  1. Battery is in the standard Ford position. Sorry to disappoint you but I bought the top plenum and pipework off another forum member. I would offer to do it on an exchange basis - if only I had a TIG.... I hear the Wog is coming up with an affordable solution real soon. 2 WEEKS
  2. I already had the APS cooler and pipes fitted. So when I did the plenum mod, I just hacked up the APS pipe so it no longer goes around the front and aide of the motor, it just comes up and meets the front of the throttle body.
  3. Thanks. I'm amazed a 4" pipe made it over the axle. Is your exhaust an Xforce or custom or some other brand? BTW am I correct in assuming that fitting an exhaust without an edit is a waste of time? ← It's a hitech exhaust - all stainless. Yep - get yourself an edit or an exhaust like this will definately overboost.
  4. There's Dominello race transmissions in Dural, Sydney. They do the 4speed auto up to around 400rwkw power. MG has one and it's gone well for him. Mine is going there next week - he said expect up to $3500 for replacement everything, bands, clutches, solenoids and new, bigger planetaries. Should handle a good whooopin
  5. Pics posted up in another "plenum" thread. I couldn't fit a 90 degree silicon elbow from the throttle body and still clear the computer or bonnet. Using a 90 degree pipe with flanges to place the throttle body more forward and on a different angle. Works real well - throttle response is brilliant. No extra power or torque on the dyno, AFR's and boost levels are the same - but the throttle response and driveability is heaps better.
  6. I use em on ADSL 2+. Download speeds rock but I had heaps of dramas getting the service installed correctly - wrong phone numbers and all sorts of stuff. Their telephone support is a total shocker - I have waited over an hour most times to get through to someone. Unbelieveable that it could take so long AND then they win an award (!!!!) for having such good phone service. Having said that they are great once you get through to them... So mixed bag for me but I am still their customer.... 40 gig a month woohoo
  7. But do you think it's worth the money? I have no idea how much the other cats are. If you get what you pay for I'm not too fazed by the price if it's $550 and it's good. With your exhaust setup do you have a 3.5" exit on the cat then go to twin 2.5"? ← Yep I think it's worth the money that's why I did it. I think I am FAIRLY conscientious when it comes to value for money, but I reckon you need to buy real good intercoolers and cats that's why I have this Cat and an APS cooler. My setup has 4" dump, 5" cat (I.e. outside housing size), entry and exit to the cat is 4", then goes into a custom made "y" adaptor to fit the twin 2.5". This way there is HEAPS of flow. This goes into the first stainless muffler, then exits as a 4" single pipe over the axle, into the second stainless muffler and then twin tips. I dunno why there's a single 4" over the axle but that was already fitted when I bought the car. No dramas.
  8. I think it was around $550 or so....can't remember exactly.
  9. Oh? Do you remember who did it? What do you mean by 'burst'? ← I found it last week when searching around under "plenum". I think it was an EF turbo falcon that tried it. They reckoned the plastic pipe split after while of running it under boost. Remember it goes from vacuum to ~14psi pressure in an instant - it's quite a force. (depends how much boost you run). Actually I think it was someone that had an NA6 and made it into a turbo. And he was only running 5psi because he still had the NA computer and tune.
  10. OK so here's some pix and info of fitting a DRIF6 style intake manifold. Purchased this top half of the plenum from a forum member. The std mount for the TB has been cut, reversed and tigged back into place. Here's what it looks like bolted on...and you can see how much (little) room there is to fit plumbing between the computer. Trying to fit a 90 degree silicon bend take up a fair bit of room... And closing the bonnet....forget about it, just hits the bend So the solution had to be a welded pipe to move the TB around. I think I might paint it in that textured black pain to make it look a bit more factory RESULTS : Didn't look like it gave any more power on the dyno (hard to tell when you've got a rooted auto and used 2 different dynos) but without changing tunes all the AFR's stayed in the same range and power & torque looked about the same. Driveability is a lot better though, the response time to throttle inputs is just magic. Another important fact on this is that all my piping from the turbo outlet to the intercooler is 65mm (that's the intake size on the intercooler) and all outlet piping is 70mm (that's the outlet size on the intercooler) right through to the throttle body. So we are taking advantage of all the large sizes to keep restrictions to a minimum.
