  1. Congrats bubby they're an awesome ride, I know first hand, pity the mk'11's manuals still seem to have shunt, good luck and enjoy I know I still am.
  2. Congrats mate, they're an awesome machine, brakes, note, looks, and continuous stares they get every single day they're on the road. Did you get prem sound and the sports GT steering wheel? or are they standard in the MK 11, I would have to recommend these as minmum options in a car like this, there are mark 1 GT's out there with the bottom stereo and small screen which I find amazing for a $60k car. Anyway best of luck Rob
  3. Good luck to FPV I've had nothing but an outstanding run with the GT. No issues after 28,000k's, and still gets stronger from month to month, and is still one of if not the sexiest Aussie out of the current crop out there.
  4. Agree Simon, lcd are over priced for screen size and actual picture quality with fast moving action scenes they are still not that good at all, sluggish as others have suggested, response time is the problem. Even though they have low power consumption and long life I still dont like em on anything other than a PC. Zeke shares my thought exactly, have viewed the latest Pioneer a number of times on HD TV and dvd and its quite stunning and the Pana equivalant is very good also. Seem to be I'm a sucker for good brand name and have had nothing but great service and minimal probs from brand name products, cannot comment on LG as have only ever stuck with Pioneer and Panasonic type brands. When released a few months ago the Pioneer was retailing for around $10k now they can be had for $8k, Id be pumping some big Melb retailer for $7.5k cash, or get them to throw in a HD box or dvd recorder, you never know, unless someone here can do better, which would be great, I'll be at the show, might see you there. Cheers Rob
  5. Are the Russians still using Valves in their Radar and flight control systems, or have they realised that HOPEFULLY we wont be nuking each other anytime soon? I assume this Vector Thrusting is similar to Harrier tech, thrust is deflected elsewhere but straight back? Assists in movement and turning and such? Lumpy <{POST_SNAPBACK}> yeah it works in the same way but the harrier engines only moves verticle. Lets just hope the yanks or britts bring the Harrier... very very loud!!! Rob... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Somewhere I read there will be Harrier at the show doing a verticle take off and landing, I've been dreaming all my life to check that one out. All we need now is 4 inches of rain and low cloud cover, all tickets are nonrefundable, Im not usually the religous type but "please oh please let the weather god be with us"
  6. Hey Merc. Whats the gold pass cost and whats it include? Rob <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Its on the site but a one day pass is $145 per person, 2 days is $270 (Ithink) and 3 day is $400, Gold pass is basically a grandstand seat and free parking, Friday GP allows over 18's access to the Aerospace expo from 10 am, and the flying displays from 2 pm, its all on the airshow site. Rob.
  7. I think it was 4 years ago when the B1-B made a fly by direct from Amberly air base, (I think that's what they called it) it did 2 passes a slow speed and a high speed, I thought the sound was going to blow my head off, that thing is absolutely awesome. Got to speak to one of the pilots, nice young Yank, told me a few things it can do. Farken scary stuff. 2 Gold passes are in my possesion for the Sunday, my son and me, Mark what day are you going?
  8. Gents could anyone answer this? I have noticed the benefits of an LSD on standard sedans and wagons in muddy off road conditions, saved me from drifting into table drains a number of times when I go mucking around outback NSW, and it appears Terri RWD may not have it standard or even as an option, which is disappointing, anyone know anything? Thanks
  9. starter button, I push it almost every day, its insignifigant and irrelevent and I find myself bored writing about it, there must be something more interesting to talk about, as long as the 290 fires up and continues to perform as brilliantly as it does, who cares how you start it, flick a switch, push a button, yell at it, lazer eye recognition
  10. My experience has been outstanding with the FPV. Apart from a noisy console lid and tight fuel cap I've had not one single drama with my car and its overall quality is excellent, no shunt that I can tell at all. The engine used 0.5 litre oil in the first 15,000k's and not a drop since, 26,000k's. Apart from the shunt which seems to affect mainly manual BA's across the range, Flint and his team have done an excellent job in my view.
  11. Fair enough, though my front pads are at around 40% rears at 70% after 26000k's and discs look fine, that's on a heavier GT. Depends on driving style. Also a quick few phone calls after seeing your scary prices, saw me able to get a set of front Premo pads for under $200 and front rotors for around half your quoted price, so effectively could have all parts for close to $800, which is not too bad at all
  12. Since then it has been our first choice among the Aussie muscle V8s, ahead of anything from Expensive Daewoo Special Vehicles and also up and away from a bunch of other performance cars, including a range of Alfas and even some of the Audi-BMW-Volvo hopefuls. We also enjoyed the fuel economy, which was pretty good at 13.7 litres/100km. The result is better than FPV's tests at 15.3 litres, but we did a fair bit of highway running when the engine was barely working and consumption was better than 10 litres/100km. Still, there are people who want a Falcon GT and only a Falcon GT. What they will find in the MkII is a car that is even better and still a benchmark for local performance cars. Couple of strong perhaps controversial statements/opinions there, considering LS2. Good news/review for GT and FPV and they need it after Phoon debacle. The stock steering wheel is definately crap, why they go cheap on stuff like that is beyond comprehension, then charge $900 odd for the privilage of a wheel that would cost at most $200 more to produce.
