Walbro In Tank Dying.

Hey,

I currently have a walbro 225l in tank pump running flex (street) & e85 (race tune) in my fg turbo (small turbo running 360rwkw on e85)

The pump feels like its slowly dying. At half track I get really bad surge (like it's running out of fuel) but if I lift off off a second then hit again it's fine.

Is the pump to low for that power levels?

I'm thinking of putting the 420l pump in but need more info.

1. Will it fit in (I.e swap over without having to re wire pump considering there's a walbro there now)?

2. Is it worth putting a higher pressure reg in?

3. Can this be done without having to put a surge pump in (don't have the space for it... Kids etc)?

Surge won't take up any kiddy space, unless you put the kids in the engine bay.

Yes you can run a bigger in tank at that level

If it's surging don't drive it hard

But put in a Walbro 460 intank with a reg

Keep it safe and quiet

At that level a surge isn't really necessary

^^^ What he said. Walbro 460 intank is the go. Much easier and cheaper than a surge setup. Installing a Reg on its own won't prevent the increased pressure of the bigger pump. There is a restriction in the return line of the swirl pot than will limit flow and increase pressure. This can be corrected or you can have your tune adjusted to accommodate for the higher pressure.

Mate a 255 walbro on e85 is out of flow well before 360rwkw your doing well it has not popped a rod already

350 on 98 is the limit on a 255 walbro as a guide

Worked out its definitely the pump.

Where can I get a higher pressure regulator from? I know we sell them at ford but....

I'm getting the 400l e85 walbro pump fitted up

Um I know kpm do a 460 in tank with reg deal.

Other wise ebay has some as well. Not too sure on part numbers though

U dont need a higher bar reg u need more supply

400lt/hr intank pumps are more than fine with stock reg but if your drag racing and above 350rwkw on e85 id be leaving the 255 and going a plaz or PW undercar surge tank mate !!!

the supplied reg is not for higher pressure, it is to control pressure where the factory one can't
