Hello all, only recently I have started to notice a ticking sound from the front drivers side wheels. I thought I was just a stone or even a nail in the wheel but after taking the wheel off nothing was found. I was thinking maybe bearing or brakes.. any ideas?? the brakes are due for a change soon but the ticking sound is always not just when I brake.

im waiting for kev to pay my CTP so I can get driving again... been a p plater and all 1) my CTP and insurance is high and secondly im hanging to get a xr6t better than a Expensive Daewoo though

20k over warranty and 1 year.. ill give a few rings around on tuesday about it.. I had another quote the otherday for ~$700. nothing a hoodie and jeans cant fix though.. my last car didnt have a heater either so im pretty much immune to the cold. but the misses doesnt like it. lol

Hello all, Now its winter, I finally want to do something about my heater. I was driving down the m4 one day overtook a car doing about 110 got up to about 140 and the heater went.. sprayign about half a litre of boiling hot coolant over my legs. I couldnt afford $1000 (ford quote) to fix the heater so I just bypassed the heater. Has anybody else had this happen? My car hasnt been worked yet. its a may 04 BA 4.0L NA. ( I wish I had a xr6t but NSW p plate laws are lame.) does anybody know where to get it fixed apart from ford or is it better to go through them

cheers... will try again in the morning when there is more light. Ive changed them in a AU before and I didnt have as many problems. I knew about the spring behind the rubber cap but not the connector.. the manual is very vague about that part.

Hello all, I bought new globes and ive hit a road block... the battery. Is it possible to change the bulb without removing the battery or have I just got large hands? Secondly, this is the first time the bulbs have been changed since factory. should they be hard to remove ( as in connector stuck on globe?) cheers

Vetha, Its pretty obvious if its a hose leak A: because you can smell coolant steam and B: because more than likely there is a major puddle or boiling hot coolant below your engine and you can sometimes see where it comes from the way I found this out was to wait overnight till the engine was cold then start the motor (MAKE SURE YOU HAVE LOTS OF COOLANT YOU DONT WANT A COOKED MOTOR AT THE COST OF A $30 HOSE!!!!)****** pressure from the engine cause the coolant to leak from the crack otherwise you can just get a pressure testing kit and find it that way.. the pipe that went when I had to change it was the reverse loop one that's shaped like a twisted U I think a replacement set me back around $30 from repco.. not sure on genuine ford but its only a hose which was prob made a the same plant.. Whe I lost the heater I was going along the M4 at werrington doing about 110 then overtook a truck accelerating to around 140 and hot coolant sparyed out from behind the dash. I couldnt see where it was coming from because it had all evaportated... Ford quoted me $1000 to replace it $900 for labour and $100 for the new heater. If only there was an easier way to get the heater out without pulling the whole dash out. I disconnected the heater by re directing the coolant back to the radiator by undoing one of the hoses and bypassing the heater connections. Getting the new hose was a big waste of time although, it now serves as a cap for the heater connections.. No problems so far, just had to use 3 bottles of coolant to top it back up as it was drained nearly twice **** that's THE WAY I FOUND THE LEAK.. I KNOW ITS NOT THE RIGHT WAY BUT IT WORKED AND I STILL HAVE AN ENGINE

I bought my 2004 ba xr6 in envi green with 110000k on the clock no exterior damage whatso ever . with a set of 4 brand new tires(bridgestones I think) and rego till may for 12500. he was asking 15k but I got it to 12500

not yet no lol the night was still young for me I had to drive all the way to bankstown with 2 chicks in the back who would not shutup

I had a white F6 foon r spec follow me from the fiddler in rouse hill to MY HOUSE in greystanes.. I pulled up beside him at the schofields rd turn off from old windsor rd and I noticed his dash gear. then when the light changed to green to turn I waited a second or two for him to go first but he didnt so for 20km he followed me all the way home then just kept on driving.. no "RBT" no lights no nothing... thank god for cruise control oh and it was 4am on sunday morning too MMMmmm The sex R6 gets all the chicks.... and cops :( Oh and I was at kk's at livo last night and there was a chick (not bad) driving an undercover VE SS in white all by her lonesome

This really isnt my day :( first the radiator leak, now a cracked windscreen My car wasnt even hot and I drove it to the servo to get a choc milk at 8:30pm and when I came back out (totally unaware) I poped the bonnet to have a look at the new hose see if anythings leaking closed the bonnet as usual not slamming it from top height, hop back in the car and abra cadabra crack from top of the screen to the bottom right in line with the passenger.. unsure if its from before I opened the bonnet but yeahh :( $358 to replace

replaced the hose, not very easy to find on a sunday at 2pm... went to supercheap on GT western hwy at wenty they stocked it but didnt have it in, then went to repco at northmead and they stocked but also none in but they said it was available at repco St peters. so alllllll the way to airport just to get the $20 hose and coolant.. fitted easy with no leaks or any other problems Should I change it to genuine ford hose... im thinking not ... a hose is a hose to a certain extent.

SUCCESS!!! I never thought of that, then before when I was pulling off the exhaust cover my dad just topped up the radiator and I noticed it leaking from the heater return. not just a little leak but like a flow. I also noticed it was flowing along the steel pipe that runs from the pump to the heater.. Thanks to eveyone. At least I saved some more money... 2.5" exhaust time

Little bit hard to find because the whole engine is covered in coolant marks. and the exhaust cover is blocking access to the left side of the engine . I might just take it to ford tomorrow... bummer. :( Im guessing filling the car with fluid and driving it 10km is out of the question...

the car has done 113500 km and its last service was 108000 with next service due at 116000 or 120000 cant remember which one.

hello all.. earlier tonight I was driving my xr6 and I stopped for a breather then when I started my car back up 40 min later all of a sudden it was steaming up really bad.. I reversed out and there must have been about 3-4 l of coolant on the ground. Since I only live 2 k away I drove home (temp stayed as normal) got home opend the bonnet and whammo more steam than a sauna... I checked all the hoses and they are all right but the leak( or fluid) was coming from the left hand side of the engine right near the exhaust manifold dealy.. my mate checked the exhaust to see if it was a cracked head and he couldnt see any liquid in the exhaust.. It seems weird that its coming from this part of the engine ( in line with the front wheels axil) The only thing I can think of is a broken gasket Im going to take it to ford regardless but what do you think???

I just bought a 2004 BA xr6 mk1 for 13500 down from 15k. 10800km's on the clock mechanically and structurally ok. 6 months rego. Envy green .. sports SA gearbox no damage at all(scratches or dings) inside or out . looks brand new. I had a look at two others, one was a citric green one with sunroof. the dealer said that some one keyed the door and they were still buffing it back, but when I looked at it the drivers seat was cracked and all around the drivers door and rear right door was all scratched and banged up and the door was a lighter green to the rest of the body. also when the car was moving because of the extent of the damage the car kind of moved on an angle because the chassis was bent. That one had 130k on the clock and I was offered 14k Another was a white ba mk2 2004 xr6 previously a reps car had 180k on the clock ford offered 12900 for that and would not budge on the price.
