Name: Weather Man

Genre: Comedy

Director: Gore Verbinski

Actors:Nicholas Cage, Michael Caine

Score out of 10: 7

Your opinion:

Typical deep thought provoking movie by Nick almost a narrative. The battles in his life of success as a weather man vs the cost to his family and personal life. Definately some funny bits here and there. Worth watching but not a movie I would need to see again.

Name: Batman Begins

Genre: Action/Drama

Director: Christopher Nolan

Actors: Micheal Caine, Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, Gary Oldman

Score out of 10: 7/10

Your opinion: Quite an interesting movie, a bit more dark and brooding than any of the other Batman's and probably more than most 'current' Hollywood features. Good special effects without being over the top.

Good villains, especially the Scarecrow. Worked well as a movie, though quite long. Took a while (1/2 hour) to get going but at least 1 hr 45 minutes left. Reccomended for attentive people, but not for kids, not in respect to any violence but more the overall gothic theme of the movie.

Name: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

Genre: Thar Be Pirates

Director: Gore Verbinski

Actors: Johnny Depp, Keira Knightley, Orlando Bloom

Score out of 10: 6/10

Your opinion: Long and Incomplete. 150minutes for half the movie, irritating.

Fun movie, quite camp. Johnny Depp plays the mincing queer to a tee. Special effects are over the top, but then again, the main villain is modelled on Cthulhu.

Did seem to drag on a bit too much for my liking, though there is enough sardonic wit, boom crash flashiness and Keira Knightley to keep most of us happy.

Kid friendly kind of movie, as it is primarily aimed for them, though most people should at least enjoy it, though will probably come away a bit jaded of the whole 'Hollywood Experience'.

Name: Rent

Genre: Musical

Director: Christopher Columbus

Actors: unknowns

Score out of 10: -1

Your opinion:

if you enjoy an entire script of people bursting into song and dance this could be for you. I think Hello Dolly leaves this one for dead. I found it to be long and boring without a connective plot. The characters had issues far beyond the struggling actor, be it aids, addictions, sexuality etc.

dissapointing as far as the director is concerned he has previously done MRS. DOUBTFIRE, HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCERER’S STONE.

I was tempted to do the dvd shop a favour and throw it out the window

Director: David Dobkin

Actors:Owen Wilson, Vince Vaughn, Rachel McAdams, Christopher Walken

Score out of 10: a big 9

Many good lines and worth watching again

Name: Ten Canoes

Genre: Whimsey

Director: Rolf De Heer

Actors: Lot's of Erstwhile Unknown Koori's. David Gullpilil narration.

Score out of 10: 8

Your opinion: Very, very enjoyable movie. Set in Arnhem Land and the first movie to ever feature only an Australian Indigenous Language on screen (english Narration however). Fantastically shot with alot of quiet humour, barely anything makes you laugh out loud, but you smile to yourself the whole way through.

Brilliant Moral at the end too.

Name: V is for vendetta

Genre: Sci-Fi / drama

Director: James McTeigue

Actors: Lot's of pommy ability

Score out of 10: 9

Your opinion: I really like this film though its a film based on a comic, think Kill bill without the Tarrenteno style (and it does not suffer because of this!). A bit 1984 + brazil, put together with a darker sense of humor, not your typical spoon fed hollywood brainless pulp an ending that really does the film justice, It's well worth the watch.

Name: Hoodwinked

Genre: Comedy

Director

Actors: The usual suspects, Red (riding hood) the Wolf, GGGranny, the Woodsman, the three little cops (policeofficers), Webby (the detective frog) the list goes on.

Score: 9 out of 10

Your opinion of it:

Very entertaining! It turns the well known fairy tale of red riding hood to a who dunnit with hilarious results. Watch for the references to other well known fables as well as to movies. GGGranny is really a XXX character and Red Riding hood is a fast talking, hip chick with a black belt.

I know these films are supposed to be kiddy flicks, but I doubt that most kids would understand the references to other movies.

I always thoroughly enjoy most kiddy flicks and this is no exception.

The CGI was top notch and the characters had real depth, for something that isn't real that is. I could watch it again and not be bored stupid. This has something for everyone.

Oh, and there's a happily ever after with a twist :danceforme:

Name: Inside Man

Genre: drama/action

Director: Spike Lee

Actors:Denzel Washington, Clive Owen, Willem Dafoe, Jodie Foster, Christopher Plummer

Score out of 10: 9

Your opinion: Denzel and Jodie at their best. Denzel a detective with a shady past is sent in to head up negotiations of what appears to be a bank robbery with a hostage situation. Mastermind gang leader has intricately planned and staged the "hold up". Owner of the bank has dark secrets and hires Jodie to ensure this information stored in a safety deposit box doesn't get into the wrong hands.

A long movie that keeps you interested all the way through with twists and the unexpected. Not your run of the mill plot

Good watch

Name: thought Crimes

Genre: drama/thriller (mild)

Director: Breck Eisner

Actors: Navi Rawat

Score out of 10: 7

Your opinion: About a girl whose world turns upside down on her prom night when she hears voices and is put in a mental institution. However the voices are real and she is after many years taken by the National Security Administration. The portrayal of her struggles to re-enter the world and accept that she is not crazy and can hear others thoughts is quite good. she is needed by the NSA to help solve crimes.

something a bit different
