I was at an intersection void of other traffic and I noticed over the otherside something in the middle of the opposite lane...it was a scooter on the ground with a person lying on the side of the road. I proceeded to block off one lane with my T, turned on hazards and attended to the woman.

Luckily the young woman was ok, just had several minor grazes.

The road was a bit wet in Belconnen, Canberra tonite and this lady was approaching an intersection in her scooter and she said she simply braked and slid over. It wasnt raining but there was just enough water to cause her problems. She had her L plates and told me this was her 2nd stack in the wet! Shes lucky she didnt slide into the back of a car or something or that a car or truck wasnt behind her!

Well she said she wanted to drive off but I convinced her to stay put for a while. She would have been in a bit of shock and NOT in a state to ride. So we got her mobile and called her boyfriend. I waited till he arrived then I left. It was over half an hour ago but Im still wired. Arriving on an accident scene certainly gets the adrenalin pumping...

I think there's one young woman seriously wondering about driving her scooter around in the wet again...if at all.

She's lucky she didn't slide into the path of a vehicle driving along the cross road.

At least she's ok. I'm sure in the future she'll probably look back at the experience and laugh.

Scooters are notoriously dangerous in wet and dry conditions - most beginner riders would be far better off on a cheap 250cc like a CN250 rather than a scooter.

Wheels are tiny and it is riducously easy to lock the rear in the dry let alone the wet. My bet would be she has either locked the rear / hit an oil patch or the riders worst nightmare the stupid white painted arrows the ACT govt delights in installing everywhere. My first 'bike' was a 250cc scooter (young, didn't know any better and broke) and I had similar problems in the wet.

Most of them are very underpowered and are flat out doing 80km/hr let alone 100km along the parkway. I've shielded a few going along Tuggeranong parkway - absolute madness.

Thanks :banghead: for stopping Turbodewd - many don't including the taxi driver  who drove around me on the top of Hindmarsh hill when I was pinned under my bike.

Well done, TurboDewd. ;)

What a courageous act that was, putting your beloved T in the line of on-coming traffic ... such fearless heroism.

... oh, and attending to the accident victim to, of course ... :banghead:
