Dont know how many of you have been following my bent rods post about replacing engine and now turbo... But I have another issue regarding the brakes / brake shudder... That has left an even worse taste in my mouth...!!! After Jarvis having my car for the bent rods issue it was also due to be serviced... now firsly they have told me that the rotors are too thin and need replacement... I told them yes of course they are you idiots (ford) has machined them twice already... now they agreed and said they would be replaced under warranty... This is where the bullsh*t starts.. becasue they also told me that the brake pads only had 3mm left and I would have to replace them as well...I thought what the??? I was confused as I knew that they had replaced them before at the 75k service under warranty... and now only 15k later they needed replacing again!!!! This doesnt make sense to me??? how come the original ones lasted to 75 K atleast and now these will have to be replaced every 15K!!!! They are also $300.00 for the pair I have been told... although he did reduce it to $250.00 for me in the end... So what I can see is that ford have fixed the brake shudder problem by installing extremely expensive and soft brake pads are are going to make all of us pay for it!!!!! I am absolutely Pissed about this and I will be contacting cosumer affairs and taking it further...anyone else want to join me??? Has anyone else actually had a decent fix done by ford for this?? Anyone any comments help... I will never buy a freekin ford again for sure!!!!!

Just to let everyone know how my warranty claim is going they have now told me that the turbo was the cause of the problem as it had been over boosting... So therefore the turbo will be replaced as well... they reckon should all be fixed by tomorrow... so there ya go new motor new turbo.... hows that...!!! Anyone want to by a not so second hand XR6T?? want to sell it in the next couple of months... need something smaller now....

Um yeh it takes me 4 - 5 months to do 8000K's I drive from one end of Adelaide to the other easily twice a week sometimes... Am doing around 30,000 kms a year... so... do the math I guess... I hope they give me the new BF Motor 260Kw Wooo hooo..!!! Does anyone know how to tell the differnce between the engines???

Well heard from ford Yesterday they are going to replace.. the Engine with new one ... Thnak god.... They have also located and sorted a loan car for me from hertz... So I think they have done their job correctly and I cant knock them really... The dealer had to send photos of the bent rods and detials of service and computer stats to ford to finish the process once they did this ford got back to them with three hours... I have to take back some of the bad things I said now...

Thanks for all the input guys... lays my mind to rest for a little while anyway... Still waiting to here back from Jarvis... they diagnosed the problem Monday the 27th by midday so surely they should have an answer from Ford today sometime... I have rang ford and spoken to some whacker... he told me it may or may not be covered under warranty.... !!! BULLsh*t it wont... I have done nothing unusual with the car at all... They have always serviced it... although it was bit overdue for the last service... by 8000kays or something... Still wasnt low on oil or anything stupid though.... See how it goes I guess... will keep ringing them over and over.,!!! Can tell you with all the problems I have had with the car will never buy a FORD Again!!! Just a few problem I have had listed below... Broken Gear Selector (wouldnt go into Park) they replaced the whole assembly Driver side Elec window Broke Twice and was replaced Rear Right Actuator for lock broke (replaced) Rear Left Actuator for lock broke (Replaced) Drivers Side Door Actuator lock broke (Replaced) Bolt came out of exchaust manifold while driving (They replaced it was not covered by warranty))!!! Had to pay $80.00!!!! The stupid Hand Brake Problem had to always pay for re-adjustment... $80.00 each time..!!! Brake shudder only fixed at 60 K service... finally!!! I reckon the car has had a warranty item fixed every Service and some.... I totally understand why people dont buy Australian Cars they are CRAP!!!! I have a few friends with Holdens Similar Problems which sounds right.. they all use same parts anyway!!! Never Buy a FORD.... There service sux and there cars are even worse... Not to mention the Huge Depreciation all their cars have... mines worth less than half now..!!! Paid 52K now I am lucky to get 22K ... GEEZ!!! that's bad!!! Sorry if I sound angry but I am sure you will all understand!!!!

Why do you think it wont be an easy warranty claim...?? Surely a problem of that nature indicates parts failure... The service guys did tell me that they have had to repair one other XR6T and have heard of a few others needing to be done... they were all under warranty no probs... I really think they should replace the engine though....

