    BRAKE SHUDDER ISSUE

As I have said before replace the ford pads with QFM type pads. Ian No Ian, they don't want to spend $50 for an end to this pain. They just want to rant & rave at no one in particular. Scotty Scotty. I think you need to look at both sides of the debate mate.I think it is fantastic that Ian has had some success in fitting these aftermarket pads plus rotors but in my own situation it proved to be totally useless and only lasted 13000km.I might have seen the problem arise alot sooner as the loads I tow with my ute but pad compounds did not make any of this delimma go away,I should say in the short turn it did but came back after kms prevoius stated. Everyone is unique on there driving styles and car usage,The way I am useing the ute all mods done before failed,Slotted and C/D plus 3 different compounds. Then again I tow heaps of loads and hit my favourite corner every night anywhere between 100-180km depending on driving conditions[Not that this is recommended to anyone]and have to pull up quite quickly. In the end I had no option but to upgrade to the premium fronts as dont really have the patience to put up with the problem coming back all the time. The beauty of this discussion everyone is getting much needed insight of what everybody is doing to cure or fix this thing,We all the end have to right to decide whatever we so desire to do.Fix it properly or draw the hole thing out another 10000km.No factory fix will happen from past exprience.

Sash. You can have my old crossed drilled and slotted rotors for $120,You will be required to get them machined to match your hub to get rid of the runout..They are 13000km old. I really do think your just prolonging a slow and painfull process staying with the same size little excuse for brakes.

They are the GT set up mate used in the V8s.Not the brembo as to expensive.I got the rotors from a spare parts shop as ford wanted about $650 a rotor.Get the part number from the DBA website and get to no someone from a ford spare parts outlet so you dont get ripped off.You have to order the new brake lines to suit as well.I am only doing the front and dont have to change master cylinder etc.Get to it mate. PM me if you want some contact details overhere in Sydney as my mate works in a ford service devision.

    BRAKE SHUDDER ISSUE

I have had the DBA crossed drilled rotors now for 15000km and back to same same starting point of shuddering.I have tried 3 different pad compounds to no avail plus the rubbish upgrade spring clip mod by the dealer.I do alot of kms plus towing heavy loads maybe twice a month and have had enough. Ordered new GT calipers plus rotors from a spare parts shop as ford were just way over priced and hopefully will fit all parts next week. For my type of driving conditions and load pulling the upgrades to the standard brakes were bascilly a waste of money and could assume everyone here commenting on this issue will eventually be back in the same boat regardless of disc or pad used.Bascilly the standard brakes are to small for this application of vehicle generating way to much heat. So if any body wants to buy a set of crossed drilled and slotted rotors plus calipers that will have to be machined to your hub by the way PM me and maybe a suitable price could be arranged.
  8. I believe that freshly shaved scr*tum of a Ford engineer can induce IMMEDIATE results. The threat of the above produces INSTANTANEOUS results Now we are getting somewhere.Good suggestions with the chickens and technicians might just break the evil spirit.
  9. I have to laugh at at these remedies that have been suggested and why do everytime we have to go to the DEVILS workshop [Dealer]you have to come out with another problem and then be informed to do marvellous tricks to cure your hassle. What gives?. The spells and curses we have been subjected to are all to much.Is there a cure out there?. Surely there is someone out there who can rid these evil spirits.
  10. The dealer up the road used to fit XR fronts to get rid of the old excess stock from the AU series.Made the wagon look acceptable.I would assume they are probley doing the same thing to the BA. Ford really need to update there wagon soon as in my opinion they look bl--dy dreadfull. The rear is all out of proportion and sits to high plus still riding on leaf springs. You are right concerning there is a market for a T wagon that is lowered with the front end and 18s.

    BRAKE SHUDDER ISSUE

Henry. I was looking at the expoded picture of the premium set up yesterday and the master cylinder is the same. The price of the ford disc is rediculous so diffently look at the DBA one listed on there website plus you can get aftermarket premuim pads that will reduce the cost as well. From looking at the diagram they are a simple bolt in Caliper useing existing points. I contacted PBR yesterday regarding the new coloured calipers they have just bought out but the same size so waste of time. They explained they are developing a upgraded caliper plus disc for the BA for release next year which sounds good. I would think the premium ford front only upgrade would cost around 1-1.5K depending on who you no and where you buy.

    BRAKE SHUDDER ISSUE

FORDTECH. Are you suggesting you no what is the cause of this?.Please enlighten us all. The beauty of this discussion is everybody has or is getting different mods to remedy a fault as the dealers seem to be abit in the dark.We have all been back several times for the machine job plus another couple of guys have just had new clips fitted with a suss brake take up point so I would not really call this a fix.Rotors have even been replaced only to have the problem come back.Do you have a conclusion or fix that maybe is new that will fix this?.Any constructive feedback would be most welcome.

