Hey guys,

Have been averaging a high fuel usage of 18/20L per 100kms is this normal in an FG XR6T ute? Even when driving normal the best I can get it down to is around 16 litres. Also, the engine light came on today while the tank was nearing empty, and then the engine light went away when I filled her up..

I'm booked in tomorrow at the Ford dealer where the car was purchased for them to diagnose the problem..

Can anyone help me out here, what could the problem be and what are my chances of the Ford dealer finding it and fixing it?

I have averaged 8.6 for the 18 months I have had my FG turbo Ute not quite 1000km per tank

My average is 18.0.

Lots of skids, pass's at Calder, arthurs seat cruise was pretty brutal. Just wear it as part of owning one of these cars.

Although on the freeway I get 10.1ish.

mine was about 22l in my fg f6 and I guess I say I drive it hard often hit the 1/4 mile and see 99.9l per hundred kilometers

I drove down to Sydney, flogged the ute around Sydney for 5 days then drove back and averaged 10.9L/100kms. Not bad for 471rwkw's.

I had quite a shock yesterday when I filled the tank. Trip A showed me a rather pleasant 563km for the tank just emptied. NFI what my L/100 is/was because I rarely pay attention (car needs fuel, I fill it and use it). I just know it was quite a bit better than my normal 440km per tank.
