  1. Mal. When they did my ute they said they dialed in 8 psi at 3000rpm and achieved the power I so desired,Stage one.My ute was not getting the same power out of it compared to sedans which was exhaust related,About 5kw.All the cars they seem to have done so far seem to either need more or less boost to achieve the same figure but only marginal corrections.Another ute was done the next day and required 9psi for exactly the same result. With the unichip in I am getting better fuel economy and heaps better driveability with the automatic shifting etc.I must add to that remember the feeling that you had when first picking your T and saying to yourself F--k this thing goes and then you get used to it over time,I just got the feeling back.

    My New Xr6t

Dont forget to tick the box with the good brake package mate or you will be posting in the Brake Shudder issue forum before you no it.Enjoy mate and you will just love it.
  3. When your ute was on the dyno mate were you getting any sign of drivetrain vibration under load?.Mine was terrible and felt like the tailshaft was going to come off.The sensation is like a tight rear uni.Ant comments or thiughts would be much appreciated.
  4. Marc. I dont no if you have posted a picture of the mesh you fitted plus badge but would like to see a picture of the front of your car if possible.Craig from ELN said he has done about 6 cars so far so I am sure there is someone on this forum that could supply a picture of there work.I Like the factory look that's not over the top.

    Xr6t Review

iaschmidt I find it most interesting that the power figures on your car are exactly the same as mine when modified but I have retained the same exhaust etc.The standard stuff they must be fitting be Ok to an extent.I was advised the next stage to 330kw will need the exhaust and injectors upgraded but very impressed what these guys are doing to these cars.Drivability and fuel consumption plus shifting of the Auto is all so much smoother as well.Probley the way it should of been in the first place. For any of you guys pondering the thought of modifying,Just do it and enjoy.

Mals BA XR6T. Want to have the urge of your old XR8 like me,Go for a cruise down to Vic and see APS to fit a unichip.I have retained the standard exhaust,Airbox etc and have a T with V8 grunt down low with better fuel consumption. You think your T is quick now what till you have one of these things fitted,Just ballastic.
  7. Cheese. I cant seem to access your PM address so here is details as requested. ELN ford in wyong is doing all the work for the S/S insert over the intercooler. They also fitted the fog light or spot light covers as well.I no its abit of a drive but only a hour away to Wyong is small price to pay for decent service.I have had some s--t service in Sydney and find these guys so good at there job.Speak to Craig in service or Dean is the dealer principle.I would feel confident in recommending these guys for all your service needs plus I personally will be buying from them a new T in 2 years time.
  8. I was getting my car serviced yesterday and they suggested that they fit this clear quite thick stick on cover to my foglights as so many XRs had come in with smashed lights. As someone suggested its maybe the 3M stuff but all they do is cut it to size and stick it in.What a quick and easy fix.Very impressed and the good thing you cant see it at all. I must not spend to much time at the dealer but as they also suggested a a full S/S insert to be fitted in front of the intercooler so next friday that's going to happen.Looking forward to that as like the look of the GTP one.

    BRAKE SHUDDER ISSUE

I did not want to go back again for another machine job and invested in some DBA crossed drilled and slotted rotors.I think it is the best thing I have done for the car but have only had them on for 1500km or 2 weeks.Braking now can be done with abit of confidence and going down long hills like down to wollongong from Sydney much better, the steering wheel is Not trying to throw me out the window anyway.Bite the bullit guys and just do it,You will never look back. I do still reckon it is a milage related matter as everybody is going to have the problem after say 8-9000km.We all no that machineing is not working plus even if the dealer replaces them under warranty its only going to come back as same composition disc will be put in.Just depends I spouse how much time and patience one has.
  10. My T ute gets around 10-12 around town and have had it down to 9.6 on the expressway to Victoria.Put some more km on it mate as it will get better. I have done over 15000km and alot better when run in abit.
  11. Just posted a problem regarding my ute regarding this matter as thought surely the sedans dont have it.My ute nearlly jumped off a dyno 2 weeks ago and need feedback from any other ute owners.Vibration only under hard acceleration.
  12. A question for ute owners only regarding drive train vibration. I noticed this problem or vibration in my last ute [AU2 XR8] that under heavy load or hard acceleration it had the feeling of a tight rear universal or tailshaft vibration that they have not really cured with the BA.The models in the rear end are exactly the same with 1 piece tailshaft with leaf springs and was wondering if the diff is moving off centre on heavy loads causeing the rear uni to not be in phase. This problem really showed itself up on a dyno 2 weeks ago.On prevoius high output models with the 351 they used to fit a panhard rod to stop the twisting of the diff but not on these things.Funny that these cars are putting out more power than any prevoius model. Has anybody else come across this vibration before?.

