  1. That part will get him started..... What about the crop..? Hang on...is this really plonky...? I dont think so. I know The apology does really sound foreign coming from me
  2. Ok I got stabbed in the chest on New Years Eve 1990 I have been in a very large number of high speed pursuits, one of the longest being from Molong to Wellington at 180kmh + chasing a 351 Falcon with an armed robber in it Having a lose at 195kmh in the middle of a corner that was being repaired and was covered in dirt and the gumbies at the RTA hadn't signposted the roadworks Absolutely belted black and blue every year since 1987 Held balloons for the snipers to shoot at a distance of 100m to 600m Been shot at 5 times in seperate incidents by crims Shot back (and missed unfortunately) Forced entries on premises using flash bangs etc with the occupants armed Got up to 258 in an unmarked SS and 252 in an unmarked AU XR8 as well as regularly hitting some serious speeds in pursuits/urgent duty in the middle of towns Negotiating with a mental patient that escaped from a hospital and took two people hostage, tied them around the hands and feet and used them as cover whilst holding a knife to their throat and drawing it across to cut the skin and being filmed the whole time so that if I did shoot her (and it would have to be a brain shot to cease all movement) spend the rest of the year at Coroners Court whilst the media and the uninformed community convict me Rapelled out of helicopters Rapelled down the sides of buildings Spent two days in a hide on a crop with cold food, cold water, no coffee etc etc etc Driven a Carrera Cup car on a race track Driven an M3CSL on a track Raced motor bikes for two years Died No really, In March 2002 I had a near fatal accident and I was found 4 hours after it happened, I was flown by helicopter to Hospital and died for a minute on the chopper (heart stopped for a minute) and spent 12 days in a coma on life support. Had my right arm ripped off, broke four ribs, punctured both lungs, shattered my left femur, broke my hip socket off, broke my pelvis and all the bones in my left hand. Because I'm such a forthright, bombastic, single minded SOB I am now walkign and talking. I don't have much sympathy for people because the only place I can find sympathy is in the dictionary...between sh*t and syphillus
  3. Don't laugh too much Ford will get their arses spanked in SS/Monaro sales now Remember the VZ isn't a lardarse like the BA They have a good spring/damper package and will be highly sought after in HWP spec. The Police sales are important because customers see what the HWP drive and they automatically assume that whatever the cops drive MUST be the best otherwise we wouldn;t use them for high speed work etc It is great for brand image because everytime a driver sees one on the road or on TV, the NSWP are advertising for the company.
  4. The Australian Standard on speedometer accuracy is +/- 10% This takes into account older cars with cable driven/gear driven speedometers. 99% of new cars with electronic speedometers are accurate to within 2%. A mobile or stationary radar infringement will only be issued by the Police if it is 10% overthe speed limit plus the tolerance of the instrument which is +2-3 for mobile or +2-2 for stationary. In effect you would have to be doing 114 in a 100 zone before you were eligible to be issued an infringement. That would also include all relevant criteria to make it a valid radar ticket. This doesn;t mean that an estimated speed infringement cannot be issued, because it can. In NSW there is no magical formula to get off a speeding ticket. The radar instrument is 100% accurate. There is no denying that as it is calibrated more than it should be. For a valid radar ticket to be issued, the relevant criteria must be met. A speeding ticket (as opposed to a radar ticket) can still be issued even if one of the relevant criteria hasn't been met. There are three ways that Police issue speeding tickets in NSW. Radar, Check and Estimated. Each of these procedures are valid and everyone has the right to have the matter heard at Court. Just remember, what you may think to be OK may not pass the test of a prudent and reasonable person. I convicted a guy a couple of days ago for Negligent Driving after I issued a ticket to him for doing two laps of a roundabout. There are some HWP who are not radar dependant and focus on real offences and have a considerable knowledge of the relevant Acts (and not all of them were Detectives with significant experience in both Homicide and Armed Robbery Squads either) What I am totally opposed to is the fixed speed cameras. They have not shown themselves to have a contributory factor in the reduction of road trauma, and even when an offence has been detected there is no immediate resrtraint of the offences continuing. They are purely a cash cow and as long as voters vote for the Communists that install and rely upon them for Govt. revenue, they will continue to exist.
  5. You can paint of galvanising FoMoCo have done it and they called it Mercury Silver :o Et Tu Plonky ... My heart is officially broken. I'm sorry Ken It was a pithy comment in an attempt at humour and it failed. I am not a fan of the colour wars and if you like Mercury Silver then your are entitled to like it and damn anyone that doesn't. It's not a bad colour at all and I apologise for breaking your heart. All the best Your leather capped, Rayban wearing friend Plonky
  6. If it is the same Tony Stoddart I am thinking of, he is a founding member of the NSW WRX Club. I hope he goes well in his action and the camera is shown to be inaccurate. Though I guess he can't rely on the speedometer of his Subaru to be accurate....that is one of the reasons NSWP don't use them for HWP duty. 59 in a 50 does exceed the 10% error for the Australian Standard on speedometer accuracy, so he can only hope the camera is found to be faulty.

