Just happened to randomly pop by here, sold my Nitro FG XR6T quite a while back to get into an E30 M3, couldn't afford to have both along side my other cars, planned to keep the FG until I die, distant memories it feels at times were some of the most awesome high quality cruises I ever been to It's so endearing to see quite a few people here I remember Dowen, Marco
  2. Hi Guys. I got a 2002 BA Wagon on petrol. I baby this thing, I never go over 2000rpm, and it's getting 400km to a tank. I've tried putting the nulon pro strength fuel system cleaner in, doesn't appear to help. I have heard cats can become restricted and still drive OK but give fuel economy, is this correct? Not sure what else to check, there is a fuel smell sometimes mainly when tank is full but probably just vapour coming in, Can't see any actual weeping or leaks from hoses. Cheers.
  3. Fair enough. I'm not sure if there's a shorter 1st gear ratio I can put inside from another BTR box that can fit in the BTR box of the BA otherwise the only real solution is a ZF conversion. Cannot I retrofit a AU mechanicals and re-use BA electronics?
  4. Hi Guys. I just got a BA wagon and 1st gear really doesn't seem to be anything great. Before I had a VT Late model camira which was very peppy in 1st gear. it's a petrol car I know the falcon has a much shorter 1st gear but heaps more torque. A friends BA Auto ute would fly off the starting line I've seen other threads on different forums with some people asking the same thing. I've seen AU Auto's jump off the line quickly. Some guys mentioned the cable throttle holds back the car in 1st gear to make it more streetable hence giving the lag like feeling. Is there any versions of the 4 Speed box that have a better 1st gear ratio I could swap in from any other BA or possibly AU? Not looking into an option to just go a shorter diff as I only want to make 1st gear shorter. The only other option is a ZF swap which is very expensive as wagons never had the 6 speed Cheers
  5. Hi Everybody. Today I sold my FG XR6 Turbo and it is a sad day but I have enjoyed every single bit of it. Tonight I took it for its last drive to buy a Pie and some bread becaus ei did not have bread in the house and it was such a awesome drive to the Servo and back tonight, the torque it had on the cold weather was just intoxicating. I have absolutely no idea how I began to like the XR6Ts I can vaguely remember many years ago somebody saying he was driving one as a mechanic and he floored it and it just went sideways even at such low speed. It was never a car I even liked. Whenever I buy a car I like to find a Forum or Club, and I did this when I bought my car the exact same day I logged on and there was a cruise that exact night. I rocked up not knowing what to expect, I thought it was going to be a big meet with people talking trash showing off there pursuit rims but it was totally the opposite The atmopshere was great there was skids but the cruises were the safest I've ever been on and also the best organized of any other forum or club. People actually enjoyed cruising, it was purposeful, it was fun. goodbye and I love you guyus

  11. For people considering a cost effective 400hp Pack, F6 Cooler and F6 Injectors and a HP Tune will get you there. But more important than power is reliability mods guys - The original flexplate is prone to coming loose on Automatic cars so it's a good idea to get this addressed when going for more power and oil pump gears too, and ofcourse as mentioned the intercooler piping. Regarding intercooler comparisons, I went from Stock to F6 to PW Stage 1 and upto 400hp I can say best bang for the buck is a F6 cooler, heat soak is not as bad as people will make you believe unless you plan to constantly thrash the car again and again or track it. The PW cooler did have slightly better power.
  12. OK Look the whole science behind the sound of a dose is to amplify the compressor surge, different materials, lengths and angles will change and affect the clarity of the dose. You can try experiment around with different setups or even compare with friends. Boost level, tune, and supporting mods like steel intercooler piping can also indirectly affect the sound of the dose too. As an example, a factory FG with BOV blocked off would be very silent, however with an upgraded intercooler and steel piping and after a tune, the dose can get somewhat louder, and achievable with almost a stock intake. Things like air filters, intake silencer etc will all muffle it so if you want a very loud dose you can make an upgrade plan : For the loudest possible dose, a steel intake pipe coming off the turbo would help. I would get a cheap priced turbo side intake kit, then make your own modifications to it as you wish. In my opinion an XR6 Turbo is a modern muscle car and should not be made to sound like a Jap car, so I prefer a deep bassy type of flutter to indicate that it is a Turbo but nothing over the top.   13. Do any of you guys know why a BA 4 Speed would not shift into 4th gear at all, otherwise seems to drive fine other than common Fluid level/condition issue is there a common cause to this?
  14. The compressor itself siezed is probably a possibility. If this is the cause you need to also find and fix the reason why the compressor failed in the first place, otherwise it will happen again.
