When you do the tour they give the spiel on as soon as they tap open one of their vats they have a liability of so many million dollars in tax. That's before it's even bottled let alone sold.

A mate of mine owned a bottle shop around the year 2002..He showed me an invoice of some beer he just bought...It cost him $27.00 a case and the invoice was broken down..Half the cost was tax $13.50..can only imagine what it is today

My thinking.

Americans pay no tax on there cars, not sure about parts.

We pay out the ass for labour compared to around the world. Unskilled factory worker wants to work 8 hours max and make 60k+ a year.

And America orders 10000 porches, Australia orders 1000.

We get stung with import taxes, luxury tax at a whopping 33%, bang 10% on the total for GST. We're fleeced by our government!

Was looking for a job . Didn't see any unskilled jobs go for 60k. Applied for a few store manger positions . Lucky to find one that pays 50k. The best I found was 55k plus a car.

Tax is definitely a big thing, however I think it really has a lot to do with Volume - I know that a customer of mine will pay less for individual units if they buy in bulk compared to buying one unit every now and again.

There is also the commitment to buying a certain amount of product which will improve a discount from the manufacturer. If you say to the manufacturer that you will buy 1 pallet of product they will give you a good price however if you say you will buy 1 pallet of their product every week for the next 5 years they will give you an excellent deal to secure the business and guarantee cash flow.

im a skilled forklift driver and get paid more than that.
