  1. Picked up some fresh plugs and threw them in. Also replaced the pcv with a metal version for no good reason. So I can 100% confirm its not a spark issue. Swapping coils didnt help and when I pull the coil up a little I can hear it sparking good and proper. Pulled number 5 plug and it was wet.. Ok I thought maybe dud plug so put the new one in and sure enough on the road test the missfire is still present. Thinking next step is to test the injectors maybe try listen to them with a stethoscope and test resistance. It might even be clogged. After that I will be out of ideas as there appears to be no electrical/wiring issue present.
  2. The difference in colour is upsetting my ocd is all haha
  3. Felt a very slight miss fire this morning.. Sitting at the car at idle and you could feel it by the seat of the pants.. Fearing the worst I pulled the plugs and did a comp test 200psi on all cylinders so ruled out any damage. Poked around the inlet manifold thinking maybe I have missed something when I did the engine swap but everything looked ok. I did however notice that it appears the injectors have not been fitted properly with the last 2 having a different type of spacer which is blue and no clips. Pretty concerning that 6 injectors can't be fitted correctly. Finally on the way home as I was pulling up in my street the check engine light came on. Odd as coils aren't old and plugs are fresh. Next step is to swap the coil with another cylinder and see if the problem moves. While I'm at it, fresh plugs will go in. Is it still gas plugs with e85?
  4. Yeah I used the black bendy e85 rated hose in the tank. I think I will do that first up, no harm in pulling it off and double checking it. I did also drill the venturi yes.
  5. Just drill the return section. Its a 460 in the stock cradle, no wiring upgrades.
  6. I was just putting off the inevitable trying to keep the tank full but I think the voltage drop as the revs increase is what my problem is in this case do you think? Its a given I will need your 'shopping list' at this power level but thinking I will pop in a 5-7psi waste gate spring and turn it down, run a relay upgrade and carry on. Even that's not 100% full proof.
  7. An interesting event occurred last night which I believe is fueling related. Getting off the lights quick and peddling the car to eventually full throttle in 3rd gear I heard a pop/back fire and not out of the exhaust. This sounded more of an inlet/timing out type pop. I also feel like I heard this exact pop when the car was at 350rwkw on 98 however there was a car next to me and things were moving pretty quickly and my first thought was valve springs. Anyways I cruised the car home and it feels fine so perhaps I am lucky but my luck will run out if I don't park the car up and sort something out. On the phone with kpm and he believes my 1000cc injectors are not big enough. Also suggested an fg tank with the 1000hp kit. I'm not sure I want to go down the road of more and more and more bit rather turn the car down, less boost less power to something like 300-320rwkw and save the transmission along with the rest of the car. Perhaps in this case I can run a stand alone relay to the in tank pump and that should be sufficient for that power level. Am I safe to assume this is the fuel system not being able to keep up as I'm racking my brain thinking of anything else that could need attention? It didnt feel like any surge took place but all I can think is that it leaned out? Car was 3/4 full at the time. Cheers guys!
  8. I haven't done the full calculation as I'm keeping the tank pretty full but its sub 150km to half the tank so I'm guessing about 250-280km max.
  9. Ran out of steam last night and left the rim change over for another day. A quick and dirty rear wheel alignment corrected the thrust angle and got the steering wheel straight again. I was expecting the damaged rim to be buckled but it really isn't that bad and perfectly fine to drive on. This will give me some time to find someone who can widen the 17 inch steel rears and I hope to get them out to about 9 inches minimum. I'm ready to pull the trigger on some generic hub caps and ford centre cap stickers to go for a total stock type look. I originally looked at Ford Crown Vic (last pic) hubcaps but they were just too expensive to get a set of 4 and delivered here.
  10. Haha I've come this far I might as well share the whole journey. I have a playbook of excuses though, wet road, dark but it certainly wasn't driver error...... Maybe.
  11. It appears that I love punishment in one form or another.. So last week I had a meeting with a gutter after a sleepy drive home... Rims cactus and I even managed to bend the control arm... So I go about sourcing some 27 inch territory steelies and some lower control arms. What I was not prepared for was the lower control arm inner bolt fouling on the diff!! After much swearing I give in. Cradle out, diff bolts out and jiggle the bolts out and get it back together... Wheel alignment next up. If I didnt have access to a hoist I'd be parting the car out I rekon [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
  12. haha ok excluding the streets that 700rwkw mad men drive on...
