the APS path.

1. Keep the Unichip

2. Sell the XEDE

3. Put the Nizpro plenum on the car

4. Retune to 340rwkw

5. Run a mid 11 second qtr and show up everyone else

6. Give the photo a miss

Um whichever gives more grunt, though there is value in your two map set-up, for when Joe Bloggs gets the keys.

Geea,

I got my car done at APS and they offered me the switch option. I was going to have Phase 1 and less than stock(valet) switch on my car, but decided to not get that option due to lack of time I had to get the job done.

I am sure APS can give you a track and road tune for your car as the Unichip can run 2 maps.

P.S Great choice in the car you bought

Sorry Craig to interrupt, here's one of my favourite photos from one of the cruises, in case you hadn't seen it before.

Those wheels and dual exhaust look fantastic.
