I never heard of anyone loosing top end power with one fitted. I fitted one to my non tuned tuned FG with a Herrod intake and if anything it made it feel more laggy with a bit more intake noise. Ended up taking the muffle delete pipe off a day later.

Its literally only there to quiet down the induction noise of the stock car. I'd be asking your tuner how the hell he can substantiate a loss of power by replacing the stock pipe. If anything it should be better as there is no gas speed loss with the solid pipe.
