  1. spoolax, are u getting any feedback/cross talk or interference from the power feed being taped together with the output speaker lines? might be worth separating them..
  2. Dude... This might help... Just remember whatever you pick, speakers and audio gear is a personal thing - just like a women, what you might like to listen to (nagging in the case of a women) your mates may not... Go into some good audio stores and take a cd of your own in, spend some time taking a listen and see how you go from there.. . Brands/Buying hardware - When considering equipment, the below is a list of some brands you may wish to check out: (complete unbiased list – and yes hundreds of brands have been left out).. * Speakers/Subs: + $1500: Focal, MB, Seas, Dynaudio, Morel, McIntosh, a/d/s. $500 - $1500: Alpine, MB, JL Audio, Infinity, a/d/s, Polk, Boston, Dynaudio, DLS, Hertz, Rockford, Eton, Focal, Eclipse, etc. $500 +: Pioneer, Clarion, JL Audio, Alpine, DLS, Nakamichi, Boston, Eclipse . 3. Ok, only 'skimmed' this thread... Few things - difference of opinion. Panda - P/L? why? his talking about being a Sole Trader - why pay 30% tax, if he can run a sole trader structure (in under 80k), just stick to the 10% GST difference. Ma91ck - ABN: http://www.business.gov.au/businesstopics/registrationandlicences/registerfortaxation/pages/registerforanaustralianbusinessnumber(abn).aspx Use the links on the right hand side - first search for 'existing' names that are the same as what you are thinking, or 'like'. Try to steer away from those. Grab yourself the URL (web addy). Get a good mentor. Get a good accountant. Talk to external advisors, ie - BEC offices if you have one in your area. Make sure, or use caution if/where there 'may be' a conflict of interest with your employement. (should you have a full time job or what have you, they may not be happy if you are working in the same industry and they feel there is a conflict - so run it past your boss, might not be a bad idea). SWOT - not sure what that means... google it.. Once you are ready - buddy and cuddle up with some good suppliers, and baby sit the connection... remember who helped you get your first gig and deals going... If you need a good accountant, our guy is in Sydney also - can help you with lots of this start up stuff, BAS, etc... but like anyone in business, its not free! So get used to that term also - "everyone is in business for one reason... to make farking money"... This means your suppliers, and... YOU! Tuck under another small business owners wing, and SERIOUS take notice! When you have made some big $$$ - remember, lil ye ol smicky drinks grey goose and belvider vodka!!!
  4. JL, not a bad sub... Would have gone Focal, Morel, or the likes on the other speakers... Not a huge fan of Infinity - but its not too bad... But im sure it will come together well...
  5. Did I say... "Get a Merc instead! " lol
  6. Guys... FORGET THE 24 MT CONTRACTS!!! If you can, push to get a 12 month... 24mt is simply tooo long for any product like a phone (if you use it as a tool or trade).. Either buy outright, and then make sure you have something like personal effects insurance that will cover it (part of home & asset insurance). Or if on a plan, pay the extra $10/month or whatever to reduce the time to a 12 months plan... Phone that are USED HARD - simple dont and wont last more than about 14-18 months before u start to throw the bastard!!! lol Most telco's have a 'retention' team now... call them up, get some facts before hand from other carriers, and push for a better offer.. if they dont extend it - pi55 off and go else where anyways...
  7. Oh 5#!7... I forgot to check the battery when I plugged it in this morning.. lol oh well, whatever it was - it did last well last night.. was a full charge before I headed out so handled a night out with Smicky! lmao
  8. SCRUBY - thank god someone got this thread back on topic! See, nothing has changed in my absence with those that get carried away off topic! The size is fine - if anything I actually like it a little more, cos it has a bigger keyboard displayed, less chance of punching the wrong keys! its slim also - so just slips into the back pocket!
  9. Gents - its all good. I know how the batteries work, while im a IT nerd, I have actually studied electronics as well (even if I try to appear like a dumb bum often). The discharge/recharge or recycle upon initial usage has been performed. For anyone with a smart phone you may also wish to look at an app that will clear the memory on the 'handset' which is cached to better manage the power saving function on the handsets. This can also be done via the download menu within the android OS (if the option is enabled - normally requires a cracked bootloader). My concern is that I trash my phones - bluetooth, wifi, FB updates, email, sync, etc all running most of the day. (Obviously turning the BT and Wifi off when not needed)... However between writing sms's to mates, a few calls, FB'ing when out (enough said when Grey Goose and Belvidere is involved lol), and email, the thing when from 60% to near dead in around 2-3 hrs... Just doing a full charge now, before heading out tonight and will give it another spin!!! Let you know how it goes tomorrow I guess...
