If you weld the internally gated exhaust housing in any way to bypass the internal flapper, it's then no longer an internally gated housing.

If you just weld a pipe around the internal wastegate port and flapper section, then your internal gate can vent to wherever you want, but it's almost entirely pointless

If you buy a specific housing that has separate outlets for both the dump and wastegate, then this is almost as pointless as the previous method.

 

It's entirely possible that the ebay jobby is the part that is leaking.

Ill probably just put the old 4" dump back on for good measure but it wasn't that bad of a leak I believe..

Yeah, that doesn't look like it seals around the dump/gate sections in the standard exhaust too well...

if some of that "wastegate" noise you're getting is actually airflow that's meant to be pushing more air into your intake, it's a detriment

you can get the sound from an external wastegate relatively cheaply... obviously not as cheap as an eBay dump, though.

The dump pipe just got dumped then ? and hello sweet sweet boost, precious boost. Ill go external in a few weeks when I have some pocket money there are some legit nice ones a place in melbourne do.

It's just one of the possible problems, though... It's just an easy one to eliminate, especially if you have the correct size dump already.

 

Cut a hole in the exhaust housing MCM style Then you can mount and run an external gate with screamer, all while holding boost better than ever before haha
