Danimal Member 48 Member For: 13y 2m 1d Posted 29/08/13 12:04 AM Posted 29/08/13 12:04 AM The evo IX or jap spec evo VIII is a better buy than a X anyway... I can't imagine the evo X will ever be that much quicker around a track if you spend huge dollars on both of them - it is not the same track weapon the earlier evos were (HKS time attack evo anyone?)If I was you I'd buy an R34 GT-R... It has a all paw power but will let you slide it, plus has more torque than an evo with the extra couple of cylinders.

Spending all the money on an Evo on suspension, engine etc like you say end up costing you 100k, you can only really push it to the limits on the track. The FG Falcon can handle really good with even minor mods. my XR6T just has a Set of lowered springs and it's awesome to drive, sharp steering response and very stable for such a large car. If this is a street car I'd stick with the FG XR6T, For about $6000-$7000 you can make it have 300rwkw and also a set of good Tires and Springs to make it handle and grip better. 1
Pedja Member 42 Member For: 13y 10m 8d Gender: Male Location: Brisbane Posted 31/08/13 03:37 AM Author Posted 31/08/13 03:37 AM Yeah I've had a look at the evoIX and they a wicked. But the thing is....exo x 0-100 stock with launch 5-6.1ecs. Evo7 my frineds stock evo7 is 0-100 3.9secs no mods but its 250kg lighter then the X the evoIX has Mitec for controlled better torque so its plus and weight 200kg less then the X ...Now I read somewhere in the net that a fg xr6 na can catch a evox in a straight line, now I don't know how true that is but yeah only 20kw difference and 4L vs 2L.and DAM YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME! read my mind I was think for the last 2 days about a evoIX is so much cheaper and look hot as but with the number of police around Brisbane eye candy and they'd want my goodies......anyways theres a guy that gave me quote for a full custom titanium exhaust for the xr6t and said 2400-2600, longer car more materials etc but that's pretty good and the sound that would come out of it is ridiculous.Cheapest evoIX with about 50 000kms I was around 30k-40k almost like a brandnew xr6t with abn - the GST etcWith fuel use, xr6t is like 10.4l per 100kms? ExoX is 10.2 and evoIX is 13....mates told me but yeah. For some reason im leaning towards the Xr6t parts wise and looks. But the EvoIX seems like something that would be good, but the fact that I know not one has not be treated like a slut in a gang bang around mountains and highways and street, don't want to be rebuilding a 4g63 engine after 10 000kms of driving it.Stage2 2.2L EvoX engine =$19 995Stage1 2.3L EvoIX engine= $18 995numbers form AMS but I don't know about the xr6t engine. Also guys thank you so much for all this help...cant be more grateful.Have you considered the new Merc A45...I just read up about it, apparently Wheels magazine did 4.4s 0-100, and it pulls a 12.6 quarter mile...Yeah that merc is Sick but euro cars and Australia don't mix...parts cost and service is fk'd...golf 2003 2L NA clutch costed my friend 1.5k + import fees without hands to install....but yeah looks nice but im not that into euro cars hahahaBTW nice Falcon.
Swindog Member 40 Member For: 13y 1m 9d Posted 31/08/13 09:16 AM Posted 31/08/13 09:16 AM Coming from a Subaru back ground id go a newer STI but that's just me. Since we picked up our FG xr6t id have to say just two totally different vehicles so it would come down to your preferred use of the vehicle. If its just cruising around town, mostly then the xr6t. If you wanna race car looking head turner then the Evo. Easy to chuck around but far less space and more expensive parts etc.At least with the Ford for circa $5k your into the 400kw range...in the evo your looking at 4 times that.If it was me with a large budget id weigh up other options too like the guys say, the gtr or old school supra. At least if you did the xr6t youll have money in your pocket at the end.
fehlbie Legacy Donating Member 142 Member For: 17y 5m 16d Posted 31/08/13 10:12 AM Posted 31/08/13 10:12 AM I met a client of my friends business that buys a new Evo every time they come out. He went on to tell me the Evo IX was two seconds a lap slower around Wakefield park than his Evo X. Fg XR6 turbo all the way, fantastic car for dollars spent.