No Mods whatsoever to the Car.... It is a company Car and I know mods would void warranty... Yes have had it since new I do alot of kays becasue iam an IT Consultant and always at clients sites all over adelaide.. Very Little country driving mainly City Driving.... It was backfiring badly before the problems as well...But I guess that was fuel... Although I have only ever put BP Ultimate in it... Have had a similar problem ages ago with bad fuel where it would backfire... I dont know if that is related to the bent Rods though... wouldnt think so...

Cant Believe it XR6 T has 89000 kays on it still a couple of months of warranty Was driving last friday pulled into maccas was in the drive through with a magna in front of me... could here a weird rattle / Knock and I thought geez noisey bloody...Magna that one...!!! Then I realised that it was my car.... geeez!!!! Took the beast to Jarvis took them a day to figure out it was bent rods... Bent rods on cylinder 2 and 5.... I cant believe it... Anyone else had or heard of this problem!???? Jarvis told me they have contaced Ford and are awaiting a response as to wether they will repair or replace the engine..... YIKES.... I think for that kind of failure they should replace the engine actually... They have not even told me how long I will be without a car.... being a company vehicle... this really screws me around!! They also have no loan cars and if they did they wanted to charge me $50.00 a day to have one... Surely FORD should be able to pull some strings and get me a loan Car... Anyone have any words of wisdom for me?????

Hey guys need help.. was drving home from work.. was at the lights and the T felt like she was gonna stop and she did..... I tried to start her to no avail..!! just kept stalling and spluttering backfiring... what tha!!! Eventually got it started limped down the road and am waiting for roadside assistance... so glad I had my grps internet card with me had somehting to do in the mean time look at this forum.. and ponder if I ever buy a f######## ford again!!!!!! Help me......

Just wondering if anyone has had this problem the central locking on my T is not working will lock all the doors but the drivers side door..???? Just makes a stupid clicking sound and doesnt lock... I can lock it manually with the key lock and also with the button.. ( on the door that is) not the center consol...??? Sounds like the motor is buggered on the drivers side door I suppose... Also anyone know of a good reliable dealer in adelaide... I have been using jarvis at hillcrest but some times they are bloody hard to get a hold of...!!! I tried Jarvis Norwood and they are a bunch of D---S ......!!!!

Just thought I would pass this by everyone and see what responses I got... I recently had a puncture and had to replace one of my dunlops.... After talking to the guy at Bob Jane's he told me all my tyre pressures were very low...31psi... He said that the recommended pressure is acutlly 38psi and any lower than that and I would get bad tyre ware..... I think hes right as well becsause after inspecting the tyres they are worn more on the edges than the rest.... Is this a trick the car dealers play to make you come back for tyres more often...???? I bet.... On the inside of the car door it also says 31psi.... maybe fords have shares in dunlop or something.... BTY... after increasing tyre pressures my car seems to handle just as wel if not better and is a bit lighter on the steering... My tyres are the standard dunlops on the 17" rims... SP3000 ...

Was driving my T yesterday when I rounded a corner and driver over a piece of steel rod on the road.... ***K I didnt even see it so couldnt swerve or anything.. To make matters worse it got lodged in my front right tyre and I could hear it hitting the car as the tyre turned... Couldnt slow down straight away as thier were cars behind me.. As I slowed I heard another bang..... so I stopped immediatly to get out and look at the damage.... Geeeezzz the steel rod had stuck into my tyre and then broke off flung into the door and put an almighty scratch to the metal in the passenger door...!!!!!!!!!!! I had to change the tyre of course as it went flat in about 2 mins..... So at this point I have one stuffed tyre and a bigh bloody scratch...!!! I take the tyre to Bob Janes and they tell me can be fixed for 22 bucks great.... Then when I went back was told the tyre could nto be repaired and had to buy a new one.... geeezz could my luck get any worse!!!!!! After all that iam gonna get the scratch fixed along with heaps of stone chips on the bonnet etc... was wondering if anyone knew firstly if the bonnec protectors work well or if their is a 3M product or some plastic coating that can be put the bonet etc...????? Any Ideas...... Sorry about the long post....
