My car is a little slow to select reverse once the fluid is warmed up....not too much of a problem for me, just a little annoying..

However if it's slow taking up and I give it a tiny nudge with the accelerator I can hear this kind of bang from the back. It's not a depp sound, it's more of a high pitch sound........sort of high pitched metal if that makes sense??????????????

Any ideas where it would be coming from and what it would be?? Thanks heaps

I dare say that your gearbox could be on the way out, I had a similar problem just before my gearbox went bang 3 months ago.

strange noise in reverse.

I would get someone to have a look at it and give their opinion or just hack it until it goes bang, or get it rebuilt!

Hey Mate...

Is your car lowered ?

I had the same problem with my car it ended up being my left drive shaft

Problem solved with mine now

Also check your diff rubbers your rear and two fronts

Thanks guys....

BLUUOA my car isn't lowered and everything in forward gears seems fine so could it still be the driveshaft?? Also I've had all my diff bushes done recently as I got the fulcrum main bush done.

May be the gearbox perhaps??

did you suss this out?

When I put my car into reverse (warm I think it is) I get this metallic sort of tick/click sound. sometimes does it going into drive too.

Sounds like its coming from the trans or something.

Any idea's what it could be, and how to fix it?

Thanks,

Dave

The ting ting sound is just the driveline taking up the pressure, as it is used to going forwards and then has some slack going into reverse. Nothing to worry about

Sweet thanks mate, was hoping it was nothing too serious, just never noticed it in any other cars before.

I know the noise and mine did it now and then backing into my driveway in the first metre or so of travel with stock BTR and same now with 'built' BTR.. so as others said nothing to worry about. That being said slow engage into reverse could be signs of the box being a little tired :dontknow: How many kms she done and is it the original stock auto?

Nah it has no trouble going into reverse, not slow at all.

Its a 2007 BF2, so has the ZF.

getting it serviced in the next few weeks anyway.
