Mate - just don't worry about it. Do your thing and ignore the rest of them My wife says that the T attracts a lot of attention. I don't notice this, or, no-one looks at me
  2. So for those of us with the standard set up??? Steve, it seems that the trip to Mecca didn't solve (narrow down) the problems or the possible solutions. Should we just grin and bare it?
  3. Gt?

Looks like I drop the home garaging (on call 24/7) and lease the car.
  4. I like it... But would go for something a little less RSL...
  5. That's interesting - I remember selling a motorcycle as a trade in the late eighties, I went to five dealers in Sydney. After dealer number three said "you've taken this bike all round town to get a better price" I thought that a different strategy was called for. So I just played dumb and bought what I wanted, trade or no trade.

OK, I know nothing about radar (which is becoming obvious real quick), but, none-the-less... In NSW is it true that you can only be 'caught' or photographed from the rear? And, why are stationary radar (the poles and the cameras) at 45 degrees to the traffic while the hand held units are straight front on?
  7. For 30K? A Mustang late '60's coupe with a 302. A XB GT with extras. or, An original series Ducati 916 Senna. Great appreciation value.

    Damn

Dear Ponch... Is it true that slant radar doesn't work in moderate rain? Or is this urban myth no. 398?
  10. Plonky, I came to the same conclusion three hours ago when I played further with thr Ford "configure a vehicle" site. The GT has the name, the extra 30kws and the rear wing. Plus a button on the dash. You could do a lot with an XR8 with the cash. For instance three months ago, my local dealer had a XR8 that was (Mercury Silver) discounted 3.5K for people with a ABN. That wasn't just ecause it was a shytty colour. Of cause if the T devalued as baddly as that? Then the XR8 would not be immune - but if we were talking rational decisions we would all be driving Hyandais.
  11. True Fords ads are a little well, coma inducing. Like the Fairlane ad, what? Would you buy one on the strength of that?

I must be an old fella? I like the leather I got. Looks classier.
  13. ms700 has given a great description of the sort of environment that I bought my car in. In December last year the mere idea of a T being discounted was the same as Angelina Jollie saying yes to my sexual advances... Well, you get the idea.
  14. Gt?

Worse than 46K? where are the razor blades, the Lenard Cohen records and the bath tub?
  15. I'm like Z Man, a GT is a GT right! I have a photo of a Phantum GT with orange stripes as a background and I like it. But, given the other options on the ford site (as far as colour goes) I would chose some thing else. The Acid Rush (a colour I am usually not that keen on) looks great with black stripes, as does the Lightning Strike with Orange stripes - I would like to see it in the flesh (a bit like Nicole Kidman, minus Lenny Kravitz).
  16. Gt?

AMoffat posted a topic in FPV & Tickford
I had a play about on the FPV site and went to the research option and configured a GT and a GT-P with the same options as my Turbo. I paid full price so the T was $56K drive away no more to pay (sorry!). To do the same thing in a GT would be 70K (67K plus on roads). To do the same in a GT-P would be 80K (77K plus on roads). So, Given my 16,000 klm old T is worth what? 46K? Would you update and pay 24K or 34K for a GT or GT-P? I am thinking about a GT. But maybe I need to go novated lease, but that would be another thread wouldn't it?

On the accent thing... I was stopped by the highway patrol on LA for not indicating (I think I turned the windscreen wipers on instead) and a large black guy asked for my licence. I produced it and he said where you from? Me: Australia Him: Do you speak English? Me: No, Australian He looked confused. The Australian accent worked OK in bars in LA.

The use of sirens on emergency vehicles... I have had a long history working in Emergency Deaprtments, so I have atteneded a few 000 parties and usually know Ambo's (and the local GD police) quite well. A couple of months ago, I was a passenger uin my son's car, he was driving, we were in a line of traffic doing 60 in the right hand lane. The left lane (it was a two lane road through town) was also reasonably heavy with traffic. A vehicle with high beams on was tailgating him. They were so close and the lights so bright neither of us could tell what it was. I said "just stay on the speed limit and ignore him". After fifteen seconds or so, the siren goes off behind us, my son at first slows then pulls to the left lane, to allow a bloody large VW Ambulance by in the right hand lane. No continuation of the siren or emergency lights. The driver (I know the guy) is unaccompanied, and turns into a street that leads to the local fast food joints - it was 1830. Isn't there strict rules for when an emergency vehicle can use it's sirens? I used to go on retrievals with the Ambos and one of them told me off (nicely) for mucking about with the siren - yes, you can't take me anywhere.
  19. I'm keen for the weekend to go ahead. It would be good to have names and numbers of people before I booked any resturant, which I'm happy to do. So, could people give an idea of whether they - 1. want to go 2. want to go out for diner on the Saturday night (the 22nd November) 3. want to have a short Saturday afternoon cruise (say one and a half hours like Aaron has described above or a longer version say over 2.5 to 3 hours (200 klms)? I am assuming people would arrive Saturday early arvo and want to be on the road Sunday morning - is this so?

That's amazing, reading stuff by Mr Plow, he was really active when I first joined - the afternoon after placing my order for the car. Today a Phantom Xr8 ute stopped near us. I said to my wife Phantom is the best colour isn't it! Yes she said, although I like the orange. If Blood Orange was an option last December, it would have been a difficult choice.
  21. $635 worth of damage. Great.
  22. Two hours ago I rang my wife for some reason, and she told me an old guy had reversed into the side of the car in a local car park. Years of driving two to five year old cars and not a scratch. I bet the guy ain't insured.

I have an auto and recently got 9.7 L/100 during a law abiding but boring trip from Toowoomba to the Gold Coast, went to 10.3 L/100 driving down the Pacific Highway to Coffs Harbour. Normal usage is mid 12's to low 13's - mixed highway & regional city traffic.
  24. I went to Stettson's Steak House the other night, 25 to 29 dollars a main, wasn't bad at all. The added attraction is that the owner has a Phantom XR8 with Steak 1 plates. That sort of money for a main in usual, I must admit there are cheaper towns to eat in. Would people prefer a menu with more choice? Or does someone really hate: Indian Thia Italian Mexican all of the above? Steve
