yeah true, but I thought we came to the conclusion that the pistons were forged. the injectors should be fine for 12 psi, the rods should be ok (they would be strengthened for this appliction, ford wouldn't just fit standard ones) and the gearbox should be ok too....when ford and other ppl who have heard from ford say that the 'box can't handle much more power/torque they mean having the living sh*te thrashed out of them for 300,000km before it starts to give trouble, that also goes for the rest of the car (btw I am refering to the manual 'box, I don't think the auto will cope that well at all, I think out of the manuals and autos the autos will be the first to bang when we start moding these cars)......so for those of us who change our cars over every 3 year and don't rack up more then 60,000km it's irrelavent. besides 12 psi is pretty conservative. Dave.

yeah here, here!!!! what is happening with that torquechip guy?? he reckon he could make a chip that would up the boost and and also make it removable and untracable for servicing.... even the chip cost $1000 it would be fully worth it!!! imagine running 12 psi with a pipe and filter, you'd be making like 250rwkw and running 12s!!!! Dave.

Ba Sound System Upgrade
I got some plans somewhere at home for a duel bandpass box with 2 6inch woofers in it, now with a 100 watt (max. the amp in the BAs is 150 watt max) it would out perform a pair of 10s in a pair of ported boxes. I'll try and find them.. Dave.

Which Colour
yeah well I think your all right, Blueprint is the way to go.....there is a Narooma XR6 with 18s at the Croydon dealership and it does look very nice, but it's a little too plane.....it was actually pretty ace they had the Narooma XR6, the Blueprint XR6 and a Phantom XR8 all with 18s all next to each other so I could get a perfect comparison..... Dave. p.s what the big turn off about Narooma??

Baii
hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone can tell me when the BAII is coming out?? I've heard late next year but then some have said late THIS year.....this will decide on when I purchase ie. now if it's late next year or I'll wait for BAII if it's late THIS year... Thanx, Dave.

Which Colour
to be honest I wanted a dark colour, like a REALLY dark green (congo green isn't dark enough) or a dark blue but Pearl blue isn't avaliable in the XRs.....I put a sunroof in a Blueprint XR the other week and I loved the way it sparkled in the sun, but once again it's not a dark colour.....Narooma blue was the darkest colour I could get outside black (WAY too boring) but it doesn't really have a the sparkle of Blueprint.....then there's Phantom, ace colour, looks black in some lights but not quite, BUT it's purple..... one question though, I love the colour of the XR8 in lastest Motor but I can't decide if it's Narooma blue or Phantom, the dealer said it's Narooma, but the article is called "Purple Haze" (which would suggested it's Phantom) so if anyone could help that would be good. Thanx, Dave.

Manual V Auto
Used it, thought about it, and still prefer the manual Honestly, I might consider it if it wasn't $950 extra. I would rarely have the car in drive so why pay the extra? yeah I agree, I'm not going to pay almost a grand to go slower.....and sorry but the auto is slower, I don't care what any of you say, when mines delivered I'll drag any of the autos on this forum and I guarantee I will win... also the auto in the Ba is a bit different to the au, it has a slighty lower 1st gear - BA = 2.50, AU = 2.39 (crap all difference).... it's simple, you're either an auto man or manual man.....and neither with be convinced otherwise Dave.
-
Herrod Mods
yeah I have a pretty good feeling I read that somewhere too, that the BA turbo has forged pistons....I think for a large company car the cost difference for forged and standard isn't that great so would probabily go with forged, I mean ford would want this engine to last for at least 300,000km...... Dave.

Auto Performance.
yeah well I do like drags, but I love trackdays and driving through hours of winding roads.... so manual it is.... thanx guys for your help... Dave.
-
Premium Brakes?
yeah I know you can never have too much braking power but at a cost of 3350 dollars (including extra rim) that's alot of extra money!!! Dave.
-
Premium Brakes?
I was going to get the 18s anyway, but I was have to get the spare 18 as well.....hmmmmm well if you guys with the stadard brakes can agree that you have had no problem with fade and are quite happy with them then I can't warrent spending 3000 dollars on brakes that I would probabily would never use.... Dave.

Sad But True
You wanna take a good look at the new XR8's that are being delivered. some have had 100+ kms on the clock?!?! Not good!! yeah well we just a pair a of NA XR6s in on wednesday for 'roofs and they had only 12 and 17km on the clock....(they were both truck to and from the workshop)....where as the 2 Turbos we've had in have had at least 30km on the clock and one of them we had to pick up and deliver from Lilydale (to hawthorn)..... btw we couldn't fang it though the boss was following in his VX (would have only taken about half throttle to loose him!!! bahahahaha) Dave.
-
Premium Brakes?
yeah I think your right.....I was going to skimp on other things like alarm, tint, mud spats, etc to get thems...... I think I've got like 8 or 9 grands of options now, NOT including the brakes.... Dave.
-
Auto Performance.
so what do you have "turbo6man"?? auto or manual?? and of course why?? Dave. p.s congrads on 100 posts!!
-
Premium Brakes?
hey guys, I'm in the final stages of ordering my T and was considering the premium brake package.....the option list is getting quite expensive so I was wondering everyones thoughts on them and the standard brake package. I know a few of you have had problems with the standard brakes fading in driving with prolonged, repeated heavy braking and even some of you have had warped discs at 5000km...so anyway the question is wheather the Premium brakes are worth the extra 3000 dolllars?? or will the standard brake package do almost as well?? thanx, Dave.

Auto Performance.
I don't get how the auto could be faster! I mean the auto has a much higher first gear.....thus making it sluggish off the line... Dave.
-
Manual V Auto
also one other thing, the first gear ratios are as follows: Auto: 13.6 km/h/1000rpm = 74.8km/h@5500rpm Manual: 11.6 km/h/1000rpm = 63.8km/h@5500rpm Dave.
-
Manual V Auto
well I've had both an auto EF and a manual (the manual has a brass button clutch). the manual has a sh*te load more pick-up off the line and in gear surge, so if that's anything to go by the manual the T should be at least 0.5 - 1.0 seconds faster to 100..... that's my 2 c..... Dave.

Xr6t Diff
Yep, l think its pretty pathetic in a 50K car. The car is great in every other area, it is really disappointing they didnt spend the money to sort this. Cant imagine how much slop will be in the driveline after 50000km. l hope Ford release a fix for it. I think he means 50,000 dollars not kms Dave.

Auto Performance.
hey guys, as it's easy to get the most out of an auto's acceleration times (stall up the torque converter and floor it) would anyone who has an auto T do some 0-100 times (try to do an each way average).... this would be a GREAT help....I'm very into manuals and have a manual Falcon now but I also do mainly city driving and it can become a real pain in peak-hour traffic....so if the auto is close enough I'll have to rethink the manual.... Thanx, Dave.

Oil & Filter Change At 3000km Service.
well I'd be getting the oil changed at 3000km and changing to top quality synthetic oil (if it's not already used) then I would be changing it again at 10000km and then every 5000km after that (I'd do it at home and get ford can stick to their service schedule, so the books look normal), I believe for piece of mind it's worth... Dave.

Options
that's what ford call the discount for ford employes.... (I'm not a ford emloyee, my step-sister is) and she ahs to sign some form/letter and sent it to me, with which present to the dealer Dave.
