I'm with Rednose on the Yamaha over Marantz amp, providing they both have same features. I've had a Yamaha amp for nearly 10 years (which replaced like a 20 year old Yamaha amp), admittedly I had to replace a circuit board a few years ago but other than that it's been perfect.

Yeh I had a Yamaha amp for about a decade as well. Last time I went to turn it on it just wouldn't do anything though. But to be fair it was in a dusty shed for 2 years. And 10 years is a pretty good innings for electronic devices anyway.... man I gave that thing a flogging never missed a beat, even being over driven

Sweet link George as I don't really care about brands as much but loved the features available on the cr625

That yamaha has what looks like everything but more power and ball park price also

What the marantz does have is it's physical size is quite small and this is where we need it to fit into the entertainment unit we just bought ( should of looked into audio and a custom unit before buying like you did George)

So now we have a really expensive unit and limited areas where the audio can fit hence original ideas of a sound bar being all-in-one and not needing a spot like an amp does

speaking of amps......I just upgraded my amp to a Denon, great amp good reviews. comes with microphone to setup speakers, can do 7.1 for future, has wi fi, and connects to internet to update itself. prob a bit fancy for me but future proof. also makes my speakers sound better than my old Panasonic ha. I did a lot of research and this was up there as good amp for the $$$.

Heos is a little better than Sonos in sound, it's dearer but no match for the Sonos in ease of setup and ease of use.

The Sonos just works better.

If space is tight in the entertainment unit then this would be my next pick.
