Just wait till just before its gonna get tuned. Very easy to get sucked  into a bit of high boost action when some spud in his n/a xr6 pulls up along side ya at the lights. Overboost is not a friend of these engines....

honestly its not like you've fitted a free flowing exhaust and want to drive around, just be careful and it'll be alright.

 

however, some quality advice is posted above which suggests to wait until you're ready to get it tuned to fit any mods

Better redraw on the house loan I guess haha. What's a tune cost? I would be buying a x4 flash tuner at same time.

As john said ya should be all good, the intercooler kit will give ya gains when other supporting mods have done. But for now until your tune gets done the stock cooler will be fine on a factory tune. Very easy to get sucked into having a big shiny cooler on the front of ya car."Bling bling..."

Put aside around $700 (ball park figure). depending on how much ya get the xcal4 for. Then it's tuners time and dyno time ya paying for... Get a price for the tuner to install the intercooler kit and xcal4/ tune. might work out quite reasonable as an overall price when getting two things done.

like $2-2.5k for tune +injectors+ xcal (all supplied by tuner) in WA if I recall right.

 

Wouldn't go for a tune without new fuel injectors personally.
