Shocking loss of life. I've been involved in and witnessed several accidents in the past 2 months and I have completely changed my concentration levels when I drive, especially with my 2 kids in the car.

I hope you all sharpen your concentration and speeds from right now looking at other people's mistakes.

True dat. When you see an accident in the flesh, or images of tragedies such as this, it makes you think of the possible consequences when taking risks.

My sincerest condolences to the families and Friends of these poor people. To the poor girl who may live and then have to live with this for the rest of her life. To the police and rescue crews who would have had to scrape up the mess and tell the families.

No driver training would not have helped this. Not even a perfect road would have helped. They could have only helped themselves.

Tragedies like this only fuel those that be to put in more and more cameras and other revenue raising materials.

It really is such a tragic sensless waste.

I feel sorry for the girl as when they were cutting the passengers out they had to remove 3 bodys to get to her as they were trapping her in the wreck. She was conscious the whole time too so will be a hard memory to deal with in the future. Never a good thing to see this sought of thing and hopefully will never be a parent who loses a child to any sought of road accident.

The driver was a red P-Plater who was speeding and lost control.

woah that's bad and I thought ba-bf falcons were fairly strong and safe as ive been in a few decent smashes in them but I guess no car can stand up to hitting a 1m wide tree sideways at 140km I feel sorry for all the families involved....im also wondering would this car been equipped with dsc and been on at the time as my dsc has always kept me goin in a str8 line...

DSC will not stop the laws of physics and stupidity.

I would bet it was turned off as he already had the stupidity trifecta. Red P's, excessive speed and overloading the car.

The parents were interviewed on the news, very sad way to start the year.

^{Dont want to wade into this debate to much, but} I ^{have done 245 km/h on Australian roads, why that speed you may ask, well the answer is simple. My car would not go any faster.}

^{OK this was done in the NT when speed limits were derestricted and it was all legal. Remeber guys speed limits are mandated by the governemt on advice, well} I ^{am not sure how they get that figure. Its a line in the sand so to speak, aimed at the lowest common denominator.}
