    Problem with Link

The hyperlinks that you have posted are not complete, hence the "..." Have you tried searching for whatever it is you are after in any case? Trent.
  2. The utes skip around quite a bit more than the sedans - but it makes it all the more fun!!! At low speeds I don't think you would notice much of a difference, but when the go pedal is getting a workout you have to be on the ball. It doesn't take much for one of these little babies to hang their tail out around corners. Trent.
  3. OK, own up, who told Scotty how many emoticons I used???
  4. Sixfan, are you free tonight. I've got a feeling that ktford will be standing me up again. He gets a bit sooky from time to time.
  5.
  6. Your short TAB, go a look for "da plane boss." Scotty Pass it to me when you've finished your toke Scotty!
  7. That was the plan wasn't it?
  8. Sorry, the floor mats was meant as a tongue-in-cheek look at the whole picture. Don't get me wrong, I think in some ways it is a good thing that insurance companies are absolute pricks when it comes time for a payout - could you imagine what premiums would be like if they payed out everything without question. Comprehensive car insurance would then be like the dreaded public liability insurance debacle, we would be buying our policies from South Africa! (another tongue-in-cheek comment) But Geeseman I do entirely agree with your point on the engineers certificate tripe, unless you are a citizen of high moral standing and always perform every action in life with the wellbeing of the environment in mind, then it is essentially nothing but a marketing ploy. Yes adhering to ADR’s are important but you could bet your bottom dollar that the scalies would still find something wrong if they wanted to. As a side issue, are these “engineers certificates” independently audited in someway, or is it a case of the more you pay for them the better the result? Trent.
  9. Not according to my insurer. They couldn't give a rats arse if my car has a certificate or not. Didnt ask for one and didnt want to see one when I offered. I even have written confirmation of the insurance. I'll go so far to say that I think the whole hubbub about certificates has been a ploy to get people to prefer one mod camp over another. But is it? They may give you approval in writing but dont they always hide behind a statement along the lines of your car must be roadworthy and meet ADR's? If you havent got an engineers cert despite what the insurance companies gives you in writing, isnt that their out should they want to use it? As far as insurance is concerned they don't give a rat's buttocks about what is actually installed on your vehicle and they will give you all the relevant policy documents and take your premium payments without hesitation. Hell, you don't even have to prove ownership of the vehicle to be covered, as far as their level of involvement at the initiation of a new policy is concerned the vehicle may not even exist. BUT... Come claim time is when everything matters: "Sorry sir, but you don't have a tow bar listed on your policy" "WTF has that got to do with claiming damage from hitting a kangaroo?" "Your policy is only valid if all the policy requirements are met, which includes advising us of any modification or additions to your vehicle" So now, I'm even tempted to call them to advise of a change of floor mats. Documentation or not, it's not worth a pinch of sh*t when it comes to the fine print when the money has to come back out of the insurer's pockets. Trent.
  10. *** Possible stupid question approaching *** Doesn't the exhaust system on the T have no/minimal back pressure - due to the "T" bit? Trent.

