what are the recommendations or do's and don'ts on the FG, I would like to put in a K & N air filter to get Peter economy performance and the rest. However how reliable are these cars, I'm coming from a Toyota Camry V6, lol.

Make sure to warm it up before doing some mad skids and it's good practice to drive around off boost for a few minutes before stopping the engine.

pretty unreliable, with your ford you'll get to know whatever mechanic has to work on it hahaha compared to the toyota which in my experience they barely have things go wrong.

They're not that bad. Coming from a long line of Commodores they're much the same. Easy to work on and the stuff that breaks isn't a total nightmare. The electronics side does my head in though.

Like John said they're not Toyota reliability wise.

Do yourself a favour and have a good read around here. Change the oil and filter every 5000km's with a good semi or full syn oil. I used nulon on my last service. Just make sure it's the same weight as the book recommends.

If you plan on chasing more power there's heaps of info here and some proven formulas.

Have a read of Jets tuning thread. You'll learn lots in there.
