Todays Petrol Price In Sydney $1.43l
Surprise, surprise in the ACT the price of fuel jumped by 20cents/litre at about 1000 on the Friday morning of the Canberra Day long weekend - tell me that's not opportunistic. Not one of theose servos had been replensihed during the preceeding two hours from any depot either. However, that's not quite as opportunistic as the marketeers that seem able to convince thousands of 'health poseurs' to pay in the order of $2/litre for bottled water. Dingah

Tuner's Opinions On Ethanol Blend Fuels?
Any tuners out there as the thread asked? Fact preferred over opinion on this one. Dingah

Tyres
Like Cros I run Michelin Pilot Precedas and they are best wet/dry/low noise tyre I have ever had the good fortune to encounter. I did not bother bargaining or shopping around and they were $270 a corner. Dingah

Transmission Cooler?
Yes fit a cooler. See DTS in Fyshwick who supplied and fitted mine which is a large Davies Craig cooler. Cost about $500 fitted as I recall. Dingah

Standard Tunes
Transmission behaviour is far too much of a personal issue to be able to set generic tunes that will please you all. Further, the nature of the adjustments required in the software depends on the mod state of your gearbox - none, valve body non-adjustable solenoids, valve body adjustable solenoids etc etc and they will all behave differently. Some folk seem happy to live with a 1-2 change similar to being struck in the back by a piece of 4 by 2. I do not and neither does the rest of my drivetrain. Thanks to the patience of of Dave and Simon at Nizpro, after half a dozen attempts at tinkering with the Editable elements of the software that can effect shift quality, the programs in my Edit box are now to my liking with firm, fast and no flare shifts in all gears, even under the hardest acceleration but without compromising the smoothness of shift quality excessively in the rest of the range, particularly the tricky 1-2 shift under light throttle. This took a bit of mailing to and fro and patient testing but was achievable but only on a one - to - one basis requiring a custom tune and able tuner. Dingah

Upgraded Auto!
Glad it all turned out ok for you; Pretty darned expensive driving style you have there Danno! With the brakes either go the BCR's PBR Premo kit or DBA 4000 slotted and RB74 pads = either one prodices a huge improvement. However. there is always the awesome set of rotors and callipers that Mick has fitted, least they would fill up the insides of your wheels more effectively. Dingah

Bent Rods..
A proper handbrake adjustment on the BA is certanly not a 5 minute job, but understand your frustration with the other reliability/warranty issues. Hope this all turns out positive in the longer term for you. Dingah

When Will They Get It Right?
Can you actually lose traction with your tune Graham??!! Seriously though, even with the high power settings currently used in mine, the TC works exactly as advertised. Dingah

Footwell Lights
Have fitted bootlid carpet - 2 minute job, dead easy - you might want to pm ms700 about a fairmont roof lining next - he's an 'experienced' user in that mod. The BF firewall sound deadining might be a bit more of a challenge though......... Dingah

Went To Wsid,not Happy!
Without punctuation it is difficult to know exactly what it is you're trying to say in your post. However that piece I highlighted is quite clearly stated and seems to be directed at something I posted. (I don't think anyone else raised the point). It was not "advice" - it was a clear and accurate statement of fact. Oxygen DOES NOT burn. There it is again for you - please read it slowly and let it sink in because it IS an indisputable FACT - NOT my "opinion" or "advice". I think I agree with the gist of everything else you posted (if my interpretation of your post is correct). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> okay - I will a little (light heartedly) Just for the record - pure hydrogen DOES NOT burn either - needs something like oxygen to react with... That is a fact! One could argue that the most common element to be combined with others in most combustion we normally would use is oxygen - so one could argue that it does in fact 'burn' although it is not the energy source, just the element reducing it... Anyway - hope you don't mind a little stir... Ben. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> A little stir is all good fun Ben but sometimes facts are just facts. FACT - Oxygen DOES NOT burn. I don't care what spin you put on it the fact remains. Oxygen is as you say the medium which allows the chemical change (burning) to take place. The exact same number of oxygen molecules pass out the exhaust as which enter the combustion chamber. It's just the composition that changes. FACT - Hydrogen DOES burn. Have you looked at the sun lately. Well I hope not actually, but you get what I mean? The sun is simply exploding hydrogen gas - exploding because it is above the ignition point of hydrogen which is something like 550 degrees C Sorry to boor everyone with basic scientific facts but some knowledge of these things goes a little way to understanding the output of our engines and what influences may effect that production of power. It was mentioned a couple of times that high humidity causes a drop off in power and results in slower SS400 times. I am simply trying to understand how this is so - I'm not saying it isn't, but questioning the thought processes and waiting for someone to give me a better understanding based on physical evidence as to why it is so. My knowledge and experience goes back to classroom physics only and I have little drag racing experience or knowledge to help me get my head around it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> .....crikey - don't tell me you really believe this stuff do you?...given the opportunity I'll get you down to our research labs in Melbourne for a reality check. Dingah

Went To Wsid,not Happy!
Totally agree with Dr Z and drop the humuduty idea it's an absolute red-herring. No humidity would not have a discenable imact on the performance of your engine and advice like oxygen doesn't burn and humidity has a greater impact on the turbo's performance than intake air temperature and quite wrong. A trip to you know who in Melbourne will get you on the right track and put a smile back on your dial. Dingah

Whining Noise
Agree with Jordak - the dealer elected to have mine replaced after about 20000km and so far so good in the diff-whine department - that said the ICC Aux-in has taken over the whining role now. Dingah

Cat, Ic, Clutch, Injectors, Fuel Pump
Yup those 'changes' cant come soon enough. THat's why I look for a set cost to tune eragrdless of the number of dyno pulls. Glen is fastidious so you can bey he will keep her on the dyno as long as it takes when tuning but he's not as keen when not actually doing tuning and just dyno driving as he feels he has no ownership of the results. It's hard to convince Pat to change his ways though, which is a shame as he loses so many customers that way. Hope it tunrs out well for you. Dingah

Cat, Ic, Clutch, Injectors, Fuel Pump
Good luck with it Jimmy - at least the $183 bought you a good dyno and an even better operator - shame his boss wont let him go down the Edit path...wasted talent. Not wishing to come across as a smart-arse but this is the reason why I preferred the costs and hassles with a custom tune where everyting is sorted there and then which removes the guess work and frustration versus at least 3 separate dyno pulls coming to near $500 and closr to the cost of a custom tune with as many dyno pulls as are needed to get the results. Typhoon Cai
I don't have any official figures or anything but I remember when JB, BlownBA and myself all did our 2ndCAI that we all thought there was an improvement in the cars performance. We did this in conjuction with a better filter and all thought the car "felt" quicker. Geea. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ...a sensation generally achieved as a result of one's wallet being somewhat lighter. Auto Transmission Oil Change
Rack-action - no problems with that and regular fluid/filter changes but I get DTS to do it! As Mick says not a job for the patient or feint-hearted and a hoist would be a no-brainer for this one. $160 sounds fair - you might choose to supply your fliuds and ensure the right stuff goes in though. Auto Transmission Oil Change
Concur with Mick, it's cheap insurance considering what the tranny goes through - along with a decent cooler as well. Drop the pan so each time you can also inspect certain of the internals and you'll need to factor in a new gasket as well each time. Currently using Castrol transmax Z. Dingah