    My Latest Mod

Congrats Pedro, good to here that bub & mum are all well. Trent.
  13. Spot on! I actually had my mate convinced the auto was five speed due to the lockup, until he publicly made a fool of himself because of me! (Who needs enemies with friends like me) Trent.
  14. What this refers to is when both sides of the torque convertor are spinning at the same rpm. It is in effect the same as a direct drive between the engine and the gear box, hence why autos have almost the same fuel economy at highway speeds as the manuals. When this engages or disengages it feels like another gear change, and will only occur above a certain speed and with a relatively constant throttle position. Trent.
  15. I'm sure you would be too. But I wonder if the replacement pipes were made a bigger diameter it would be better agian? I'm getting mine done hopefully on tuesday and I will suss it out with the exhaust shop guy before it gets done. You have to take into consideration the inside smoothness (for lack of better word) of the pipe as well. In terms of air flow, using a very crude comparison you would be better off with a 1" pipe that is mandrel bent rather than a 2" pipe with a sharp 90 degree bend. You could argue until the cows come home on whether or not the larger pipe will compensate for the absence of a mandrel bend - but you would think so given that we are only talking minor changes in direction of air flow. Trent.
  16. No really, a big thanks to Wayne, Ian & Goose - top job guys!
  17. Start making people aware that they are accountable for their actions and what the possible outcomes are if you drive like an idiot. Although it still doesn’t make it acceptable I can understand what peer pressure and inexperience will do to a young driver and they will not always be responsible behind the wheel. Can someone please enlighten me though, what is necessitating this radical proposed curfew, and what’s going to stop the same thing from happening outside of the curfew hours or as soon as these drivers come of age and the restrictions no longer apply? Fortunately I grew up on a cattle property and we had to drive from a very early age so I can say that I went through the silly phase before I could even get my license and drive on public roads. But when I fall into the trap of having kids, I can guarantee they will not be getting behind the wheel before completing a defensive driving course or similar – either through an accredited centre or through the same heavy handed teaching that I received from my parents. But for christ’s sake don’t introduce another piece of baseless legislation and tie up the precious and already stretched resources of our law enforcement agencies. Trent.
  18. I hate washing cars (sorry, had to get that off my chest) See you all tomorrow Trent.
  19. I'm about 6'3" or something - but quite frankly I'm not sure what the atraction with being tall is - it's a real pain in the.........head. Everywhere you go you're banging your head on something, I can't stand up straight in our freezer at work, have to travel business class so that you can sit down without wrapping your knees around your ears, hard to find shoes that fit, can't sleep in a standard size single bed, you can see the dust on top of everyone's fridges, and the worst point is when it rains you are always the first to get wet. Trent.
  20. This “phenomenon” is really quite frightening when you think about it. I have lost count of the number of times that I have been in the same situation, both on suburban roads and highways/freeways. All I can say is thank f*ck for the ABS and touch wood I have been fortunate enough to come out unscathed. It makes you wonder though how the culprits involved in these incidents managed to get a license. Even though I think the mirrors in the BA’s a pretty good and negate any blind spots I still always turn my head to check if there is anything in the lane where I actually want to be. Obviously not everyone got the same driver training as me – father in the passenger seat clipping me around the ear every time I didn’t look or did something incorrect! I can still hear his voice ringing in my head. It’s good to hear that you are all OK though, but the inconvenience of repairs (or waiting for another car in Cro’s case) still would still leave quite a bitter taste in your mouth. Trent.

    Sports Leather Seats

I have never driven (or been a passenger in) a car with the sports leather so I don't have much to compare to other than the standard fabric. I must say though that I don’t find the full leather seats that slippery unless you have just whacked a coat of leather protectant on them, and even then it's not like you are sliding on to the floor when braking or anything. Given that all the XR seats are molded I suppose this would help a bit as well, it’s not like we are talking a flat bench seat here. Aesthetically I wouldn’t go with the sports leather but it’s up to you I suppose given that it’s your car and all! Trent.
  22. Should catch up for a bit of this! Anyone else work in or near the city - maybe catch up for a few ales after work or something. Trent.

    WRX vs Truck

I'm no accident investigation guru, but something doesn't add up with this story. - if the truck was stationery there would be alot more damage than that, and one corpse - how can the gauges remain where they are? Being electronic then they would all fall to zero when power is lost - unless there is a feature that freezes them in their current state, and what would you hook this up to if this is the case - probably the air bag sensor! - if insurance was an issue then obviously money is tight, but how many banks will give you a loan without siting a certificate of currency? OK, I'm just being a pesimistic *beep* and probably had a few too many, but WTF???

    Sports Leather Seats

Cro For your next car's Christening, I think we should all pitch together and buy you one of those nice seat covers that the Indian taxi drivers all have... those things made of the strung togther balls.... Not forgetting the all important woolen seat belt shoulder pad thing (WTF are those things called anyway?) Trent.

    Sports Leather Seats

I'd say that is a massive advantage, was looking at getting them cause of sliding around the seat in my old car. Decided against it on the new car though cause I don't like the look of them Would that be the bubble wrap look?