  11. Got em from Chalmers Tyre service in Alexandria. $1380 the pair.. ← Haven't heard of Tempe Tyres man? ← Yeah course I've heard of Tempe Tyres - who in australia hasn't? How do you think the cheapsh t tyres got on there in the first place. But go and have a look at their website and see if they stock Yokohamas..... No they don't. So that makes it hard to get these tyres from them. Having said that, if you have managed to get some real good 20's off Tempe that are another brand and are better/equivalent/more affordable I'd be glad to hear about it and take it on advice. ← You can get better tyre's, all you have to do is ask. ← Good - I'll do that when I need to get the fronts. p.s. I saw your car today - nice crack in the sump/block....!!!! But man, it looks like it goes HARD
  12. Well done RAP1D, your second effort was much better and looks very efficient. Can you show us a couple more pix how you did the intake to the turbo and the pod filter. I did the same mod myself this weekend (used the same black tubing I think too) but didn't manage to get it quite so neat. My K&N is stuck in behind the headlight and I still have the bettery in place. Maybe it's better inside the bumper like yours...
  13. Someone on the forum has previously used the NA6 intake and resonator pipe as you have proposed - and advised that it bursts under heavy boost pressure. So you might have to re-think your strategy there....
  14. Yep I've got their 5" Ballistic Cat as does Shane RAPIDF6 in QLD. I can only tell you what my car did - I fitted a 4" dump pipe, 5" cat, twin 2 1/2" system, larger injectors and APS intercooler. My car did an easy 330RWKW on the dyno and 12 sec 1/4 mile with lots of wheelspin. AFR's are all steady 12's. We then wound the power back a bit to preserve the rods. I have had no engine probs after driving the car for approx 6 months with that setup. I guess having very free flowing intake and exhaust systems helps the engine make good, reliable power. p.s. those cats are F$@#()G Expensive so weigh up your options.
  15. Thanks Panda you're a legend, you don't have the pinouts for the factory amplifier as well do you?

  17. Hey bob, would you care to share what all the pinouts are here on this thread? The search function is a POS
  18. Got em from Chalmers Tyre service in Alexandria. $1380 the pair.. ← far out! My 19's cost $1300 a SET ← Yeah Glenn but 19's are so 1990's.... Did you get the same kinda tyre or Nankangs for the price? I must say after the first day of driving with these AVS103's they have got a STACK more traction than my previous tyres (and quieter too) so pretty happy so far.
  19. bboss rims. They are in an ad in the same magazine you scanned your pic from. Performance Fords I think it is, and the ad is a couple of pages away from the article you're reading.
  20. Yeah love the APril Fool's day cruise - tops idea. We could even make it a "car rally" with checkpoints etc for a bit of added spice. I can't make it to the Snowy cruise either -spewin - I'm in Vegas checking out the silicon levels at that time.... But I would have thought that for next year's calendar a cruise up through that famous (twisty) road to the Hunter Valley would be an awesome idea. Say cruise up Sat, stay at Hunter Valley resort/pub/whatever for a few bevvies and laughs and then home on Sun. For those that can't do the whole weekend they can easily cruise back Sat arvo. Or for those in Newcastle, they can cruise with us to Sydney on Sunday and then head back to Newcastle Sun arvo - would get most people involved.

  22. Agreed, but how. I already have the SSL at the back. Not too keen on gettin the grinder out...but I might have to!!!
  23. Ghia, thanks for the replies - I'm gonna look at this DVD on the weekend and mayyyyyybe buy
  24. hawwwww haw haw not baaaaaaad
  25. Well kids I paid the money and got em fitted today. Cleared the rear guards beautifully and look HORN on these rims - far better than the 225's on them before. Remember, this is on Kings SSL springs as well. coupla happy snaps