  8. Thanks chaps but I don't need a hug I am just sick of the bullsh*t that is spewed out by those imposters at the RTA (car haters...all of them), the cretins in the State Govt, the bum lickers in the NSW Police and all those other Commies in self appointed (Like the United Nations) lobby groups that are their for their own advancement (Pedestrian Council, Bicycle Council etc) Common sense seems to be falling by the way side and I don't like being a lone voice of common sense and reason !!! Those imposters at the Local Council that appoint some pink and fluffy do-gooder Road Safety officer that believe that speed advisory signs will make people aware of the speed they are doing.....why do manufacturers install a speedometer into a motor vehicle for then..... Those Communists at the RTA that believe that putting a speed camera at the Cumberland Highway exit on the M4 will reduce ALL fatalities merely because a camera exists on the M4 Those unimaginative and autocratic imbeciles that direct that Stationary RBT WILL be performed because the HWP is all about profile and being seen to be doing something (like a drunken imbecile as actually going to drive up to a stationary RBT site so that he can be tested and arrested) as opposed to mobile RBT where you actually catch drink drivers I still don't need a hug.....I just need to belt someone !!....real hard !

Funnily enough back in the EF days, the Fairmont Ghia was equipped with the XR6 motor as opposed to the standard motor for the Fairmont. I thought it was a great idea at the time. Now, the Fairmont Ghia is supposed to have the XR suspension to make it more of a sport/lux with additional prestige. I was suprised that the Turbo motor or the BOSS motor wasn't offered as an option. Same with the Fairlane G220. It is supposed to appeal to a younger market but it has the standard 3 valve Triton motor. No Turbo option available. It is still quite apparent that Ford still don;t know how to package and market some of their models. FPV? Well I have been quite critical of some of their strategies for a while. The stripe fiasco was a late addition because of the uproar from the 'true believers' and even then they stuffed that up. (HG Monaro stripe on a Ford ferchrissakes) The GT-P ? absolute waste of time. The GT was/is supposed to be the performance peak on offer from FPV as a regular production product. The GTHO was/is only supposed to be an exclusive limited edition that comes along every now and then. Every option on the GT-P should have been left on an option list and the one model, GT, should have only been available. That way the customer builds his own exclusive car and each one is an individual option. GM have been closing the gap on HSV for a while and Ford needs to do the same to FPV. I think they need it !
  10. Paint it Blood Orange It will be a big billboard reminder for FoMoCo to show how dumb it was to shelve the best colour in their pallett and replace it with that horrible Mandarin. !
  11. I have been to traffic meetings where the Council Road Safety officer has been frothing about how good these speed check reminder things are. I reminded him that the only thing they are good for is having the hoodlums see what speed they can register when they race past it. I think they are stupid....just another thing for the motorist to look at instead of their mobile phone, CD player, car mounted DVD, the kids in the back, plethora of useless RTA signs, which lane they are in, stupid pedestrians that run out in front of cars, idiots on pushbikes bunny hopping from kerb to kerb as well as those inconvenient Stop signs and traffic lights......and other cars travelling in both directions !!

The XR8 suspension is not modified over the XR6T. It is the same spring rate and damper valving and this is one of the reasons they have been unpopular with HWP at high speed. The spring becomes uncontrollable over undulations because the damper cannot conrol it. I guess it was cheaper to use the 6cyl suspension across all models as Ford were running out of money. Now that the BA has been succesfull (in comparison to the AU) they can spend the money uprating the spring/damper package. Even a $5 component relates to a $100k expense over the build process. The good news is that there will finally be a dedicated Police Pack which will include HD suspension, Premium brakes and a power upgrade as well as a modification of the shifter (with a lockout from D to N and a mod to prevent the SSS accidently picking up 2 in full accel instead of 4 - this has caused a turbo spike/overrev which has ripped the cam lobes off a Turbo on issue) There has been no date set for the Police pack and I don't think it will be available to the public, however, in terms of brand image and making a product available to younger customers, the winners will be FoMoCo and the consumer.