  10. Of course... Apple is going back to the old days of 'each to their own'... Everyone else is moving to a 'all for one'... they way it should be... I remember when Amiga/Late model camira v IBM v Apple v Amstrad etc.... Ok, PC is slowly but surly moving, but why the f@r# the fruit brand is not following I will never know - even if it is all PC based technology/components now... Just like the iphone - can you guess whos components are inside? lmao... Apple is and has been for a long time, nothing more that a marketing and software company. In many ways, the next Sony IMO. Sony just forgot to creating new products... see how long it takes Apple to forget about 'the next big thing' and ends up spending far to much time in legal battles... zzzzzzzzzzz boring... get on with it, and just keep creating people! Has Ford and Mercedes gone and sued every other motor companies for building cars? they all have engines, 4 wheels on the outside, steering wheel etc... so must be patient infringements there... lol Anyways - feeling this battery needs to be a little better on the SG3 for heavy users... but in the end I guess there isnt much that would cope with the level of usage I have each and every day... Bastard died when I was out last night... lucky the vodka and women where far more interesting..
  11. So, about a week now playing with the handset, and so far no issues... Battery life is - good, but not terrific... however I am a very heavy user to say the least. Pulled the headphones out of the box tonight, and while they are ok, like anything that's bundled with a product, iphone, ipod, or any other mobile or mp3 player, for 50$ +/- if you like your tunes, go get something that will allow your ears to enjoy the sounds a little sweeter. (Im still all for the Bose ie1/ie2 @ $150). Stable, and not missed a beat yet in terms of locking up or freezing. Hasn't once reset itself as the SG2 did a few times... thinks that was just due to the first being a dud. Works well with the Merc's bluetooth functions, phone, mp3/audio streaming, and SMS/Text display. A few of the extra add on functions are a little so/so - the eye rec. fucntion when viewing the screen however this is known to be a little iffy in certain levels of light. the sms to call function with raised to the ear, is a little iffy also... Havent really played with the S Voice function yet - maybe over the weekend if im not to busy drinking.. Otherwise only issues are Optus network related... wankers!
  12. huh? oh wait - your on a nexus... aaahhh those roms are for the GS2 only I think.. (Mind you many custom roms work on both)... As for a new phone - a dead phone is a dead phone... it was only a few days old, so sent back under the 'early failure' warranty (DOA)... lol It was meant to be an unbrickable phone - between me and one of the techs in the office, we found a way to brick it... I remember giving him the phone, and then seeing him sweat a bit... he was quiet for around 2 hrs, before I asked how the phone was going, he looked at me with a worried look on his face... and said... aaahhhh... I asked - u bricked it didnt u? he said, u cant, its unbrickable.. lmao... put it back in the box and sent it back... Poor guys was stressing for 2 hrs! classic... Edit: Ha ha - just realised the pics of the phone... lol the first pic is actually of a server we were building a few days ago... woops! Skip the first pic... lol Fix that up tomorrow or something - cant be arsed logging into the web server now...
  13. Np mate - remember... u brick it but... dont blame me! lol I bricked my GS1 about the 3rd time I tried to flash it... but just sent it back got a replacement and then been fine since... My SG2 is back on a stock rom - u can get from here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/ Use "SMS BACKUP & RESTORE" before u do the flash - save the backup to your EXTERNAL sd card (if u want to keep your texts)...
  14. Obviously the Samsung! lol Roms: http://z13.invisionfree.com/Litening/index.php? Try that - u should be generally safe - just be careful, oden is a factory type of program if u screw it up, u may want to start building a house... there is a 'how to' on that forum!
