Theres not many, but Mazdas line up is a good example of cars that are basically faultless. Mazda 3 and Mazda 6 in particular. Its not about having some faults, but Ford & Expensive Daewoo certainly win awards for being at the higher end.. Its just interesting to see if anyone out there has been lucky enough to buy a BA / BF and not have any issues with it. I know plenty of people who buy Mazdas, Toyotas and Subarus that never have any warranty work done on them. My Best mates mum has an 04 Liberty with 70,000 kays on it that's never been near Subaru, hes a mechanic and services it himself, it lives on a dirt road and is still as tight as the day they picked it up. ← The thing is though, applying the logic of these threads distorts it all out of proportion. My sister had a Mazda 323 and it was nothing short of a lemon, I can only recall one other person with a mazda and his is OK – so therefore 50% of all mazdas are lemons. Am I correct? And the fact that there are several thousand falcons roaming the streets of Brisbane with hundreds of thousands of k's on the clock is a fair testament isn't it? Of course otherwise all the taxis would be Mazdas, Toyatas, Suburus or BMWs wouldn’t they? ← Theres No doubting Ford offers a cheap, reliable long lasting car, but look at the bigger picture. Reliability and quality are two different things. Falcons are Reliable, they do the job but how good do they do it? Things like diff whine, driveline clunks, poor interior fit and finish, paint and so on is the issue alot of people here have experienced with their T's. The worse part about the whole thing is though half of the problems could be resolved quiet easily if Ford actually pulled their fingers out and did something about it, theres problems that were found with early build cars that were NEVER rectified on the production line, some of them were small, otheres were bigger but at the end of the day they could and should have been dealt with. My question is how does Ford continue to fork out money for Warranty claims? Why not spend the money to start with in getting the things right... ← Remember that a number of the "common known issues" are with third party manufactured parts. Ford does not directly manufacture a large percentage of the car. The suppliers actually cover the cost for warranty repairs NOT Ford (ie. Diffs, Gearboxes etc).

I had a Toyota Corolla Sportivo that had a faulty Oil Level Light. I had a VZ Ute that had a faulty Fuel Gauge. I have had 3 BA Falcons that have had several issues but all fixed with minimal hassle, the BAs have provided the better owning experience IMHO.

Do Ford make an Auto Gear Stick that matches the Dark Pearl Steering Wheel? If so, what do these cost?

Stripe it!! By the way, great pic of your car. Are the skirts and the front bar AWC items?

Glad to hear that your family are OK, as you said, the car can be fixed! Still not a good sight to see a phoon in that condition! -
Sure you don't have any openings for employment?? I could do with a share of FPV...

Might just be that your car is jinxed.... I have had cause to visit Lane on several occasions for warranty work and servicing and have been unable to fault them. example: turned up at 8.30 on a Sat morning to get them to look at the traces of coolant on my radiator end tank (was barely leaking), they said we can replace the radiator now under warranty, will take about 2 hours and here's a loan car. I demand good service and normally rarely receive it.....

I am surprised to hear that it was Lane Ford, I have only had VERY positive experiences with them. Give Amanda a call at service, she will set you right.

Sorry to see Ian, hope you get Goldie back on the road soon.....

Was it Challenger Ford?

Most people go the other way, why do you want the 4 speed auto over the 6 speed manual??
-
That looks great, can we see some more pics and info on the setup?? I am keen to do the same!!

XRBrett: Can you please provide dealers details? My dealer is Lane Ford at Mandurah, they may be looking after me better than normal as I did originally buy the car from them..
-
Thanks for the positive comments....

Being a demo he wouldn't have placed a new vehicle order. If your contract shows it as MKII I would be phoning them to "please explain"

Picked the car up on Monday, Diff is excellent, I didn't know it was so bad!! When I use SSS it is silky smooth.... Whilst there I mentioned the whine in first gear, after a test drive and a call to ION a replacement gearset is on the way! Very Happy Again!!!

Sorry to see the damage, proves yet again that the world is full of ass oles!

I had my local dealer check out my diff about 4 weeks ago in response to a whine at 90km/h (common BA fault) and an occasional clunk... They immediately ordered a replacement diff and it arrived on Friday (had to be built I was told). I thought I would mention the undersize front rotors and also the lack of meat on the front pads (bought the car about two months ago with premium brakes and 60k kms on the clock). They phoned to say that they will be replacing the rotors and pads under warranty (used car warranty I assume) and whilst they were replacing the diff they had also found that a bush was worn out and asked if they could keep the car till Monday to also replace this. More than happy, just have to drive the loan Focus all weekend!!

How many forum members does it take to change a light bulb? One to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed. Fourteen to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently. Seven to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs. Seven more to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs. Five to flame the spell checkers. Three to correct spelling/grammar flames. Six to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" ... Another six to condemn those six as stupid. Fifteen to claim experience in the lighting industry and give the correct spelling. Nineteen to post that this group is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb (or light bulb) forum. Eleven to defend the posting to the group saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this group. Thirty six to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty. Seven to post URLs where one can see examples of different light bulbs. Four to post that the URLs were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL. Three to post about links they found from the URLs that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group. Thirteen to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too" Five to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy. Four to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?" Thirteen to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs." Three to tell a funny story about their cat and a light bulb. AND One group lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now with something unrelated that they found at snopes.com<about:blank> and start it all over again!

The Typhoon comes standard with the prestige interior command centre (Dual Climate Control and TFT Colour Screen). It is optional on the Tornado, probably just a cost factor to bring the price of the Tornado down.
