Why Just Ems?
Correct me if I am wrong, but from what I know(which isn't much) both the Exede and the TSI are piggy back type units. The thought of spending 7k on a computer alone is ridiculous unless it does my dishes as well. I was thinking along the lines of Haltech,Wolf,Microtech etc. All in the similar price range as the EMS. Technically speaking would they do the same job as the EMS or does the EMS have something special about the way it controlls fuel and spark etc. Peter

Why Just Ems?
There is a lot of talk about the EMS and the results that can be acheived by using it. My question is: Can another stand alone ecu be used cause there are plenty that on paper appear to have the same features if not more than the EMS. I am considering purchasing this type of tuning aid even though for most people the edit would be the first choice. The way I look at it is that I am only keeping the car short term and when it comes time to sell I have the advantage of removing the ecu and using it on my next car what ever it may be. Any advice for and against would be appreciated to help me decide. Peter

Ems Results
My old 2ltr skyline ran consistent 107 to 109mph, but the best time I could manage was 13.7. What's even more confusing is that it had only 180rwkw. There seems to be no set formula for drag racing apart from having fun . As was posted earlier there are too many variables. Peter

T Problems
It all started the day I picked her up from the dealer.Go to drive out and the rear end started to shutter badly.Told by service dept they will investigate further at 3000km complimentary inspection. To this day I wish I had not handed over the cheque that day. On the way home I go to open the sunroof and it doesn't work. I pull up at the lights and the breaks squealled badly. My problems are never ending and so are the bullsh*t excuses I get from Ford. List as follows: * Shuttering rear end, 2 diffs already replaced *Slipping clutch and hot spots on flywheel,Clutch replaced *Surgeing power, boost sensor changed twice *Replaced 2 throttle bodies already *oil leak from diff *Coolant leak from water pump *Oil consumption,2 litres used prior to 15k service *Clutch slipping again after 15k service(apprentice had some fun) *Break pads replaced on premium brakes, Still squealling *Centre console lid faulty, replaced *Rust on inside of door, Minor *Clunking noise coming from under rear end on light load cruising *Pipe from turbo fell off causing no power *power steering noise/vibration, changed hose but still makes noise All this from a car with 16k on the clock which cost me 57k. No I am not happy.

Clutches
My clutch was stuffed before I drove away from the dealer the day I picked the car up brand new. Pre car obviously had some fun with it. 3000k's later the second clutch began to slip and I can tell you that my wife drives the car with 2 babies in the back,so driving style has nothing to do with it. I told Ford about it and somehow they can't get the clutch to slip when their mechanics drive it , so no new clutch for me.

Stock Turbo
I was hoping that someone on the forum can confirm if this is a genuine factory turbo as it is for sale on one of the skyline sites for $2100.Is that what these things are worth? Peter

Premium Brake Squeal
I had these new pads fitted today and I can honestly say that FORD finally got something right, not even the slightest bit of squeal so far. Also in my opinion they don't feel any different to the old ones in respect to stopping power, but who cares if they don't squeal. I haven't noticed any additional dust but it's still early days. 0.9mm Sparkplug gap results
My question is a bit off the topic. I noticed on the first pic your radio display panel shows temperature and range etc. I have the premium sound and have never seen that display on my car. Can you please explain? By the way I love the gauge. Thanks, Peter

not going no where
Exact same thing happened to me just after a new clutch was fitted at 3000k by ford.I took off uphill with about 1500rpm and progressively applying the gas and she slipped, went nowhere. Funny how it has never happened again, I now have 8000k on the clock. Peter

Sick of brake squeal
I have done a search on this brake squeal issue with the premium brakes on the XR6T,but found nothing. Can anyone tell me if Ford have solved this problem with perhaps a new compound of pads. From what I have heard it is a common problem with the premium upgrade package. The dealer told me that it is caused by the brake dust, and if I wash the brakes with water regularly it would be the best option.I must have had moron on my forehead that day. Can someone please help? Cheers, Peter

Standard Rwkw, How Much?
I had a look at the dyno printout you provided Goose and in comparison to mine it's very smooth whereas my one goes up and down a lot.Does that indicate anything? Also the air fuel ratio was rather rich around 10.5. Peter

Standard Rwkw, How Much?
Thanks guys, As always some logical responses to my question.Taking everything into account such as temp, dyno etc it seems that I have a good solid engine with average result.I think I can get some sleep now that I know that. Thanks again Peter

Standard Rwkw, How Much?
Just had my car dynoed today with 2500kms on the clock she pulled 192.6rwkw on shootout mode.Is that about the average result for the XR6T? I was very happy with that result. Thanks Peter

Squeaky Brakes
Me too. I have the premium brakes and within 24hrs after picking up the car brand new they started squealing, not to mention the clutch shudder and the diff clunking. What anoys me is that the workshop always has some quick fix method and they never get to the core of the problem.

Clutch Shudder Anyone?
I performed a few small tests on the car today such as releasing the clutch with the brake on and noticed that there was a clunking sound coming from the rear around the diff. Also I tried taking off with the steering wheel on full lock and it made the clunking even worse.Do these cars have LSD and if so this could be the problem rather than the clutch.By the way thanks for all the advice everyone.Great car to drive otherwise,I will definately hang on to this for a while. Peter

Clutch Shudder Anyone?
You hit the nail on the head Krash when you say at almost stall revs, that's when it happens mostly. It might just be a matter of getting used to the car cause its only done 100kms so far.that's what happens when you drive a skyline for the past 5 years.

Clutch Shudder Anyone?
Having an auto was never an option that I thought twice about.I like to actually drive the car and get a feel for it through the gears.By the way the dealer promised to rectify the clutch shudder by replacing it. I will beleive it when I see it.

Clutch Shudder Anyone?
Thanks, Ihave no pics as yet but I can give a description:2004 citric acid manual with premium brakes, premium sound, leather interior with matching stitch, bigger rims 18inch,side airbags etc etc too much too list, 63 grand worth on road. I am tempted to put the boot into it but I will play it safe and run it in first. Maybe one good takeoff will elliminate my clutch problem.

Clutch Shudder Anyone?
Hi everyone, I am a proud new owner of an XR6T which I just picked up yesterday. I am just a bit dissapointed because when I drove away from the dealer I felt a shutter come through the clutch peddal. It only happens on low rev takeoff and particularly in reverse parking situations. The dealer told me that it should settle itself down after a while. Has anyone else had a simmilar problem?
