  6. In post #1 it says that PayPal is now shown in AU dollars. 1. How come the recurring payment advisory e-mail I got this week from PayPal show payment in US dollars? 2. Why is it a recurring annual payment and not a one-off donation? "This email confirms that you sent $20.00 USD to Hostwise Solutions Australia as a subscription payment."

    Premium Brakes

Mine do, just not as loud.

    PETROL FILL

I agree with what Scootre said - the fuel tank in the T is too small. How do you lead foots manage in the city? You must be filling up every second day. WhiteTee, I occasionally put Optimax or BP Ultimate in but I admit I thought Woolies PULP = Caltex PULP.

    PETROL FILL

Somewhere between the chime at 80 and the light on at 50. Prefer Woolies on a Sunday, Monday or Tuesday - cheaper days in Sydney according to www.motormouth.com.au I voted "Empty" as the chime sounding is the trigger for me.
  10. Oct 03, 13,700Kms. Premium brakes squeal - initially dealer machined discs when less than 2,000 Km on the clock. Squeal went away for a week then returned. Next told by dealer "unable to machine discs as they are slotted rotors"; begs question how he did it the first time doesn't it? Returned with squeak - told Ford aware of issue but wait a month or so for a fix. Complained to FoMoCo in Melbourne - told they would contact dealer who would install new type of pads and this would fix the problem. Waited and waited then contacted dealer. No solution yet matey - Oh Ford said they have a fix? Bring it in then. They now fixed the problem with new pads. Persistence is not a crime. Bull sh*tting to the customer is!
  11. I had my squealers replaced a couple of weeks ago under warranty at Brad Garlick Ford. The new pads are excellent, same performance as previous squealers and no noise. Let's hope they stay silent.
  12. I also did the recent survey. I complained about the brake squeal with premium brakes on my T and how I kept getting fobbed off by my dealer's mechanic. I received a phone call from a guy who said he was from Ford and that he would discuss my issue with my dealer. I told him it costs me a day without my vehicle whilst they "play" with it and it costs me 2x taxi fares (workshop -> home -> workshop) each occasion. He also said that the service engineer would contact me by the end of the week and arrange to get it sorted out. Well its now 11:59 pm on Saturday night so by my definition that's the end of the week. Guess what ... not a word from the mechanic. grrrrr!
  13. Thanks for the replies. Initially I was told they machined the rotors. Then on the next visit they said they couldn't do that as it would stuff the machining tool due to slots & holes in rotor. They then said they did an on car machining with the special grinding pads. Each occasion the squeal went for a week or so then it comes back. There is lots of black dust that makes the nice shiny 17" mags look dirty. A squirt with the hose (naughty naughty) flushes out lots of black stuff and the squeak goes for a day or so. I asked the dealer / service dept guy if they could replace the pads &/or discs "nah mate, we're waiting for Ford to come back with a solution". The squeak happens when the brakes are warm, say after 2 or 3 kms; normal light braking, slowing for speed humps, traffic lights etc it happens all the time (when warm). If I brake VERY hard it stops until I apply light pedal pressure. If I use extremely light braking ie barely touching the pedal but also very minor decelleration there is no squeak.
  14. I've done about 8,800 Km so far. My XR6-T has premium brakes. They squeal. My dealer has machined the discs and put some sort of shim thingy in but they still squeal. I've been back to the dealer 3 times now. Last time he said there is another XR6-T with premiums that has the same problem. No fix is available. They have filled in some sort of complaint form to Ford but he explained that Ford will only look at the issue when there are sufficient complaints. He described at along the lines of say Ford get 20 premium brakes squeal issues, 50 auto-transmission issues and 300 cooling system issues then they will work out a fix for the issue with the most complaints. Eventually they might get around to coming up with a fix for the squeal. What should I do? Drive around with a placard on the roof saying don't blame me its just the lousy premium brakes or should I blame the dealer who can't / won't fix the problem? I need some help folks.
  15. - Try to resist flooring it when cold - not good for any engine. - I ran my T in by driving it Sydney-Albury-Sydney followed by Sydney-Melbourne-Sydney. As the other post said, vary the Kmph a little. Be aware that Victorian speed cameras are camouflaged (sp?) and may even be on the downside of bridges / overpasses etc - very sneaky, designed to raise revenue not save lives, imo. Also "private cars / vans" may contain a speed camera (one got me at 116 in 110 zone just Vic side of Wodonga, bummer not even 5% latitude {and the speedo is hard to read when the car is new and you're unaccustomed to the guages} -Sound - I got premium sound, OK for me -front grill - Herrod is nice; about $185 fitted Brad Garlick Ford -fuel consumption: mine started at about 22L/100Km, after Syd-Melb-Syd it was showing 12.3, now at 8,400Km it is at 14.5. I get about 350Km per tank in city driving. I drive til the fuel warning chimes at 80Km remaining then fill up with PULP (always)
