BF xr6 turbo not making boost

Had this happen with a Nissan Murano here in the U.S. everyone kept saying it needed a new CVT trans.....gutted the cats and took care of everything. Saved $3600 for a $60 fix

I said to a mate it could be a blocked cat and he said nah it'd be runnin real bad.. and I said it kind of is.. I cant afford an exhaust system at the moment or new cat, so im just goin to exhaust place tomorrow and they gonna cut the cat out and put straight pipe in.. that'll do the trick yeah? Until I upgrade with tune etc

it'll run even worse on boost with no cat and no tune to suit the situation... potential destructive overboost, so don't boost it until it's tuned.

What about if I just get him to gut the cat? Would that be alright?

He said if the cats completely shagged he will just straight pipe it if not he'll clean it out.. I just need flow there. Cat is not making boost at all as is.

yes, I can see that... but too much boost is significantly worse than no boost at all, in terms of potential damage to both parts and your back pocket.

 

If he's willing to do it, though, as part of the tune process, then there's no point turning him down, other than to save some money

Yeah true. I know what you sayin.. hes not a tuner just an exhaust specialist. This sucks lol

anyway, the car will run with no cat, so if you just get him to do that, and then drive it softly to the tuner, who isn't just an exhaust place, then that'd be what I'd be doing