  15. * We are doing the SGS3's outright for around $770 +/- aussie stock, straight from the distys... Next shipment is due in around 2 weeks, and expect a price drop... * Asus v SGS3 - dont rely on just specs like Quad Core 1.4 v 1.5 they are not a direct 1:1 - its like looking back on the days of My AMD beats your Intel cos the number is higher... Sorry... BULLsh*t! Show me 3-5 REAL performance tests in the real world and they will show what product is best... Remember it depends on the requirements, and to be honest, I'm tempted to head back to my SG2... Specs on Tech products are just the same as specs on our cars guys... throw the beast down the 1/4 mile! * 16GB, 32GB, 64GB - just get a 64GB SD Card and ull be fine! Are u really going to be transferring that much crap to the handset, when you can in effect hotswap, and use the card in and out of a PC... save the money and just get a 16GB... The 64GB hasn't been confirmed for the Aust Market yet (if at all)... 32Gb is still a few weeks away also... * 4G - ha ha ha ha FORGET IT.... its unlikely to be here (if at all) for 6 months from what im hearing at this stage (telstra excluded, but its only in a few pockets anyways)... If your on Optus, there is no 4G network (except that little crap network they bought from 7 holdings a few months back, only in Newcastle)... Telstra are still useless at best - and Voda... no comment... By the time 4G is sorted in Oz, or LTE (I suspect Optus may just go straight to this and skip the standard 4G Network)... a new handset will be out - perhaps the SGS4... (If your like me and get a new phone every 6-12 months, just grab whatever u want NOW)... * Custom roms - try Lightning Rom, or CygenRoms... They seem to be reasonable, however some do have glitches, and remember its up to u, I hold no responsibility for a dead/bricked handset at the end of it, if you screw it up! * Asus = Foxconn phone.. same as half the rest of the market... lol - Samsung = Samsung... Go HTC is you dont like the Samsung... maybe even Motorola, worth a look... imo... Asus for notebooks and other IT products (sell more than any other NB... but handsets... hhhhmmm next!)
  16. Mate, as much as I hate to say it, im with optus. Ive had the Iphooed 3s, Galaxy S, GS2, a Galaxy Fit, and now this SGS3 all in the past couple of years. Most with custom rom's now.. Half the time I buy them outright from the Sammy Disty (I own a IT/Telco biz), but this one was put on a 12/mt plan with Optus. Their retention team had to give a monthly credit on the account for the next 12 months so in the end, basically getting the handset for next to nothing as if it was on the 24mt plan for $0. I've been having loads of network issues (more so than normal) recently and told them all the handsets on the account were going to be transferred to another carrier. So yeah, Optus, grabbed it from their George St store (they typically get all the first 'retail' stock in Oz as its their flagship #1 store). So far so good! (Even with all the extra Optus BS apps). I think they only had a handful on Wednesday, next shipment is 1-2 weeks away. The online/phone sales guys have a few boxes im told. The white version is everywhere, plenty of stock. There was a reported battery problem with the first shipment of the Blues, so was delayed and back ordered in most countries. I will say the feel and build of the SG2 does feel... just a little more complete, a little tougher/solid, and I like the old corners. But the new SGS3 when in use, simple performs like a charm. Hope this helps!
  17. that's it mate! miss piggy all the way!
  18. Just in case anyone is considering the Galaxy S 3, and hasn't been able to see a Pebble Blue demo unit - here is some pics... Picked up one earlier in the week - from what I understand there is only a limited number in the current (first) shipment... More pics here: http://mbinfotech.com.au/mb123/open/SGS3_BLU/
  19. Lol... SG2 where is the SG3?
  20. G&G - Guys and Gurls.... Muppets! lol
  21. Hey G&G's.... Hope everyone is hanging in there and doing well!

No comment on the C'wood comment, just want to see what happens over the next few weeks... Yep, few streets and all good... Few might remember the last run I did up Macq Pass - heated the Falkens up, and the Pads and all was done... Out the drive way, up to the lights, and around the corner and u should be happy...

Many high end A/M H/U's offer this as a setting option within the config menu. It 'will' typically have 'some' effect, however if this is the only 'wire' being changed and no other settings or tone controls adjusted, it typically is a small change in what you will hear. Turning the bass control up will also carry further and greater effect on the system, as well as that of the wire change should both things be done. Having said that - 1. I dont have a FG, rather had a BFII. 2. Dont own the BFII anymore either. 3. Cant test to advise based on both points 1 + 2. Lol... Anyways: "Phase control Changing the relative phase of the subwoofer with respect to the woofers in other speakers may or may not help to minimize unwanted destructive acoustic interference in the frequency region covered by both subwoofer and main speakers. It may not help at all frequencies, and may create further problems with frequency response, but is even so generally provided as an adjustment for subwoofer amplifiers.[22] Phase control circuits may be a simple polarity reversal switch or a more complex continuously variable circuits. Continuously variable phase control circuits are common in subwoofer amplifiers, and may be found in crossovers and as do-it-yourself electronics projects. Phase controls allow the listener to change the arrival time of the subwoofer sound waves relative to the same frequencies from the main speakers (I.e., at and around the crossover point to the subwoofer). A similar effect can be achieved with the delay control on many home theater receivers. The subwoofer phase control found on many subwoofer amplifiers is actually a polarity inversion switch.[28] It allows users to reverse the polarity of the subwoofer relative to the audio signal it is being given. This type of control allows the subwoofer to either be in phase with the source signal, or 180 degrees out of phase. The subwoofer phase can still be changed by moving the subwoofer closer to or further from the listening position, however this may not be always practical."
