BenDoCo I'm getten too old for this s**t Bronze Donating Members 4,509 Member For: 12y 1m 29d Gender: Male Location: A big bridge over a river in South Australia Posted 29/11/14 03:09 AM Share Posted 29/11/14 03:09 AM So I just popped down to my local Deli to grab something for lunch and Jess (the girl that owns it) said to me that Dutton Expensive Daewoo rang her yesterday and told her that the new car has just arrived."WTF" she said to the guy on the phone. She cleaned out the husbands VZ 300'ish KW Clubby and drove it up there and was given the keys to the Loundes Special Number 11.We went around to her place (the husband works FIFO.......hehe) to have a look at it and I do think that I am starting to change my mind about the new model Commys. -- no pics of this one though coz her husband hasn't seen it yet so wouldn't be right. As there was only 200 (I think) made, a Loundes special probably isn't the car to mod but I can def see that the base for something wild is all there in the new model and the sound of that 'Brand New' 6 litre Chev made me hard. I know previously I said I didn't think all that much of the clubby I'd driven, but that was a manual and this Redline was an auto...completely different car. It surprised me how much I actually enjoyed driving it! It was super quiet (I.e. very minimal road or wind noise), no rattles or creaks from the interior, the interior was a lovely place to be and all the tech was actually pretty cool. Self-park and HUD were two things that impressed me, despite not thinking they would. The auto gearbox was super smooth and very easy to drive around, the flappy paddles on the new models I think would make for a great compromise, as I think I'm getting to the stage where I'm not sure I can be bothered with a manual anymore...The FE3 suspension in the Redline was great, I think I actually preferred the way the car felt on the road and through corners than my GT. It was a super comfortable ride too, with the higher profile tyres. Did I mention it comes with staggered forged alloy wheels factory? The Brembos also felt better than the ones on my car, had a lot more bite than the GT...caught me off guard. Either way, it's clearly the better handling chasis. It felt a lot smaller than my Falcon when driving around...you know it's a big heavy car, but it just doesn't feel that way on the road. It doesn't crash through corners or over bumps like my GT does...it just glides through with minimal fuss or discomfort.Sure it felt slow compared to the GT...but it was so comfortable, quiet and smooth that I didn't really care. They're supposed to be pretty decent on fuel as well, a mate reckons he gets 500kms to a tank out of his around town (which many other Late model camira forum users back up) where as I'm lucky to get 400kms out of my tank around town...she's a thirsty whore the GT! That active fuel management must work a treat on the VF.Best bit, diff bushes aren't an issue on the Commonwhore! I also didn't hear a whisper of hiss coming from the stereo...unlike my "premium" Ford product...I've loved the performance of both my Fords...but (the Miami motor aside, and detached from the rest of the car) compared to the VF they're much MUCH less refined. The interior of the VF is a much nicer place to be and you do feel more part of the car with the lower seating position. A whole heaps more adjustability too, I like how far out the the steering wheel comes and that it has a flat bottom (who doesn't like a flat bottom), makes it much easier to get in and out of, being the larger fellow that I am.I've been a Ford guy my whole life and never thought I'd admit it...but I think Expensive Daewoo have built the better car here. I'm actually extremely tempted to buy one. Got offered $55k by a Ford dealer for the GT...so wouldn't be much to change over to an Bogan special Redline, especially once I sell the Shockworks, diff bushes and Rspec rears (dealer would put the car back to stock)...Not to mention a mate just said he can get fleet pricing, so is gonna check up on price for me. Reckons he saved $4k when he bought his...that would be nice, would essentially mean wouldn't cost me anything to change cars. Edited 07/12/14 10:04 AM by .Stripes. The VF is a much better car and as an overall package it is years ahead of the Falcon. I also think the VE2 was better than the FG. At the time of buying my FG I also looked at VE2 Bogan special , my head said Bogan special and heart FG. Ended up with the FG and sold it 2 years later. If I bought the Bogan special I'd probably still have it now.I fell out of love with my FG XR6T pretty quick after the novelty wore off. Its was an awesome engine in an ordinary car with terrible build quality. I have owned every model Falcon from EF to FG (excluding AU) so it felt weird not buying another Falcon but I was over putting up with all the crap. Was going to buy the last XR8 but after seeing the first pictures I knew it was time for a change. Was very close to getting a VF Redline wagon but needed something bit better on fuel due to the amount of kms I am doing so ended up with a diesel tank. Have not looked back since. 2 Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/89373-why-i-want-a-holden-and-being-ghey-is-okay/page/13/#findComment-1516351 Share on other sites

To an extent Jet, yes, but a large majority of the issues I've had with both falcons wasn't my own doing. Running a manual and you have to do something with the bushes...but doing so creates more noise, which is stupid for a performance car made in 2014.Would like an R8, but not convinced I want to spend an extra $10k over the Redline. Might be worth asking my mate to check up on fleet pricing for one of those too...just out of curiosity...Rspec wheels were supposed to be colour matched to the dark argent inserts in my factory GT wheels...but each set is different, so you might find them a bit light or a bit dark for your set. They cost me $2,000 you can have the rims by themselves for $1,000 or with tyres as well for $1,500 if you want peppy? 1 Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/89373-why-i-want-a-holden-and-being-ghey-is-okay/page/13/#findComment-1516354 Share on other sites