It's a smart upgrade that gives more value for money but doesn't devalue the existing model. About bloody time....it is almost BMW inspired Good one Ford
  14. I'm pleased to see that the discussion regarding stripes has been resurrected. For those that weren't around at the time (and remembered how critical I am of those poxy 'HG Monaro' stripes that FPV belatedly placed onto the GT this is what a real GT sill stripe looks like and should have been put onto the GT in the first place (even though I don't have it now I still have the photo's and memories)
  15. Off the P71 Police Interceptor pack from the US fitted to Crown Victoria's

I think I would be too unpopular with those that want to implement 'social justice/engineering', those that want to make excuses for the individuals behaviour, those that think that the Government and the world owes them something or those that believe every bit of media driven rubbish on the print and visual mediums. I'm just happy doing my thing at work, showing that a commonsense way is really the way to do our job and being continually criticised/excluded from climbing the ladder because it goes against the policy of the State Government and Police hiearchy. Have you heard of the 'Peter principle'? It is a term where managers/chief executives surround themselves with people who pose no threat to them and are of similar or lesser intelligence/initiative. This is why you see the really smart people still in lower to middle management because they can't/won't sacrifice their commonsense principles to climb the corporate ladder. I think the only way is to go into Government....then I would be one of a few that aren't solicitors
  17. Oh and BTW, I still respect your right to have an opinion, I don't have to agree with it, nor do you have to agree with me but it is important that we can both have one....... Did I say that Mike Moore is an offensive (but very clever) Leftist propogandist? Square Bob Brown Pants is a Watermelon (Green outside Red inside) The ALP has been hijacked by Communist/Socialist ideological refugees and no longer represents the blue collar worker/working family? Just a few that I thought I would throw in....welcome to the Forum (and I mean it)

Haven't heard of that one though my pick is that Garth Tander will be the new driver at DJR next year. Dick has long been a fan of Garth and the height between Custard and Garth is about right. I would probably say that Luff goes to be a back up/test driver. Garth would be just what DJR need !
  19.   How trite HWP is my day to day duty and has been for the past 4 years. Other roles I am engaged in relate to High Risk/CT work including SACPAV operations. This has been for the past 10 yrs and I am well up to date with current assessments regarding the risk that NSW is at. Though I had a little chuckle at the witty repartee......
  20. Really Then perhaps you could do to realise that no one in the Government 'lied' about reasons to liberate Iraq They relied upon information from an imperfect science..intelligence. Intelligence is that which is not prima facie but tends to point towards a particular direction. Subsequent examinations from 'blame finders' have shown that the Intelligence community really is fallible. This is not a TV show or a magazine, but a reflection as to what really happens in world affairs. Intellignce is human and forensic. Human intell has motivations for any number of reasons and these include money, ideology, sex and removal of opposition. Forensic evidence relies upon paper trails, photographs and other physical evidence. It is up to analysts to make sense of the information that they have and place it into a realistic and sensible form so that it can be utilised. Perhaps the Government should just take advice from self interested media outlets and self inportant political/media commentators. You still refuse to acknowledge that the UN Security Council had already determined that Hussein had a WMD programme. With the amount of stuufing around there is no reason to suspect that the items hadn't been removed to neighbouring countries, particularly Syria. Even that Whitlam sycophant, Richard Butler, believed that Hussein has WMD. Just by being in an isolated country like Australia does not make us any less of a terrorist target. As a matter of fact, because of the pathetic xenomania that we have in Australia, it is used as more of a terrorist traning facility than it is as a target. You can say what you want but I actually know who and what is out here. I'm actually surprised that the Federal and State Govts. haven't made this known publicly. Probably why the NSW Govt has some very strong Anti Terrorist legislation (stronger than what the Federal Govt. has) Sitting around singing Kum Bay Ya, being pink and fluffy, trying to negotiate etc etc will not stop terrorists from doing what they believe. As far as they are concerned there is no negotiation, no acquiescence or allowing them to settle. We are their enemy and they will stop at nothing to kill us. And in that respect, they will not be stopped and saying or doing anything other than fighting against them is supporting them....pure and simple!!

  23. The original one is best for performance..... and for your hip pocket The one that vents externally is a $200 ticket and sounds really wanky The one I had on my WRX was not as good as the original, so I put the original one back one.
