Five Young Men Dead As Car Smashes Into Tree

I hope this was nobody from here.....

Five young men are dead after a car hit a tree in Melbourne's outer north, and a young woman is in a serious condition after being trapped in the vehicle.

Emergency service crews were called to the intersection of Plenty Road and Childs Road at Mill Park shortly before 2am today where police say the Ford XR6 sedan had struck the tree at high speed.

Five of the six occupants died in the mangled vehicle and the young woman had to be cut from the wreckage.

She's in a serious but stable condition in Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Police are asking to hear from anyone who saw the blue Ford before the crash.

Just saw this on the news. Police estimate the car was going 160kmh. And with 6 people in the car.

A lot of stupid choices, hopefully other people take something away from this, but knowing this generation they wouldn't even care.

The passengers in the car probably didn't do enough to prevent their own demise either, surely 4 male passengers being a large peer group could have told the driver to stop or be sensible and got that reaction in return.

SIX occupants, in a car designed for five....overloaded for starters..

I'll be interested to find out how old the driver was and if alcohol was a factor in this....

The car appears to be "Blueprint", which means it's an early BA,wether it's a turbo or not is not stated, but if it is, that puts it in the same category as many turbo Jap imports that can be purchased now for under 15 grand by people who just don't realise the performance potential of these vehicles and easily get out of their depth.....unfortunately, this guy has just taken four of his friends with him

With the Victorian government's somewhat backward attitude to driver training, this tragedy will no doubt be used to justify even more speed cameras.....

Looks like I'm surrounded by angels in here.

Very very tragic, but for anyone to claim they've never overloaded there car or exceeded the speed limit by a stupid amount is either full of sh*t or the next saint in waiting.
