Hi Folks

Purchased my 2003 Ba XR6T on the 12th December.

I have driven it twice.

It does not seem that loud to me.

I received this letter in the mail today.

  • I like dobbing my mates into the EPA, especially if their car is faster than mine.

  • With no centre muffler it will not pass and which is what has drawn the unwanted attention to the car, the cat will make it not pass a test and it possibly has tune in it if it has a high flow cat ot

  • Yep bigger cat is noticably louder.

It's not just noise. It's emissions too.

Registration suspension... sorry to hear mate.

What mods has the car got?

When did you buy it?

What mods does it have?

Have you recently in the '2' drives you've had been through a Booze bus?

Few years ago I was on my way through a BB with 4 onboard and ended up with a letter a couple of week later.

I read, on this forum I think that police can issue one of these if the see you drive past and think "hmm, that's loud". However the guy at the EPA I just spoke to says the notice may have been issued to the previous owner. Im pretty sure the car is legal, its not as loud as my AC Cobra replica and that is legal. The guy at the EPA was decent though. Before I could ask he said he would try and get me an extension as it was short notice and nearly Xmas etc.

that's nice of him, pretty f*cked being so close to christmas and most places that could help you will probably be closed, not to mention all the public holidays. Unlucky too if it was the previous owner... maybe he knew... o-0

Nope no booze bus. Only had the car 6 days.

Mods are :

FPV intercooler

Clutch

Hi flow cat

centre muffler removed (just found out tonight)

As far as I know its running standard tune, so emissions should be uneffected. I think?

They nearly fail a noise test standard. So with muffler removed it will be above 92db no worries.

Really Mr 4.0, wow. Im thinking I will take it in, get it tested and if I have to put another muffler on then I will. Hopefully it will be as simple as that.

Probably good its happened now. I intewnd to mod and tune soon.

Change the cat also..

With no centre muffler it will not pass and which is what has drawn the unwanted attention to the car, the cat will make it not pass a test and it possibly has tune in it if it has a high flow cat otherwise it would be hitting boost cut