    BRAKE SHUDDER ISSUE

I'm waiting on pads, then we will do some more benchmark testing. Bendix are due in a week or so and Ferodo about 4 to 6 weeks. I'm having a set of Ferodo Racing pads cut down too for a bit of spirited fun. The best way (we think) to test shudder is to closely monitor street vehicles used in different driving environments. Dyno's don't do left foot braking, tow boats/caravans, or club track days. EBC sent me info on the new Green Stuff release for Australian cars. Hopefully it will end the battle between us on rotor/pad compatability. I thought it was a bit funny that after all the denials about resin problems that we now have Green compound version 5 (Ultra) for Australian cars. Good luck to them. At least they are putting in the effort and we will support them 100% if the results are good. DBASTEVE. Bit the bullit yesterday and bought some of your companies crossed drilled front discs as going back to the dealer again for a 2nd machine job was not going to happen. Most of my driving is done around around the city but have just returned from a trip to Victoria.I would nearlly class the shudder to be dangerous specially trying to slow from 115kmh.Shudder came back under 2000km from 1st machine job. You are most welcome to the discs if you desire.I was contemplating useing them for pot plant holders in my garden but dont no if the pot would sit flat on the surfuce. Will comment next week on how they go after the weekend.
  14. This guy has some good points regarding the T regardless if they are positive or negative depending on your personnal point of view.I look at the positives coming from this respose as regardless if he has one on order or not you can nearlly assume that if allott of subjects have been addressed be it the brake shudder problem if any,Oil breather pipe blowing off or any number of numerous things.I have personnally got alot of knowledge regarding this car and potential problems that may be about to happen and there will be a fix I am sure posted. This would be a recommended site to view to make your mind up on buying a T and constructive comments from people from all walks of life.Sometimes its good to listen to people from outside the circle or square.
  15. In my opinion mate if you have a good family friend who you can trust with your baby get him to do it.Just put all ford parts when serviceing like filters etc.Ford has to look after people with there warrantie issues if any regardless were you get your car serviced if useing genuine parts. He will put a better quality oil in that will be cheaper plus give you peace of mind that your car is not being flogged when the car in for service plus your labour rate will be OK. I wonder if one day I will see someone wake up and realise that after sales service can be more important than the original sale of the car in the first place.Repeat business is the only thing that will keep them alive.
  16. Everybody should have the pleasure of driving a T ute.Nothing better.

    BRAKE SHUDDER ISSUE

Yes mate, You have some very good points.Had a EA with factory ordered oil leaks,Shocking brakes and a transmission that I was just awfull. My next was a 95 EF Fairmont that was basically the same but spat the aircon compressor twice and threw the hamonic balancer into the radiator twice and the 3rd time decided to go backwards and kill the crank angle sensor. The automatic doors locks used to go up and down like a yoyo 4 times,Lost all my coolant at 30000km and stuffed all coolant hoses and I was luckie to get 20000km out of a set of pads let alone scrubbing tyres on the outside fronts at 15000km but apart from that it was a good car [Not].My next was a exploror which was the best of the lot then a XR8 series 2 that was a great car to so what has happened?. Could you describe a make of car or model as having generic problems?.

    BRAKE SHUDDER ISSUE

Maybe this would be a good idea on bedding in brakes on this car Turbo6man but reality is the car has made available for Mr or Mrs average to buy a proformance car with comfort and reliability that looks good to.I just want to drive the thing,To be honust I love how it goes and gets respectable fuel consumption and has a good ride too.I dont think the average person who are luckie enough to have one of these things wants to be instructed on how to bed in brakes if this is the problem. The question will always be from your dealer if the problem occurs in the first place is how have you been driving the car to result in this shudder?.Your word against them mate and you feel as if your doing something wrong,I dont think so.BMW tried this bedding in thing years ago and had that many brake problems,Warranty issues I think it heart them in the end. I am glad to hear that the Ford guy is aware of this issue and I am sure they will realise a upgrade so that a P plater at 18 or a grandmother can get into this car and have no problems. What it should of been in the first place,Suitable for everybody regardless of driving style,Age or Km driven.