  13. I do need something else to really put the hammer down however I think at this stage, the all season toyos are saving the rest of the drive line from failure. I was eyeing out the Yokohama advan a052 but that Nankang does look pretty appealing too. I really do want to walk away from anything on the street so a sticky setup and stealth looks is a must for the future. With the engine at a good place now, this years goal is to spread the cost out for a fuel system upgrade, built trans, tail shaft and rear end. See how that works out for me haha
  14. Let's just say its not a wise idea to drive around the airport attempting 0-100 timing runs haha but if you must know, my best time was 5.8 seconds scrambling for what ever traction possible. The car went closer to 5.0 when it had 280rwkw with practically no wheel spin. Officer said he 'observed a rapid rate of acceleration' so I will take that as a thumbs up from him.
  15. Sunday wash after a solid week with the car. I can confirm the AFP don't carry speed detection or recording equipment but they can still pull you over for a chat and reality check... I've done a few little tidy up things and sorted out a fast charger setup for my phone as the previous setup would charge but if I used some apps it would drain the battery slowly even when charging. A few small issues have come to light this week but nothing that can't be sorted. 1. The transmission developed a leak pretty much the minute I fitted it back into the car. It looks like its the front seal. When the trans was out, I noticed the converter slipped forward a little and sat that way for the time it was out of the car. Not sure if that would be enough to wreck the seal but its looking like transmission out again. I think in this time I will fit some flex plate bolts/kit. I recall@joncitizen suggesting a kit but can't remember exactly which one it was. 2. There is a noticeable clunk between 1-2 gear changes under heavy acceleration. I feel like this is also in part to the delay in shift that might be in place to save the transmission - possibly trans tune related. For now I have been taking it easy and giving it hits in gear and saving the heavy shifting for future fun. This also highlights the fact that perhaps the stock diff bushes are simply not up the task of this power level so I want to try get the car back on a hoist and inspect. It might also be center bearing related. If this is the case I will look at a set of superpro bushes and look at other ways to stiffen up the drive line to cope with this sort of driving. In all other aspects the car drives just perfect, it so smooth and strong down low but so quick to come alive and get moving. With the sound proofing inside and nice fpv seats the car really feels much nicer inside that what it actually is.
  16. Goes really well and I have also beating my record of 2 days. Up to 4 now. The rrt turbo im really happy with. Its got an awesome sound and really comes alive. Happy motoring days!
  17. It sounds like you're on the right track. This unfortunately is the trade off with motards and finding the gearing sweet spot. I geared mine up for the commute I had at the time and when I would setup for the kart track 14/47 - gear it short. I then found the balance in the middle, got jack of swapping sprockets and left it at 15/44. My DRZ could always have used an extra gear though. It looks like your bike is in full on mx gearing.. Wouldn't hurt to go up a tooth on the front which might calm it down a little bit. Going through some old photos motard life, the rmz I used to prepare for a mate in another life, full house, ohlins everything, titanium as far as the eye can see. Gun rider too but that bike made me tingle haha
  18. that's what its all about! Light weight, punchy engine, grip for days and you can just chuck the bike around how ever you please, brake as hard and as late as you wish. Leg out knee down take your pick. Go and carve up some big boy bikes now haha Pics are awesome.. That bike, I want to have a go! [emoji106][emoji106]
  19. He sure does and both him and Jeremy were very approachable throughout the whole process. Very happy with it so far [emoji106]
  20. Cars running great, very strong but also much more rounded as a whole package. It has more poke off boost I feel and the transition onto boost is very smooth. Its an easy car to live with that's for sure. Cruising in drive, you'd think the car is dead stock.
  21. So I went about finding a tuner last few weeks. Called a few shops to touch base, go through my setup and see if it feels right. First up was autotech, busy place, very glitchy I call them they call me I call them we could never really find a chance to talk. Eventually got through to spiro but he was too busy to talk. Then I tried empire, jeremy was very positive and enthusiastic. It felt right so I towed the car to them. Early reports are the car made 398rwkw at 16psi and they wanted to hold the car to check cold start. Pick up tomorrow so should have a graph to disect. I see a transmission upgrade in my future.
  22. Edging closer to getting the tune done. Dump and cat fitted up and no leaks. Some heat shields might need to be tweaked a little though. Door handles and doors re done and looking much less ghetto now. Pretty much ready to book in for a tune now.
  23. Waiting for the exhaust to arrive so taking some time to focus on the paint work again. Being lazy and not pulling out the door handles last time, it left an unsightly look between the handle, the rubber seal and the door itself. So handles out and will have to paint everything separately. I'm slowly gearing myself up to eventually get a few coats of clear over the car and bring the paint up to scratch.
  24. If you diy you'll have to factor in the valve spring removal tool and a way to get air into the cylinder too.
  25. You'll need a flap mate
