March 26, 20188 yr #1 Does anyone know if its "do-able" or does anyone have experience changing the LHS axle/driveshaft seal with the diff in place? Car is an FG TURBO SEDAN. I recently swapped the diff in my G6ET and I believe it's now leaking from the LHS seal. I'm hoping I can get away with not dropping the cradle ? In hindsight I probably should've changed these as a precaution while the diff was out ? Thanks in advance.
March 27, 20188 yr #2 Yeh anything can be done with enough patience and some fancy tools as the stub axel seal is held in by that hefty carrier that’s screwed in would need to make up a finger male pattern attached to a good 1/2 inch extension bar but definitely doable
March 27, 20188 yr #3 Easily done in place, you don't actually need anything fancy as the seal is presses into the bore on the carrier. I use a seal removal tool- And a seal driver But if you are short on tools a screwdriver and an appropriate sized socket works well
March 27, 20188 yr #4 Author That's what I was hoping to hear I have a removal tool just like that and a bearing press set that should hopefully have a piece that will work to press the seal on. Thankyou ???
April 15, 20188 yr #6 Author Hahaha. I have no idea why it put question marks there. Edited April 15, 20188 yr by ***VX*R8***

I ordered a new seal but a bit unsure how much needs to be removed to get to this. I'm assuming, the wheel, hub, brakes ect all comes off and then by the looks of it there is a bracket locking the driveshaft in place. After undoing that bracket the driveshaft should then be able to be unscrewed?
June 7, 20188 yr #8 Turns out changing the seal is fairly straight forward as I though, though did take 10 hours.
May 8, 20206 yr #9 Hope you can help mate, doing this asap in a ba. Did you have to remove hubs etc and pull axles out?
May 8, 20206 yr #10 There's no way you can do diff seals without removing the axles. Everything after the seals has to be removed. Shorts shafts hubs brakes and of course the wheels. Have fun.