    BRAKE SHUDDER ISSUE

I would like to know the other mods they have tried on your car to fix this problem mate apart from machineing.Have you had a set of DBA rotors fitted already with no success?.Have they tried different compound pads maybe. The Ford proving ground guy commented that they are aware of this problem which is a start to admit it I spose but this is really not helping you or anyone else concerned here. Taking on Ford legally,Well you just as well go out the back and tear up $100 bills to feed your fire.I feel pretty confident that a fix is on its way,Sooner than later I hope. Why dont you email the ford guy direct and see if you get any response. He seems to be the only contact on this site with inside information that might be usefull.Maybe he can enlighten everybody why this problem is returning all the time and if it is due to a disc or pad compound problem,Or is there to much heat been generated and not escaping.Who knows.
  20. Take it easy in the ute mate expecially in the wet. These utes can be very sideways at a drop of a hat,No T/C.So much fun but I have to admit.Enjoy as you wont get the smile of your dial for weeks. Some pics would be good.

    BRAKE SHUDDER ISSUE

You nearlly get to the stage of laughing when they give the look of disbelief and they say that no other car has suffered the problem.Get ready for another machine job mate and to save the hassle just book your car in for shuddering in say end of July. This should give them plenty of time to organize the guy in the van to come around and do the job for you. This just really annoys me when people get treated as if there is no problem. Get that update happening Ford or the only thing the T will be referred to in the future is,GREAT CAR BUT S--T BRAKES.
  22. Have been on to these people waiting for there unit to be put on the market.Looks alot better than there own discription.Like that factory look. They have I assume included the air directors in the kit mate?. I am coming up to Qld next month so looks like I will be getting one for sure.Very good.

    Giant Leap

Ninka. I am very impressed with your little handy work,Takes allot of time to do something like that. When you have got your final dyno figures make sure you post them up on this thread.I would be very interested to see the AFRatios before and after. This way of modifying sounds the way to go. I wonder why your car was only showing 173 kw before mods were done?.Seems to be a few variations in car outputs for all the Ts.Maybe your boost was only set on the low side of 6psi.Get the tuner to print your boost curve if possible as well. Well done mate,Have to get this stuff done I think.I will blame you for this decision.

    BRAKE SHUDDER ISSUE

Turbo6man. I should of realized your TS came with the good brake package being the top of the line car but you never no with Ford,You will probley advise me you had to option this as well.I wonder if the the big brake package is made from the same disc material effecting all the T cars as I would not of thought you would have had to have this done or come across this problem. JCV8. You are right mate with your fix,Dont wait for it to come back just fix it for good and be done with it.Will be going down this track I think.

    BRAKE SHUDDER ISSUE

Well said EB-AU-BA. Ever considered a job in public speaking?. From memorie Turbo6man your T3 or TS has the exact same problem as all our Turbos. How many Km was it when you had them machined and how many Km do you think you will get out of it before they have to be redone.I wonder if the T has the discs carried over from your car. I dont consider I thrash my car and I bet you do not as well but it is a problem that exist in a lot of cars that machineing will cover it up for a little time but you will be back,You and me. Discussing this exact point in a Expensive Daewoo dealer of all places today they are aware of the problem,Even the new VX has it but not as bad as the VT when they first bought them out.Expensive Daewoo were doing exactly the same as Ford are doing now,Machine the discs and send them on there way but see again you again in 3-5000km-Have a nice day. They said today that Expensive Daewoo bought finally bite the bullit by bring out a new compound brake pad to use after the machine job was done and no more problems,I should say not as many problems.Only took until the series 2 VT was realised but. Maybe it is the compound of the brake material as they are a very hard compound pad.Imagine the upgrade,Yes my brakes dont shudder anymore after the pad change but fades after 1 good stop.Cant wait.
