Ooh haven't heard of that before. I've seen loads of red light cameras here in WAWA land that refuse to go off, like the one I watched an old granny plod through after it was red...no flash. I just assumed they were out of film though, unless it's me heading towards it in which case I make sure to stop. Come to think of it I like stopping at amber lights, pole position!

edit

Oh is it only speed cameras, not red light cameras that use infra red?

You could use infrared in the same applications as a normal visible flash. Have no idea what guidelines control the use of flashes though. The Hume are definently point to point :beerchug: The distance between the cameras is shortest distance possible, ie inside of every curve. I would say the tolerance wouldn't be right on 113km/h, but I don't know that for sure because I don't work for Department of Justice.

Maybe you got lucky doing 130km/h :spit:

I would love the government to get an independent, non-biased, not anti-car or pro-pedestrian and non-dependent on govt grant type company to report on all stats to do with traffic volume, accidents, speed statistics, revenue raising statistics, road conditions vs accidents, government expenditure on revenue raising vs real crime fighting etc and publish them for everyone to see. I bet the govt will never let this happen and for good reason too.

Being, that you would never understand it.

Instead of trying to look for the holes, just accept it.

A lot of speed cameras use infrared flashes, you wont be able to see the flash but the camera will.

In NSW there only in tunnel sections, such as the M5 tunnel and Harbour tunnel as to not give away there positions. For many years the big bright illuminated section of the HArbout tunnel was were the cameras were and everyone would slow down at the point and only that point.

The open street level ones still all flash for cash.

That is not true for all the outside units IB, as the new 2 way sCameras have Ir flashes.

Something about it distracting the driver if hit with a face full of flash.

Looks like some one really does not love this speed tax machine. Linky

Can't say I blame them, drove past about 8 of the buggers on the trip up from Sydney to Brisbane and not one of them where in places that I would consider dangerous, they where mostly on straight stretches and just after the tops of hills. Safety my ass, fix the road between Coffs and the border and that would save a lot more lives on that 3rd world standard bit of hwy.

The braniacs are putting more in up here, first one on the Warrego highway to Toowoomba, right on the range, but on the uphill side where there has never been an accident. Meanwhile on the opposite side of the highway the cars will continue speeding and killing each other resulting in the highway being closed for days at a time.

Just found out that the new bus lane cameras dont flash either. It is inevitable that they will be upgraded to non-flashers as the better technology is installed. Will definately raise more cash.

just accept what?? that the SPEED KILLs and HOON propaganda campaigns along with more and more kodak cops and speed measuring devices are legitimate and worthwhile uses of taxpayer money and putting more visible cops on the road isnt??

give me more cops on the road anyday !!! at least they know how to use discretion (most of the time) and are more effective in policing real crimes instead of 5kph over.

Dont get me wrong, retards who do 50 over in built up areas etc shouldn't be on the road and are a danger but we dont really need sophisticated speed measuring/revenue raising devices for that
