Merged post Edit:This was on the second or third page.. I didn't realise this forum was fairly quiet. Opps.. Serves me right for not checking thread creation dates. 4ST-XR6 Member 58 Member For: 18y 5m 22d Posted 20/02/07 08:16 AM Share Posted 20/02/07 08:16 AM Never in any time that Ive openned the turbo section of the workshop manual have I heard ford refer to thermosyphening, I understand the concept and if it is used well that's all well and good, but I agree with rotor motor about the bearings in the turbo being damamged when the oil temp rises after the engine and hence oil pump cease to operate. I spoke to a region SOC (service operations co-ordinator, or something like that) and was told the reason xr's don't come with them is because these cars are built on a budget, If that was the case and the hardware wasn't needed I'm sure ford could have created the engine management to allow the the car to run after a period of "spirited driving". So pretty much each to there own. This and other issues Ive tried to get answers from ford and even being an employee your just a mushroom (kept in the dark and fed sh*t).