  13. What can one do at this place? Is there plenty for kids to do? Who has been and can comment? Thanks Rob
  14. Cancel Typhoon? hell yes. $60k and still no sound, no bulge, no GT name WTF!! This car had to be quicker than xr6T and GT by a second and a half stock for me to even consider it over GT, and have an auto, so at least it had some straight line speed advantage going for it. I would cancel immediately and buy a GT if you're spending $60k. Potential or not (and the Boss has a fair bit, re Hypnodocs, APS twin turbo developement, edit, etc). This appears to be a bad dream. Does not add up or make sense at all.
  15. Naomi Watts and Liz Hurly preferably together, at the same time.

Have owned both for 12 months and love em both for different reasons, both autos, both completely unmodified, both driven and treated the same. The turbo I loved because of its outstanding value for money or bang for buck, but the cheap brakes, slightly worse build quality, and the sheer number of them on the road. Made it lose its shine just a tad. The GT is 10-20% stronger/faster/quicker, whichever way people might like to put it but you need 10000 k's to clearly feel this. The GT when new felt no quicker than the turbo. But now, after 24,000km's in GT there is no competition. My turbo seemed to get better with plenty of km's but with GT you feel the increase in power more dramatically from month to month. I belive GT is the most stunning looking Ford yet. As far as resale goes, my GT is up for sale and I have had strong private buyer interest at $48900, and believe I am close to selling this car at very close to this price. I will keep it if I dont. Considering its retail price this represents approx 25% first year depreciation, this I believe is acceptable, the turbos are better again I think. Oh did I mention the sound? That bulge, the seats, 255km'h speed limiter, the outstanding premium brakes, unless you're into modding and all the issues that go with it, insurance, warranty etc, I believe the GT is simply sensational if you can afford it, especially in the auto. The attention I recieved when I had the "T" was amazing, but nothing compared to the vixen GT. Al (Redhawlk) will verify this. Blasting through the back of the otways with 290kw of V8 gave me a spine tingling feeling the turbo could not match.
  17. Hi Rob, mate you know sometimes you just get a pig, well after 2000 kliks behind the wheel I have come to the conclusion that No 13 is just that. Lost a lot of power from 2 - 3500 rpm, doors don't close properly and rattle, paint blemishes, rattley trim, crook wheel balance or driveshaft, bouncy bouncy at high speed even with the Pedders, big scratch in rear RH rim that the dealer has gone into complete denial over, never got a proper PD. I could go on but I won't. The one thing I will give it is the mid range acceleration and I'm sure that there will be many fine examples of this car turn up on the roads and with a re-flash or a unichip and injectors they will be an awesome bit of gear. I just have an overall disappointment in this particular car that has tainted me against it. Back to the future with a Mk 2 GT for me from a different dealer. I even got offered a cheap reflash etc etc, but with this Typhoon it is too Ho Hum for me to even bother <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ahh that's a shame buddy. Mk2 GT or Euro? Maybe Jap like Simon? Cheers Rob
  18. Congrats Rossco, stunning colour, best of luck with it
  19. Agree Simon, (off topic ahead) tell me what do you think of Territory after your battles with the "other" Ford, how is this one, driveline, quality, faults etc
  20. Hi Turbo6man. I sent the GT to Qld for my salesmanager. Never thought I'd say it but I'm going to try something of a Japanese or European vintage this time The Typhoon is no more than an over-rated xr6 T IMHO, and I think FPV should have stayed away from it or built a car that lived up to expectations. It is good to see that most of the new Typhoon owners are happy but mine gives me all the thrills of driving an XT sedan. I think the GT will continue to reign supreme in their stable. Geeseman, I just don't like the thing, over rated and under powered for what it was supposed to be or could have been <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hey Rick what is going on, what has happened? Al have you spoken to him? Apart from a whiny diff you mentioed no real issues and a sensational car. Can you clarify?
  21. Wow man that's cruel hope it gets sorted soon. Great adjectives. Phoon or GT?
  22. mercturbo replied to KEN 24T's topic in FPV & Tickford
Although rapid is very nice, it just doen't seem quite right (if that makes sense, (which it doesn't) red 1st (outstanding) obviously and light strike 2nd are my fav's for GT.
  23. Hi MYF6. Have you had the phase 2 installed yet? Now that the car is sorted I have toi wait until the new year. They have a brand new "Special Holiday HWP" or something that the Police Minister has been raving about, these guys are going to cruise the higways, especially the freeways. looking for speeders, mobile phoners, and no seat belters on WA roads for the whole xmas holiday period amnd its double points. Therefore I will be on cruise control for a significant amount of the time. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Good to see the Typh sorted Doc, tell me does cruise control work at 220plus km//h? I've only recently had my GT over that by a tad and only for a few seconds and was curious whether these FPV's will hold that speed in cruise. Over here Bracks and his Mexican revenue raising army would almost see you in jail for doing a speed like that on a public road (not that I would ever speed on a public road )
  24. Firstly Rick, its a shame you cant bring Typhoon over pre xmas. Secondly if it was me who spent $65k on that car, I doubt I could restrain myself as much as you. My posts if it were me would be unpostable. As far as swapping brands goes, I wish you luck, but I must mention I have personal friends and work associates who wouldnt waste their spit on their HSV, one guy is on hid 3'rd diff, another his second engine rebuild, It'll be pot luck as with many Aussie built things.
