You can drive around no worries, worst case is you will hit the over-boost threshold and will go into limp mode. Not worth the effort with out some complimentary mods and tune though.

I have a single 50mm off the merge collector (average angle too) and don't have any issues controlling boost. Good to see Garrett finally have a new turbine on a GT35 frame. Still no EFR though!!

Fuel economy is the only down side ive noticed in a more aggressive cam. The mild Atomic 4's I have see a noticable drop in economy.

I have Stage 4 Atomic Cams. They drop straight in, work well with VCT and were easy to tune. As expected fuel economy will go down hill though. I've got mine sounding stock and the car drives mint, you wouldn't know it had bigger cams. You know they're helping airflow because if you run an open loop boost control system you will drop about 1.5 - 2psi off you boost curve. Add the boost back in, and tune to suit, you obviously pick up power. The Stage 4's aren't overly aggressive and I still make peak power around 5300rpm. On a Faraone Mainline Hub dyno, GTX35, 18psi, Stage 4 cams I made 460kw at the axles.

Racewars wouldn't allow the 3rd / 4th gear skids that you can do at PC. Was about $600 a car for Carport and entry. So $1200 in entry fees, $1200 in tyres and ~$350 in fuel. Still cheaper than a weekend in Ibiza.

Thy was a fun 3 days! The number of cars was a lot less than the previous 3 years I have entered which was a bit disappointing but all in all it was great and had no dramas!

No bush mechanics don't wear safety gear, he is definitely a hack....just happens to be a very talented one.

To load factory tunes in is quite cheap actually. Just need a Bosch Lt flasher/Mongoose cable and a subscription iirc. @Ralph Wiggum uses it and has demonstrated that access to be very useful even to the backyard hack.

When you plug in a new xcal it will suck up the file that's currently loaded and treat it as a 'stock' file. So yes you need Ford IDS software to load a stock file on first to make sure the process works as planned. If Autotech have the IDS, and all good worshops should, then they can do it all in house as I have already said.

Basically buy a new xcal and get your tuner to load your custom tunes on it. Drive down to Ford and get them to load a factory tune in it. The load your custom tune in. Otherwise your tuner can sort it all if he has the correct ford access software.

Would need to know the gear ratios for the WRX but that's light and powerful. If it has standard ratios it will do well in the 800m. My Evo IX I have taken to 220 and its almost out of legs. It's a weapon around town but my XR has a lot more go at high speed.
