1. Well sayonara ford, it was nice if brief relationship. Ford US and GM US on the whole are clueless and conservative and it through their woeful cars they ended up in this mess. Foisting a FWD Taurus on us will spell the end of Ford Australia. Just like Mitsubishi Australia got screwed and had the US design 380 foisted on them.
2. Yep, you want a superfine atomisation of the spray to maximise the effect. The latent heat of evaporation is huge, which is why the cooling is so effective.
3. Having just spent a week on the GOR and staying at Cape Otway good luck avoiding the clueless morons that ply the road. Spent 50% of the time doing 20-40 under the limit and watching countless dills spend a lot of time on the RHS of the road. Such a a shame as it's a beautiful drive to Warnambool.
4. Police serious about road safety - that's a load of horse sh!te. They are a huge part of the problem and not the solution. By far the worst place in the world to drive these days and given how bad the rest of Australia is that's a pathetic indictment. Let's see the inept media label this guy a sociopath and call for his head.
5. Very underwhelmed by the figures Motor's quoting. 325kW for a blown 5.0l is pretty lame and really a low boost version making 10kW less, sounds ridiculous. I could just believe a low boost version making 315kW but a hipo would want to be making 350+kW. And how does a blown V8 only make the same numbers as a turboed 4l. Where does this leave the F6? Still looking forward to the potential 100kg weight saving the Coyote V8 brings and hopefully the SC system doesn't add 50kg straight back on.
6. I would not put 265's on an 8" rim ever, even 255's are marginal and any reputable tyre place would say no.
7. Evil F6 replied to Buf-Phoon's topic in Brakes
DBA 5000 rotors, hipo fluid, Race Brakes pads, braided lines ~$1600 fitted.
8. Forget crap like gauge pods, real improvements are needed like beefier ZF, paddle shift, more differentiation from the standard Fords, better brakes, seats, suspension (current offering is crap) less weight. I assume if they get 600Nm from the F6, the ZF will be an updated version; they have one that can handle 650Nm.
9. Both sides should be pushed out an airlock they are morons. Abbott's a complete turd and a bigger scumbag than Howard, but I'm glad he won so as to block the ETS. Labour's ETS is the biggest con job of all time. It will deliver ZERO emission cuts, and ensure the entire burden is passed straight to households. I fully support taking action, but this is inaction dressed up with rhetoric and BS and playing on fear to get passed. Now all we need is for Krudd to be booted and take that dickhead Swan while they're at it.
10. Assuming you can 22's on the FG what rubber can you fit. I'll bet you couldn't get sensible tyres under the guards. Probably need 25 profile rubber which is laughable on our goat tracks.
11. Motor got a 4.13 from a G6e-T with only 287rwkW
12.
OK Guys, due to some good interest in these links I am putting up a Group Buy. Link to Product info Ball Type Sway Bar Links I need 5 people on the list before it goes ahead. Once the list is full I'll send out the banking details and the links will be sent via Couriers Please Air Bag - these are usually delivered overnight in most capital cities. Total will be $100 inlcuding express delivery. I'll keep the list open until the 15th, if you would like delivery beforehand, let me know and I'll send you the bank details straight away. 1. GR8XR6 2.
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but can I use these with blade adjustable after market swaybars? They aren't just for stock bars are they?
13. Wheels just did 7.2 in a ZF XR6, just ahead of new DI Late model camira 6spd auto, which did a 7.4
14. Any colour as long as it's not white, silver or grey. Last thing this country needs is another car in these non-colours.
15. That's right Ford can't sell em fast enough, because big heavy cars are in such high demand these days! Down about 70% from their peak sales. Maybe Ford should of learnt a lesson from Mazda about keeping a car light, since they owned a majority share. 90% of the nitwits that buy cars could give a toss about performance, all they care is economy, reliability and styling. I like the style of the FG, but it was a very conservative update and it could have been a killer. They actually saved 40kg of weight in the FG through various changes in the engine bay etc, and then added 50kg back to end up heavier than BF in an era when their sales were in the toilet and had 2 years to see the negative press Expensive Daewoo got on their lard arsed VE effort.
16. Ford only spent half what Expensive Daewoo did on VE, on the FG and it clearly shows. It was inexcusable they did not address the poor packaging of the BA/BF with it's ridiculously long overhangs. FG is a better car for sure, but not to have reduced weight and shorten overhangs was plain stupid. Anyhow the FG update next year should be good at least in way; the POS 5.4 V8 gets dumped for the new 100kg lighter Coyote 5.0 V8, so the car may get a well needed weight cut, although Ford finds it almost impossible to build lighter cars and will probably stuff the car full of useless crap to leave the weight almost the same. Yes and Expensive Daewoo sucks too for the massive weight increase of the VE.
17. I got Sydney Race brakes to fit DBA 5000, slotted and cross drilled rotors and their own formula pads and braided line, silicon fluid for ~$1650. The good thing is the DBA's allow for a larger pad than the factory one. Must say the pads are very good, with little dust, no squeal, progressive feel and pull up hard when needed.
18. Pretty lame the FPV's didn't offer the rev matching on the ZF. They claim their cars are world class, well start putting in the features of those cars, and how about paddles on the steering wheel.
19. They did very well in a Wheels (Motor?) tyre shoot out a few years back, won the test and were good in the wet and dry. Have a look at the Goodyear excellence tyres too, great tyre and not too dear. I haave 225/40 18 on my Golf and they go 55000km, but still grip well and pretty quiet compared to some I've used like Yokohama.
20. Unfortunately you are looking at the last nice looking Subaru model to probably be made. The new Liberty is an abomination, as is the new outback, and impreza. Subaru have finally lost the plot completely. This just superseded Liberty is a great looking car and it's hard to fathom how Subaru could sign off on the current design and look at themselves in the mirror.
21. If the power was 195kW and the torque was 380Nm as it can make, and if they stripped a 100kg of lard of the fat pig, yes it would make sense. However, Ford finds it impossible to make lightweight cars, and being so conservative, you can bet it'll be only making 150kW or so and lugging 1650+kg. However, whatever transpires this does not interest me in the least.
22. I expect nothing less from dick heads in authority; government and police are both are both a disgrace.
23. What can you say. The world is full of POS scumbags and they get away it. Were you in the car or was this parked out side your home?
24. I forget who, but I saw the KAAZ lsd kits now available for Ford. I think around the $2-2.5K for the kit.