    BRAKE SHUDDER ISSUE

AXW01. Thanks for that info mate.So the new clip has been designed to keep the pads away from the disc but making the first brake application lower.Very interesting.Way to much heat been generated from our brakes under braking so I would say this fix will last maybe 5-10000km if your lucky.Back to square one again. The new slotted and crossed drilled rotor plus new pads of different 2 compounds has not worked,I should say it did for 9-10000km but back again so same problem.Thought the cross drilled rotors would of cooled things down consideraby but maybe not.Another point to put into prospective though as I tow quite heavy loads so maybe that's why I am seeing early than other people. 56Mainline. I would like to offer you a warm welcome in joining all of us to the shudder club. Jimmyboy. Keep on posting mate regarding your good news as the door is always open to the club.I am sure you will be joining us soon.

    BRAKE SHUDDER ISSUE

Which Ford fix did you get mate?.The pad springs and another machine or what Rob commented on the other day about getting everything torqued to align everything. Wonder if they have bought out a anti-rattle clip to keep the pads faraway from the disc to stop the disc overheating?.This may explain the lower than normal pedal take up pont on braking maybe.I dont think I would be happy getting or trying this mod.I will watch in interest your comments and thoughts over the next couple of days or weeks. I wonder in the depths of Ford engineering they no what the problem actually is but have been instructed to find a cheap fix to avoid huge warranty claims. The plot is thickening.

    BRAKE SHUDDER ISSUE

I assume if Ford are going to replace the calipers, that us existing owners will not be offer them as well They better be making s--t loads of these new calipers mate as you and I and everybody with a current T or standard Falcon will have there hands up for the warranty job. Steve. Do you have any insight into this at all?.You must at some stage be wondering yourself what is going to happen to rectify this problem with Ford of course trying to minimise the cost to themselves.Your discs are surely not the problem as I have found out myself.Regarding the caliper design do you think having the duel pistons on 1 side is abit old hat design.I am on the thinking that a 4 piston caliper working from both sides surely would be a better design but this is your job and your the man so thoughts or comments please.

    BRAKE SHUDDER ISSUE

AL. No fix yet mate as to be quite honust dont no what to do now.I dont think different compound pads are going to help me much.I will see what happens when a few guys have put a few more km on there cars with the mods like mine then make a decision.I am sort of getting used to the problem now sorry to say.

    BRAKE SHUDDER ISSUE

The discs are a factor in the problem mate but not as much as I or anyone has suggested.Braking is heaps better with the crossed drilled and slotted but has not cured my problem and would suggest maybe anyones else with this same hassle.I just do heaps of city km plus highway stuff and may of seen it return quicker than other people. This is still the best car or ute I have owned for preformance and fuel ecomony and general all rounder and I am sure in the future there will be a reason for all this drama. With all the people contributing to this subject on there exprience it is only a matter of time to find the major underlining problem.

    BRAKE SHUDDER ISSUE

AL. I have had the DBA slotted and crossed drilled rotors on now for a very pleasent 10000km until last month and the shudder is back.I do tow quite heavy loads maybe twice a month and dont consider I give my ute a hard time with the brakes. I was luckie enough to have the opportunity to speak to one of the DBA guys at a recent trade show in which he suggested there was many possible reasons rangeing from the torsional strengh of the front cross member not good enough causeing flex to pad material but I have tried 2 different compounds but to no avail.I really cannot understand how my last XR8 series 2 had no such hassle plus 70000 pad life. I really do not want to start again having to machine my new rotors as thought this was the ultimate fix.I can see it happening evry 8-10000km which is where I started from. I think the there is a major stuff up somewhere in the front end design or just to small brakes fitted generating to much heat but thought the crossed drilled would of cured this.Dont no what is going to happen now as it is getting abit boring the same old thing happening.
  21. Hey mate. I ticked every little option box but made a fatal mistake not picking the good brake package.I never really liked Fords attempt at leather but seemed to have done a good job with the BA. I dont know were you are from but while my car was being serviced this morning,ELN Ford at the central coast has got a new T ute sitting in the lot ready for someone to go and just buy and enjoy.Might be worth a ring. Dean is the man you want to talk to.He owns the place.
  22. Get onto the Ford Website mate and build yourself a ute with prices attached as options ticked. You will find they can vary so much depending on options from say $42000-52000. What ever you do get the big brake package fitted as standard You will be getting up to $46000 with the options you want.I got the Leather as well which I quite like.Dont forget you have all the bullsh*t on road costs plus dealer delivery and stampduty which adds up.
  23. Had my water leak fixed 1 month ago,Now leaking again from the same place. So time consuming taking back to the dealer.Think it can wait for my 30000km service to get it done again.
  24. Martin. Please post if time when you have sorted out the rear end. There has got to be a way to stop the the diff moving moving around under load.I am considering the use of a panhard rod fitted on the left hand side like Ford used to fit to there 351 ex chaser cars.My opinion this would fix all movement.
  25. Yep,I am going to to the bushes mate as per what you have done as I can see this is only going to happen again. You commented that your diff was moving around as well,I assume this was totally eliminated with the new bushes?. I did not want to change the nice ride of the rear end so will not be adding extra leaf springs,Although I saw a interesting devise at a recent trade show that bolts onto the underneath of the springs and tightens up only under extrme load which I thought was a good idea.Keep the same ride but gets tighter the more load you put on it.
