Nice!

I'll also argue that decent data is MORE important for the newer generation of aftermarket ECU's. With these you add the available injector data and then go about tuning the VE table from scratch or from a supplied base tune. With th a factory falcon PCM for example most people these days are just using the supplied breakpoint and battery offset values and then adjusting the slopes to meet the fueling demands. At best I've seen guys do some lowering of the speed density slope at higher RPM to add fuel but without touching the offset you are adding fuel at low manifold pressure (like decel) where it isn't always needed....ok if you like flames!! In all the tunes I've seen I have never ever seen anyone use the supplied hi and low slope data and correctly adjust the SD slope and offset. Add cams where the low rpm airflow is less and the mid to high airflow is greater and you see greater fudging of the supplied injector slope data.

KPM does not do any serious work above anyone else. KPM and Injector Dynamics are not even in the same league. There are heaps of other brands that do exactly the same thing as ID. ID originally machined the head of a common EV-14 injector (52lb'er iirc) to create the ID1000 as there was a big void in the market for a high flowing injector. Many others then replicated the process, KPM being one of them. Bosch since made the 0 280 158 040 for the Polaris snow mobile and they flow about 1180 cc/min at 3 bar. A lot of people are using these instead of the ID's now and a re a decent base injector. There are other brands that did the same as ID in that they had Bosch injectors made for them. The 1650cc Bosch injector was made specifically for ASNU (has a unique number for them) but is also distributed by Bosch under a different identification number. Everyone is selling these now and they're also a decent base injector. The ID1300 and ID1700 are a very unique injector and is what separates ID from the rest these days. However there are a lot more high flowing quality options compared to what was available in 2010 for example. Today actually marks six years my BA heapa has been running on e85 and I have been following the evolution of injectors since. There are plenty of aftermarket ECU's that require decent data. Haltech Elite etc needs decent data if your VE table is going to be correct.

Yeah they all use the same 2200cc CNG injector. Raceworks advertise different data to ID also.
-
If they're the Bosch 2200cc, Injector Dynamics have already determined when they go non-linear. Radium engineering do a good fuel pulse dampener.

Why go high comp? It just limits what you can do with the car. Stick with 8.5 comp IMO and let your turbo do what it's designed to do.
-
No I never used or even seen what Sniper can access.
-
Stick with SCT where you can, it has access to more parameters and is basic in its layout.

The Wa Cruise Ideas Thread
IH8TOADS replied to sixappeal's topic in Western & Northern Australia (WA, NT)
The RAC track is good fun. I have taken my Evo there but not the falcon...it's probably a bit tight for the falcon. The No Limits events would be your best bet. Barbs is good fun in the Falcons! I have never been on the Collie track so can't comment there. -
No point in this weather IMO. I can't make 23rd either.

^^ mad bugger haha. I thought I was keen. I re-tested the compression with Tony when I thought Inhad bent a rod and it came back at 180 to 185 so I reckon there was an issue with the last gauge I was using. Rods have crossed my mind a lot!! I really just need to get a motor built and ready to drop in. One day!!
-
I will get the twin bush set-up welded in the back and then the IRS is pretty much as bulletproof as it's going to get. The Opt 5 twin plate is the weak point after that....then the tailshaft. My skinny rods and stock oil pump are also the issue and need to survive their fourth Powercruise! Grudge racing sounds fun, keen for that!!
-
I'll take that as a yes lol.
-
From my experience, and I've used them a bit, the deka's aren't too bad at all if they're a closely matched set. You can get them to behave as good as ID's. I'm not sure if there are people buying them in bulk and matching them anymore as most seem to be using EV-14's. They Deka 60's probably have a better spray pattern than an ID, being a 30 degree cone. The ID's are more of a firehose in comparison as the cone is smaller.

The guys who do the scrutineering are pretty ruthless and your car needs to be in race ready condition with no oil leaks, full brake pads etc. I nearly didn't pass and only had one shot at scrutineering as I was heading overseas and arrived back in Australia the day of Racewars (...then had a wedding on that day so missed the first day). I was told to fix a very small leak on the turbo oil return and install new brake pads, however I had zero time and managed to talk them into re-checking the car on the second day of Racewars. I fixed the issues and they passed me but with all the commotion I forgot to load in the high speed tune lol. My only 1000m run didn't gain any mph over the 800m so I knew I had an issue, so I left it there and went home. It wasn't until I sucked the tune out with HP afterwards that I found out I f**ked up. Worst part is I hounded Stever to get his tuner to remove his limiter haha. Anyway, valuable lesson. For those who are entering, make sure the car is in tip top condition and don't skimp on a decent tyre!! So the list so far is: - EFFXR6T - Turboknapp - Stever - IH8TOADS - mummba I'd be keen to organise a decent sized house if any others are!? Accommodation will probably book out fairly quick towards the end of the year as it's going to be a decent sized event!

It's fairly different, that isn't turbo noise.....but such a mean skid!!! Best vid!!
-
I have a CRG high mount and the quality is average. My 6BOOST low mount was a better product in my opinion. Highmount and lowmount both stick out like dogs balls!!! There's no escape if the bonnet gets lifted haha. Few guys here have seen this already, but here's my entry for the loudest turbo on a Barra!

SCT xcal3 or 4? Advice needed
IH8TOADS replied to NathanB's topic in Engine Management & Fuel Systems
As long as the logging device doesn't need to read the strategy to draw the Direct Memory Request info like Forscan or Livelink (Gen II with the x4 should be ok) then you should be fine. -
Stay away from fiberglass bonnets!! Personally I don't even think a vent is needed. Mine was fine thermal coated and wrapped. I wouldn't bother with a shield or venting. A small vent won't hurt though!
-
@Ralph Wiggum your manifold doesn't have welds, so might as well make it a 200 shot haha.
-
Come to Powercruise, that's more fun anyway.
-
I've launched mine off the two step and done numerous high speed runs, if mine was going to break its had enough opportunity. F series are weaker than b series though. I could list a number of things that will fail before my tailshaft, but I'll just talk myself out of Racewars.
-
I had a 6BOOST low mount and a heat shield wasn't that effective and looked like poo. I ended up using titanium wrap and riveting a good quality heat shield material to the bonnet above the manifold. Worked well!!
-
B-series tailshafts are ok. I've damaged a halfshaft, diff and T56 while the tailshaft has been fine. All you should need is a shaft loop. Steve has run both years with the speed limiter on and has enjoyed it. I simply forgot to load my racewars tune! Was still fun though, even though I only did maybe 3 or 4 runs. Im not expecting anymore than one or two people from here to go given that no one even bothers with Powercruise, which is a much easier and cheaper event to get involved in. Weekemd cruises are fun but these events give you the freedom to push the limits more.
