If anyone is looking for pure quota capacity TPG have just upped their $49.95 plan to include 100GB per month quota (some is off peak only though).

Their contention rate (sharing between customers) can be quite high though, so you won't always get maximum download speeds...

Got so decent speeds there with some of you guys!

Im about 3 or so Km's from the exchange when at home on an iinet ADSL2+ line, running voip over, and loads of other extra crap line slowing devices - normally hover aroud the 8-9 mb/s down, and 1-1.5 mb/s up...

Wireless - 3 (pre paid - dont use it that often)... in the City... (Sydney)...

1.5 mb/s down - .30 up...

Keep in mind guys there is a lot of factors to 'true' speed and not just what speedtest.net gives u as a read out...

Check your ping times, line noise, how many systems are running on the one connection at the time of your test (Modem direct to a pc, v's modem -> router -> switch, voip box, other network activity, wireless A/B/G whatever...)

Anyone with ADSL2 running a 4 or 5 meg + connection with a 500kb-1mb+ down has a pretty reasonable connection speed as a general guide...

ADSL (1) - 256/512/1 mb - all depends on your connection speed your paying for...

Remember if your over your cap - you may be testing a throttled line speed also...

Keep in mind that the rankings are not really all that accurate (when I last looked a long time ago).

The ratio of the benchmarks is not consistent, and therefor can really be accepted as correct.

If 100 people in Oz all use ADSL 2+ or cable connections for example and only one person in where ever used a cable connection of course they would be ranked higher then the average of 100 people in Oz.

Yes we have a HUGE FARTING internet issue here in Oz and its a shame that the likes of Telstra never did the job right in the first place (or government I should say)...

I still know of people in locations like Albury/Wodonga they are unable to gain access to adsl2 lines, not to mention people in places like 5 mins out side of Holbrook that are still using Dial Up!

Its a JOKE!

on top of all this - lets go and slow the world even more by filtering it!

I work for telstra these are the new cable extreme packs, we tested them the other day hit 115.42mb/s...

I want... and they pretty cheap too. too bad im not in the cable footprint!

There ping is the worst for gaming, just ask my little bro who jitter bugs 10feet at a time on COD6 with the PS3 and cant even use his headset because he cant play at all if he does, lol.

If those speeds are ever available I can only imagine the cost and there plug would be- A massive 70+Mbps download speeds with a huge 200mb download all for only $250 a month, Bahahahahahaha

BTW - those with IINET - check in your toolbox, under the broadband tab, there is an option called "connection speed manager"....

Might help with gaming, dl speed, line connection ping, etc...
